For the moon sighting my reason for WHY it is region specific and local Imams to me here in the UK have also said this is because following Saudi is a new innovation and a modern thing because for centuries we had no technology to allow us to communicate with people halfway across the world and people living far away from Makkah would just make their own prediction but now that we can contact people in Saudi Arabia people automatically think oh today is 1st Ramadan or Eid Ul Fitr in Makkah right now so I must also do my first fast or my Eid today too even though I live in the UK or USA etc... which is halfway across the world
Here in the UK because of our location on the earth compared to Saudi Arabia it is usually always the day after Saudi when we start the new Islamic months and only time you follow Saudi (technically) is for Hajj because that is a pilgrimage to that country but you would still do Eid Ul Adha according your local region. When there is no known moon sighting we still do it 1 day later. I personally think it is wrong to just keep following Saudi if it is something that not even the companions of the Prophet himself or other Muslims for centuries before us did because how were they to know the moon was just sighted in Makkah when they were currently staying/living in a place where the moon sighting differed from Saudi. As for things regarding well all these clouds and fog and so on make it harder for us in the UK to see the moon I will just say scientifically the moon is still there if you were to take the clouds out of the question using technology and Islamic months are always 30 days (unless the moon sighting is a day earlier) so you use the 30 days to determine if it is a new month or at the very least if scientifically the moon sighting in your country happens the day after Saudi then even when you don't see a moon due to the weather conditions just do it a day after Saudi knowing that it is supposed to be shining above you but is cannot be seen due to weather conditions

UK isnt always cloudy. If Birmingham is cloudy then Cornwall might be clear. We saw the Ramadan moon here in the UK. Even if it is always cloudy why do we have Solar panels throughout the year? Muslims should stick to the hadith and the sunnah. And Muslims in the UK should join the UK Muslim Moon sighting committee. And see how many Muslims are sighting the moon each month of the year throughout the UK.
All these are lame excuses since a committe of moon sighting in the UK has been established with actual pictures of the MOON. Scholars in the UK need to back the committee and unite the Muslims. Following Saudi isnt a valid excuse anymore!!

So if the crescent is sighted somewhere in the world, then the whole planet will sight the same crescent under similar visibility. as the earth rotates. Three questions:
1.If moon sighting was global, how in the time of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S. Muslims in Mecca, could know that Muslims in Sham spotted moon since the fastest way to travel was horse, which most likely could not react Mecca before those in Mecca saw moon. Its not like they had phones and telecommunication to just send message or such?
2.When do we start to look for moon, its very confusing, I know it is beggining of month of Ramadan, but when exactly?
3.How did Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S. and Companions May Allah S.W.T. be pleased with them, woke up at Tahajjud or Fajr, they didn't had alarm or such?

as for the third question they wake up for fajr by timing their sleep right, so if they sleep 8 hours they sleep 8 hours before fajr, and if only one person wakes up he starts waking up his family and they start waking up the rest. or maybe some people stay up to pray qiyam el layl and they stay awake till fajr and they would wake others up.

There's nothing wrong with UK weather. Leave the lazy Muslims who stay in their houses waiting for Saudi to announce moon sighting. The so called self tagged salafee brothers don't even care on striving to look for the moon but rather take Saudi moon as the their authority. Even if they sight the moon close to them they won't fast expect they hear Saudi sight the moon.
I can say most of these guys started fasting on Monday which is 30 of Shaaban. It is crystal clear that the first day of Ramadan is Tuesday in almost 80% part of the world including UK and North America because I sighed the moon myself.
Most of them will end up fasting in Shaaban and also celebrate Eid in Ramadan due to their ignorance.

Saudi Arabia themselves even say follow your own country/region because they have falsified moon sightings on many occasions and got it wrong.
Mufti Menk even says follow your own country, or the closest muslim country to you.
There is a community dedicated to sighting the moon in the UK known as the `New Crescent Society` whose sole purpose is to sight the moon with photographic evidence.

Perhaps you do not know the cause of your problems or the faltering of your interests. It may be caused by a mistake, sin, or accident that you do not know about.
The month of Ramadan is an opportunity to perform ruqyah according to Sharia law

these 2 countries are not even far aparts, and most website and tools that show the moon phases of countries had them similar phase (2.5% cresent yesterday) yet they are 1 day apart from each other.
Someone made a mistake (or deliberately) and I think its from the moroccan side especially knowing this country is being ruled by a zionist family.

I think the reason everyone follows the moon sighting is because saudi always confirms the moon sighting to initate the ramadan Long ago, no technologies existed to let neighbours know so some had to travel by horse or camel or carrier birds just to pass the message along, once the neighbours are notfied, they wait to see the moon and then they can initate the ramadan. With todays tech, Because we all can notify the whole world on a whim with tech I do ask myself the reason to continue this way. I think we all should follow the one route and not complicate things now tech has eliminated the difficulties of establishing communications.

They didn’t have means to communicate at that time so obviously moon sighting remained regional. Nowadays if moon is sighted at any location on earth should be enough to begin the new month all over the world. Because political boundaries were made by colonial powers 100 years ago. Also, just like prayer times, lunar calendar can be calculated and published for the entire year in advance. Moon sighting has nothing to do with religious scholars they should stay away from it and leave this matter to the meteorologists. 50 years ago scholars told us that loudspeakers, photograph, and TV are haram and now they have their own channels.

"You guys"? "Fed by others?" Says the person who is being fed by this person. It's not about being fed but being told an answer that the intellect finds weak and contradictive. This person talks about the clouds and not being able to sight the moon. What about when Ramadan fell in Summer and the moon was easily sighted. People still followed Saudi out of ignorance. He also mentioned "so many sects, groups and opinions?" There are only TWO opinions. Sight the moon regionally or follow Saudi. It's not complicated. The words he spoke were not entirely true and can only divide the ummah and not unite. And yes, if regionally you are unable to see the moon on the 29th then implement the sunnah. If you can sight the moon then great. All avenues should have been exhausted in order to unite the ummah because you have a group following Saudi and a group following the ways of the Sahaba. Sadly, this happens every year and our aim should be to unite. May Allah unite the Ummah and protect the Sunnah way. @@littleoctober29

In the UK people seem to mainly follow Saudi or Morocco (and a small minority Pakistan/India), not too sure why they follow Morocco instead of just following the sighting in the UK..something about Morocco being a "muslim country" , although recent trips to Marrakesh and Agadir would suggest otherwise😂😂

Everyone should follow Pakistan. That is where the only true muslims live. The people of Saudi have fallen to the west unfortunately.

What a Joke!!! You mean the place of Shirk? Praying on graves and shrines? Where the people don't even know what they are reciting! Even the Mullahs don't even know what they are reciting. A Mob of 100+ men with mullahs inciting them were about to kill a woman to death because her clothes had arabic writing. They thought it was some holy verse from quran 😂😂😂. When it just said Halwa.
