I always found it funny how the fame and infamy system worked in Oblivion. Do some work for the fighters guild, or maybe do a part of the main quest? You get fame points. Makes sense, you're helping people out going on adventures and being a good guy so people are going to know who you are and like you. But steal for the Thieves Guild or do some work for the Dark Brotherhood? You get infamy points. Again, makes sense; You're being a villan so people are going to feel a bit iffy towards you. But you decided to pray to Molag Bal and do his bidding by mocking, laughing at and torturing an innocent man praying at his wifes grave? You get fame points. Someone work that out!

Imagine being fire and you met someone who drinks nothing but water, swims, and loves the concept of water. That's why. Molag bal is literally antithetical to a good person
I failed this quest at least five times before realising I had Mankar Kamoran's robe and Namira's ring on, both reflecting damage and killing the knight in less than a minute lol
Oblivion allowed for so much sandbox fun. My villain took over the dockyards, bribing all the riffraff there and equipping them all in order to kill the guards. The guards never got close to me, as my minions dispatched them. Of course many lives were lost in my defense, but it was all worth it ...even with all the lag it caused.

I'm playing through Oblivion right now and I just realized you can get multiple sigil stones out of the first oblivion gate you come to in Kvatch if you mash the activate button multiple times before it teleports you out it'll give you multiple sigil stones... Been playing this game since it's released and I've never had that happen before!
I think a good arc is doing the basegame heroic stuff, and then doing the Arena, realizing it's not faked, or all criminals under death sentence, just wanton killing for entertainment and getting disillusioned, and from there joining the DB.

I love this quest it is so dark and twisted. But it is a great idea for a future ttrpg session. With the fallen Knight being turned into a evil servant of Molag Bal.

Oblivion has so much color, and beauty that no other title has outside of small areas. You do a great job covering Oblivion. I'm only on the 166th day of my current run, but I've watched a ton of your channel this go-around. Your lack of a zealous display of intrigue and bluntness are the main seller for me, no silly voices or speculations that make YOUR headcanon work.
A "good man" who killed a nest of minator? Minator, who as I recall, were legally considered sapient and full fledged citizens of the Empire not five years ago as of the start of Oblivion? Well that was fast.
I remember a lot of bugs with you actually just dying when he kills you back when I first played Oblivion. Which honestly just felt like the most likely result of trusting Molag Bal lol

This quest is evil. Taunting a widower over his dead wife over her grave is extraordinary screwed up. Then we let him kill us with Bal's mace all just because Molag Bol is that much of a dick. Returning afterwards scares the hell out of him too. I love it. This is infinitely better than his Skyrim quest. It had potential for choices but Bethesda is allergic to that. Think about it we should have been able to get that guy out of there and think of a way to remove the curse on the house. We could have also had a choice to trick Bal by working with the Bothetia priest. But no. Do what the game tells you and nothing else.
Well TBH each in Elder Scrolls you start as a convict in a jail. So I always imagine that I ended up as one for horrifying crimes, and now I got involved in some divine plot and all the suffering i caused iscall forgiven, suck it Nirn! You technically already ARE a villain the moment you start the game.
Technically the Eternal Champion from Arena and the Hero of Daggerfall weren't prisoners due to an undisclosed crime. Eternal Champion was simply left to rot in the Imperial dungeons to tie up a loose end and the Hero of Daggerfall was sent to the Iliac Bay as an official mission.
Molag bal sounds really cool and a good villain character shame he’s not mentioned or shown anywhere else in the game although the mace is pretty useless
