48 HRS is probably one of my all-time favourite movies. It just received the 4K treatment which came out, at least at my local video store, this past Tuesday. Glad to see that Fast Times at Ridgemont High wound up on your list. For me personally, Phoebe Cates was a goddess.

Great list dude! First blood would be my #1 for all the reasons you said. A great character study of a war veteran suffering from PTSD ! The thing would be #2 for me. Funny enough, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell are my top 2 favorite actors lol! 👊👊👊👍👍
My favourite movie from this list is also my favourite horror movie ever, The Thing! First Blood is in my top 10 action films and Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch is in my top 20 horror films.

A pretty solid list, ive seen and own most of these. Ive never seen The King of Comedy, perhaps i will. Believe it or not, i saw E.T. once in my 30s, and i wasnt a fan. Maybe ill rewatch it sometime. Its really nice to see someone else showing some damn love for Halloween III, one of my favorites in the franchise. I agree, they shouldnt have put the Halloween name on it. And wow, no Creepshow or Wrath of Kahn? How interesting, both of these would not only be on my top ten of 82, but favs of all time list!! And The Thing....nuff said!! Love it! Good job dude!

I finally decided to check out Halloween 3 earlier this year. Man I’ve been missing out. As a kid I never wanted to watch it because of the obvious, no Michael Meyers’s in it, but now it’s my favorite of the Halloween franchise. The first time I watched it, I watched it again right after it was over. I’ve seen it like 15 times now and I’m not tired of it at all. I ordered the 4K release. I’m going to binge watch the hell out of it once it arrives.
1. Blade Runner 2. The Thing (1982) 3. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch 4. Rocky 3 5. First Blood 6. ET: The Extra Terrestrial 7. The Kings of Comedy 8. Poltergeist 9. Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan 10. Friday the 13th: Part 3
Great list, Mad Max 2 is my fav, I got the feeling at the end of Rambo Last Blood, that he dies at the end, as I said Cody, great list, can't wait for 83
Whittling this down from 19 to 10 was tough. 1. The Thing 2. Creepshow 3. Conan the Barbarian 4. Halloween 3 5. First Blood 6. Fast Times at Ridgemont High 7. Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan 8. Rocky 3 9. Night Shift 10. 48 Hrs.
Great list I finally watched the thing for the first time a couple of weeks ago and is already one of my favourite horrors of all time the atmosphere was amazing it was so immersive and the practical effects were insane I still need to watch the prequel though.
Good shit! I feel the same way about alot of these particulary H3, ET, poltergeist and The Thing which is by a thousand miles my #1. Whenever I see or hear 1982 The Thing is always the first thing to come to mind. Even if it's the year a vehical I'm looking at was made lol
Another great list video. 1982 was a great year for movies. I would have put "Star Trek II" on my list for certain, but I grew up with the original series and the movies. And that particular movie hit me hard as a kid. You got me intrigued in checking out "King of Comedy". A friend of mine loves that flick and seeing it on your list too might have convinced me to actually check it out. As for "Blade Runner", I'm with you. I used to LOVE that movie. But as time has gone on, my love turned into appreciation. I can't remember who said it, (Roger Ebert maybe), but they pointed out that if the movie was actually "great" then Scott wouldn't feel the need to keep releasing different edits of it. In the end I love the world it created, and its influence in sci-fi, video games and animation is undeniable. But as a whole, it kinda falls flat.
Wow. Never realized just how much King of comedy inspired Todd Phillip's Joker. I know it's compared to taxi driver more but it closely resembles king of comedy to a T almost.
I was thinking the same thing when listening to Cody describe it. I've never seen tKoC, and I had heard of some parallels with the Joker, but this almost seems like it's a remake with a different title
I absolutely agree with everything you said about The Thing. Check out this movie from 1982 if you haven't seen it. The Verdict with Paul Newman. I think you would really like it. If you do like it you should check out Slapshot with Newman from 1977.
I skipped _Halloween III_ when I was watching the franchise for the first time last October, but I'll definitely check it out this year. A nice one-off cult classic. Also gotta watch 48 Hrs. some day.

Another great list from my favourite movie decade. My favourites are: 10 Eating Raoul 9 Creepshow 8 The Thing 7 Friday the 13th Part 3 6 Slumber Party Massacre 5 Poltergeist 4 Halloween 3: Season of the Witch 3 Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan 2 Death Wish 2 1 48 Hours
Ok. Holdup a minute. U forgot 4 great movies. The World According to Garp. An Officer and a Gentleman. Night shift. Eating Raoul. That's what I'm talking about it
@Cody we all just wanted to know what was 10 thru 2 as we all knew what #1 was going to be :). I appreciate you for putting 48 hours in, as it has remained one of my top 25 to 50 favorite films of all time and a amazing debut of Eddie Murphy.
Cody, this list is so you! Halloween 3 higher than E.T. and Blade Runner! I'm definitely more of a classic Trek guy than you. I was born in 71 and when I was a young kid with 3 tv channels Star Trek reruns were the best. So the Star Trek movies have always had an impact. Star Trek 2 would probably be in my top 4. The one thing we agree on is The Thing. I went and saw the re-release in theaters a couple months back, and fortunately I went to the 2nd day showing (after all those complaints). 1982 maybe the best year of movies...while there wasn't a Star Wars movie this year. Everything else rocks! The Road Warrior is just timeless! Your thoughts are always fun! Looking forward to your The Thing retrospective.
Hell yeah! I've been waiting for this, it's my birth year. Happy Friday Cody! Edit: damn I didn't know The Thing came out in 82. Believe of not I never seen it til I heard you talk about it.
1. First blood 2. The thing 3. ET 4. The verdict 5. Tron 6. An officer and a gentleman 7. Halloween 3: season of the witch 8. Rocky 3 9. The house on sorority row 10. Poltergeist
My top 10 1. The Thing 2. E.T 3.First Blood 4. Star Trek 2 5. Poltergeist 6. Halloween 3 7. Rocky 3 8. Blade Runner 9. King of Comedy 10. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Here’s my list: 1. The Thing 2. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 3. First Blood 4. The Secret of NIMH 5. Blade Runner 6. Poltergeist 7. Halloween III: Season of the Witch 8. Basket Case 9. Fast Times at Ridgemont High 10. Conan the Barbarian (I will edit this list if I’ve changed my mind or have seen a movie since I made this list that I like enough to put in my Top 10 list)
I feel the same about Arnold, huge fan. Would also cry when meeting him. I wrote him a letter in the 4th grade. He wrote me back, much to the chagrin of my teacher who told me to “pick a better hero for a girl to write to”. 💪
I swear man, people with the same name as you also have the same taste as you too. I am also a Cody and everything you mentioned on this list I also love. It’s fucking wild.
My Favorite 1982 Movies Are 1. Rocky 3 ( My Favorite Rocky Movie Of All Time & In The Whole Wide World) 2. ET Classic Kids Family Film & Last But Not Least Rambo First Blood A.K.A. # 1 Cody.
This is the first time I've heard you confirm that you love Mad Max Fury Road and I'm so glad... if you didn't like Fury Road... I don't know if I could bear it. I hope you do a review on it and the rest of the series soon. Maybe after Furiosa comes out?
My top ten of 1982: 1) First Blood 2) The Thing 3) Blade Runner 4) Conan The Barbarian 5) The Dark Crystal 6) Poltergeist 7) E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial 8) Fast Times At Ridgemont High 9) Rocky III 10) The King Of Comedy Not really a movie, but the TV-series Police Squad! was (and still is!) awesome! Other great movies in 1982: 48 Hrs., Gandhi, Tootsie, Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Khan. Yeah...I stick to the first release date, so Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, was released in 1981. It was released in januari 1982 in my country , The Netherlands, but really, the release date is Australia 24th December 1981, so 1981.
Here are my favorite movies of 1982: Honorable mentions: Halloween 3: The Season Of Witch 48 Hrs King Of Comedy Conan The Barbarian 10: Blade Runner 9: The Poltergeist 8: Fast Times At Ridgemont High 7: Gandhi 6: Rambo First Blood 5: Star Trek 2 Wrath Of Khan 4: John Carpenter’s The Thing 3: Secret Of NIMH 2: Tootsie 1: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Great list Cody and take care and stay safe 👍.
10. Poltergeist 9. Secret of nimh 8. Fast times at Ridgemont high 7. Tron 6. The wall 5. Creepshow 4. Blade runner 3. Star trek 2, 2. Halloween 3, 1. The Thing - which is also my favorite all time
After traumatizing me with Raiders of the Lost Ark the year before, my dad decided to permanently wreck me by taking my the The Thing at the ripe age of 9. I was freaked out but it's legit one of my favorite movies of all time (behind Raiders of course) probably due to that theatrical experience. My kids are AMAZED that they didn't have CGI effects back then when we watch this today. It's a legit great horror movie but also an amazing psychological thriller.
It's too bad that Lawrence Monoson hasn't acted in films for 12 years, if they ever make a biopic on crazy Gambino crime family mobster Roy DeMeo or anything including this character, he'd be a good candidate for that part.
You say that you wanted to go strictly by US release dates, then by that logic The King of Comedy should be included with 1983 because it only got released in late 1982 in Iceland, it got released in early 1983 in the US
I need to say that ET: The Extra-Terrestrial is my favorite movie of all time. It's like having a spiritual journey in a 2-hour movie and I was born in 2000.
My Top 10 1. The Thing 2. First Blood 3. Rocky 3 4. Fast Times At Ridgemont High 5. Conan The Barbarian 6. Blade Runner 7. Silent Rage 8. Death Wish 2 9. Poltergeist 10. ET The Extraterrestrial 11. Max Max Road Warrior 12. Star Trek 2 Wrath Of Khan
Blade Runner Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial The Thing 48 Hours The King of Comedy-I saw this right before Joker and it's a hidden gem. Mad Max Road Warrior Rocky 3
I'm so glad I found this channel u are a gem. Your voice isn't annoying or loud and laid back. A+ for the awesome atmosphere!!! ;)

3 Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan
2 Death Wish 2
1 48 Hours
Ok. Holdup a minute. U forgot 4 great movies. The World According to Garp. An Officer and a Gentleman. Night shift. Eating Raoul. That's what I'm talking about it
Love *Fast Times at Ridgemont High* great comedy with a great cast!!!
@Cody we all just wanted to know what was 10 thru 2 as we all knew what #1 was going to be :). I appreciate you for putting 48 hours in, as it has remained one of my top 25 to 50 favorite films of all time and a amazing debut of Eddie Murphy.
Dope shirt, I'm predicting Robocop will make the top 10 of 1987 🤔
E.T. is my jam. Probably my favorite movie of 1982.
Poltergeist is my second favourite movie of all time. I love it to bits. I also love Slumber Party Massacre from 1982. Watch it every year.
Compared to the previous two years, I was surprised with how stacked this year was
Wait til 85 and 86!
@@CodyLeachYT 84 will also be awesome for horror and action movies

5. Blade Runner
6. Poltergeist

I think the thing is definitely my favorite horror film along side Halloween 3
Creepshow 2 sucks!!!!
@@mikewarner5583no one asked
The Overseer cody did
@@mikewarner5583 I don’t care. This comment has nothing to do with Creepshow 2.
I feel the same about Arnold, huge fan. Would also cry when meeting him. I wrote him a letter in the 4th grade. He wrote me back, much to the chagrin of my teacher who told me to “pick a better hero for a girl to write to”. 💪
Love to see 48hrs make honorable mention favorite Eddie Murphy move.
“New Sheriff in town…and his name is Reggie Hammond”
1982 was a stellar year for sci-fi movies:
- Blade Runner
- Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan
- The Thing
- E.T.
- Tron
- The Masters of Time
I swear man, people with the same name as you also have the same taste as you too. I am also a Cody and everything you mentioned on this list I also love. It’s fucking wild.
Great list. I own all of them on Blu-ray except for Rocky 3 but we watched the shit out of it on cable TV.
Here is my list:
1 - First Blood
2 - Rocky 3
3 - The Thing
4 - E.T. the Extraterrestrial
5 - Conan the Barbarian

My Favorite 1982 Movies Are 1. Rocky 3 ( My Favorite Rocky Movie Of All Time & In The Whole Wide World) 2. ET Classic Kids Family Film & Last But Not Least Rambo First Blood A.K.A. # 1 Cody.
Got to respectfully disagree with the thing being carpenters best film but I do agree it’s a masterpiece, nice list
I think both Halloween and Assault on Precinct 13 are better, but The Thing is right there in his Top 3!
The best is of course Escape From New York. :)
You should continue on with these till 1990
The year I was born!
This is the first time I've heard you confirm that you love Mad Max Fury Road and I'm so glad... if you didn't like Fury Road... I don't know if I could bear it. I hope you do a review on it and the rest of the series soon. Maybe after Furiosa comes out?
My top ten of 1982:
1) First Blood
2) The Thing
3) Blade Runner
4) Conan The Barbarian
5) The Dark Crystal
6) Poltergeist
7) E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
8) Fast Times At Ridgemont High
9) Rocky III
10) The King Of Comedy
Not really a movie, but the TV-series Police Squad! was (and still is!) awesome!
Cant wait 4 mad max 2 on ps5!!!
I'd love a sequel
Cody Leach apparently its in the pipeline. Fingers 🤞
Last American Virgin is awesome. I watched it the first time this year on CED Videodisc. Poor Gary

Great list Cody and take care and stay safe 👍.
glad to see some love for Blade Runner, I echo your comments for sure.
Thing is my favorite horror movie ever too
I think Das Boot also belongs on this list. And yes it wasn't released in North America until 1982.
I’m interested in seeing your top 10 movies of 1983 because when you compare to a year like 82, 86 or 85, it wasn’t a stacked year.
My top 4 is tough to rank, but it would be your top 2 with Halloween 3 and Conan the Barbarian added.
Where can I watch the last American virgin? I can't find it on any app
It's too bad that Lawrence Monoson hasn't acted in films for 12 years, if they ever make a biopic on crazy Gambino crime family mobster Roy DeMeo or anything including this character, he'd be a good candidate for that part.
This is great
You say that you wanted to go strictly by US release dates, then by that logic The King of Comedy should be included with 1983 because it only got released in late 1982 in Iceland, it got released in early 1983 in the US
On this list i rewatch rambo, halloween 3 and the thing the most.
83 is wildddd, My Pops says 86 goated so i can’t wait for that.
and E.T is MIDDDDDD 😂😂😂😂🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🍅
The king of comedy, you either love it or you hate it. Me personally, I always loved it.
I need to say that ET: The Extra-Terrestrial is my favorite movie of all time. It's like having a spiritual journey in a 2-hour movie and I was born in 2000.
The king of comedy is on Vudu. I bought it a few months ago. Now I want to watch it. -scott
My Top 10
1. The Thing

Alright it’s killing me and I’ve been looking everywhere. What is that song in the intro of the video?
Coddyyyyy
I don't know if you ever played any of the Fallout games but Mad Max is a HUGE impact on that video game franchise
Spoiler alert we know what Cody Leach number one film of 1988 is going to be Die Hard. PS Die Hard is not a Christmas movie.
Blade Runner
Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan
E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial
The Thing
48 Hours
The King of Comedy-I saw this right before Joker and it's a hidden gem.
Mad Max Road Warrior
Rocky 3
