  • Power through the messy middle with me! At some point in your painting process everything looks like a big old mess. We like to call it the "messy middle". Watch me power through and start clarifying these paintings on paper.

    I'm addicted to your channel :) so helpful to see how you make choices for merging forms, light and dark, and color adjustments. I crave clarity in my paintings and whenever I produce a mess it makes me very uncomfortable. Its hard to trust the process. Seeing you made me a bit braver in my painting style. It is so fun and meditative to watch, thank you

      Thank you, Mara Sophie! It is so hard to trust the process. But I find that it does get easier with practice. And when everything is a big mess working on the composition gives me peace of mind. Even if I then end up changing everything again 😉

    I liked to watch your advice in the different tutorials. I saw in one of your videos that you make the color pallete that you choose for a painting in advance and I would love to know how you prevent it from drying?...

      Thank you! I use takeaway containers to store the mixed paint, which are pretty air tight. They definitely keep a few months. If you notice them drying out a little you can also spray them with water.

    I'm really curious about your process as to why you spent so much time adding detail and color to the pieces only to cover them almost completely with big sections of light colors?

    • @jclosestudio
      @jclosestudio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Hello! It adds depth to the layers, but mostly it makes the process of painting more fun. It's a bit like meditation and helps me not to focus on the outcome.

      Hi Mayank! I use Cass Art's own brand cold pressed watercolour paper: www.cassart.co.uk/cass-art-jumbo-gummed-watercolour-pad-300gsm-50-sheets/
      It's great value for money, but only available in the UK I believe.

    I love the way you share your thought process, it's amazingly helpful! Do you have any plans for a Patreon? If so, I'll be there! Thank you for your lovely art and channel.

      Hi Christie! I don't have plans for a Patreon (the though of a monthly commitment seems scary 😀). But I am working on creating online courses at the moment.
