I love making this series please share it if you can and tickle buttons - easily my favourite to make. A huge job, but well worth it to highlight developers and publishers who at least prioritise the end product, even if it is a little late sometimes. Mark
To let you know about battlefront. Those servers are REGIONAL servers. Weirdly the server list only displays regional servers which I think is a crime.
It is a good port and the last patch is nice, but there are crashes if you play long sessions or travel many different locations in game > low Switch RAM memory / algorithm graph textures - cache - similar like GoW (2018) on SteamDeck (refresh game textures in options)
Keep in mind, penny's big breakaway's 60 fps mode only really works in docked mode, it really can't keep a steady framerate on portable mode, it just switches back to 30 automatically whenever it can't keep up, which is often in portable mode.
Thank you so much for sharing the new patch of My Time at Sandrock. It's so exciting to release it and show everyone how good the Switch version has become!🥳
On Penny's Big Breakaway, in addition to switching to Performance mode, I also recommend turning off "depth of field" - gets rid of that fuzzy noise in the BG (and I THINK improves fps in some of the more geometry dense levels)!
These are my favorite videos on all of TH-cam. Sometimes I have to choose between games to purchase. Usually, I'll wait for a sale. This series of videos have literally caused me to both spend AND save money at the same time. Thank you for these!
Absolutely love the APU series...it's a brilliant idea, especially for the geriatric Switch. I'm frankly surprised more Switch based content channels don't do patched up videos. Perhaps they don't have the equipment or technical knowhow, or maybe they just don't care to do it 🤔😅..either way, as a viewer I very much appreciate these videos. Cheers gentlemen.
Same here. Considering many developers have maxed out the performance of the Switch at this point, it's all about optimization. And I'm super interested to see how devs are optimizing their games and if I should start playing them after the latest updates.
So cool of you to do ‘all patched up’ videos. Interested in sandrock & Borderlands having played and enjoyed their previous games. Just platinumed Cyberpunk and it has to be one of my favourite games in a longtime.
@SwitchUpYt Aha, that sounds great! The promise of Borderlands 2 on the PS Vita working as intended at the time was sort of like the idea of dreaming that England could go to a World Cup final and win the entire tournament for a second time. What actually happened was the 2014 World Cup 🙂
It was spectacular 15-24fps, but the game was so addictive I had so many hours even though I didn't like it's art style, let alone the graphics on Vita
@BadEnd98 It was addictive for sure. Despite the awful framerate, I also stuck with it longer than I probably should've because I wanted to justify my purchase 😅 Look where we are now, though. Borderlands 3 all patched up on the Switch and running decently.
I finished it on Vita but it froze on me at least 3 times and the final boss fight was broken I’m pretty sure cause I stood in one spot and shot at the enemy and they never retaliated 😂
And to put a fun fact here: Easy Red II is still patching up on switch, with new maps, a bit enhancement performancewise. Even if that looks like something on switch it's an quite unique game and experience on the switch😃
I always hit the like button for you guys, especially when an episode of all patched up is released. This is by far my fav series on TH-cam, no joke. The amount of work you put into the video is incredible. You also focus on some great games. I might need to pick up My Time at Sandrock now. Keep up the amazing efforts 🎉
Getting Borderlands 3 on switch now after looking at the update. Gyro aiming in shooters probably the biggest plus in me double dipping, but especially when its patched to run alot cleaner
Can you check if the performance on "The Last Faith" has improved? Excellent video as always. I love that your channel does this. Thank you so much for your videos.
Really appreciate these update videos. So many games are not bought because they were released in a poor state, yet have had good improvements since so it's a shame. Good for you for trying to rectify that. Enjoyed the "do what you want" at the end of the vid lol
Yay, another video in one of the most important series!☺️ I'm so glad to hear My Time at Sandrock has improved! I just recently considered it while splurging on some physical games and was wondering whether the devs have patched it up yet :D And wowza to Square for the Star Ocean 2 remake, I love to hear about devs adding a nice chunk of content for free, hehe!
Gaming has changed so much just in the last ten years and this isn’t a criticism on your channel at all I LOVE you guys. But back then no one talked about frame rates and all that tech stuff and we didn’t care, but now people take that stuff seriously so my question is am I the only person who still doesn’t care at all about any of that, game fun my caveman brain likes it lol. Is anyone else like me or am I the outlier?
We didn't care generally because the games didn't have game breaking bugs. I don't remember games crashing nearly as much as they do now. Performance for sure was generally worse but for example, the N64 used to run at 19fps but it would tend to maintain it's framerate rather than going all over the shop. Mark
Thanks so much for your All Patched Up videos. It shows which games have the heart of the developer backing it and it shows that you're passionate about delivering worthwhile information to players.
Mark's all like "Huuuuukhhhhhh, Battlefront, I find your lack of gyroscopics disturbing, huuuuukhhhhhhhh." (Not to be confused with gyros, that Greek dish almost as cheap as a Savaloy)
Playing in the U.S., Battlefront 2 servers have been 95% full since the update. Might be dramatically different for UK but here it’s a party. Having the most fun with it !
Thanks for putting in the time to get us this information. I absolutely love these all patches up episodes. Also glad to see evening Star have been improving penny. Top notch developers I tell you And also HD Rumble Is one of the best features the switch has the offer I love it
The Borderlands 3 patch was absolutely amazing and it is wild that the game still has 40-45fps while having quite good textures that don't look like Playdough. I have this game on Series X but I will be getting this for Switch for handheld mode and the fact it is $20 online these days
Props to you guys for remembering the Vita version of Borderlands 2. I mean, they tried, right? And it was playable, but it served as a reminder that handheld gaming will always be at least one step behind consoles in performance. That's just how it works... the smaller the package, the smaller the punch.
I added to my wishlist "My Time at Black Rock" and "Penny's Big Breakaway" just because the developers cared enough to truly fix their games. You have to support developers when they do that.
This series is always nice. Sometimes we abandon a game because we hope it’ll get better down the line and I’m glad this is the case with many titles lately. There are no miracles like some players expect/demand, but it’s awesome to see devs taking care of their games.
No Man's Sky got an update on the Switch yesterday. Now there are new space stations and you can build your own ship (have not tried yet, as I started a fresh new game on it)
I was surprised to hear Unturned online did not work for you. I just played Unturned with one of my friends online this past Tuesday. We had no issues connecting. I will say we did have a wierd issue where some of the zombies were invisible and loaded in for one person but not the other. Which was horrifying. But we switched regions from Canada to one of the US regions and after that, we were fine.
Sorry to be the one pointing this out, but Penny’s 60 fps is anything but flawless. Even in the level you showcased there are already patches of slowdown that weren’t nearly as bad as on quality mode, which kind of ruins the whole point of a performance mode if the performance is somehow worse than on quality mode, despite occasional bits of 60 fps. Lots of work left to be done before that can be called ‘flawless’.
It's flawless, apparently, in docked mode and unfortunately a complete laggy mess, jumping btwn 30fps & 60fps in portable mode. Really sux too as I was initially not going to get the Switch version because of it running only at 30fps. So when I heard a 60fps performance mode got patched in recently, I was over the moon excited... only to then once again be let down once I learned portable mode couldn't maintain the solid 60fps that got patched in. What a roller coaster of emotions supporting the Switch can often be. I think it's finally time to save up for a Steamdeck or any of the other portable PC's.
@@sofaking1180 Oh, thanks for the correction! I think that’s actually pretty neat, then I’ll play it docked later today and see. But yeah, with the switch you have to make sacrifices more and more often, the time for switch 2 is nigh on that end.
@@sofaking1180 tried it docked, the patches of slowdown were definitely still present, just less than in portable. Quality mode it is. Definitely hits me as if switchup sadly just tried one level and assumed the entire game was fine somehow.
Happily follow this series, probably one of my favourites, even if I'm not invested in the games featured in that episode. What games would SwitchUp and family like to see in future here? I haven't got any myself as yet as I'm behind on new games but I still care to know what others are chasing. Thanks Mark for creating this, and other valuable SwitchUp content. Cheers! 😊
It's always interesting seeing how these games handle performance vs quality. I do wish more of them had battery saver modes like GRID Autosport. It would also be nice if they had independent selectors for graphics quality while docked vs graphics quality while portable. (If it's not obvious I'm still using a launch-day Switch and battery performance is not great on those things.)
lol, I always hit that like button, you can request it if it feels right. Thanks for the patched up videos, these are invaluable!I think Penny’s Big Breakaway is in my near future now.
Great series, please keep ‘em coming. Can you do an update on Potion Permit? I heard there were issues at launch and would like to know it it’s been fixed now. Thanks!
I love this series!!! It is very informative and can shine spotlights onto gsmes thst were not great, but are now amazing. I'm curious about "Black Skylands". Has it been patched properly for performance, or not really?
Bought the Borderlands 3 on switch since I finished all other games in it. Men, this made me realize how much I wanted a handheld PC instead. BL3 really drops frames consistently, especially on Eden-6. But, I'm still hopeful on this update so I'll test it again and see. Thank you
This new era of releasing broken games with no physical ownership isnt for me. If you don't release a finished game on physical, I'm likely not going to buy it. Exceptions for small indie projects under $20 that just can't do a physical release
Yep totally agree with you there matey, I'm now a Deck gamer but keep an eye on switch for Emulation purposes. Early access games I can forgive the occasional issue, but a couple of big botched releases recently like Dogma 2 and Starfield are just a total p1ss take to be fair... Such a shame and it seems nowadays you have to check out YT videos and user reviews to avoid wasting your money.... Like in what other industry can consumers buy a product that literally doesn't come close to doing what its advertised as doing.... This should be a trading standards issue surely with big fines handed out to the companies responsible.... Shocking.
Great Series, thanks for all of your efforts! Shadowrun Trilogy: Nintendo Life stated „constant performance issues, including stuttering frame rates, long loading times, unresponsive and sticky controls, and a serious bug that freezes your game entirely at points“ Can you please revisit it? Best. Lezrock
As far as I’ve seen the Devs have made no comment on the switch port. At this point I think they have abandoned it since they are working on the second game. I couldn’t even finish the game since the port was so bad.
That game was years late to come to the switch (announced for Summer 22 release originally) - and as with all the cases like that it will never be fixed because they tried for years extra already to get it to work before release and couldn't.
I wonder will Kingdom Come: Deliverance be patched again? It's amazing it's running, but I would love to see it get a little more attention and Polish.
Regarding Penny's, I saw another video where someone pointed out that the game drops below 60 in some busier areas. Not sure why you didn't see the same problems.
@@SwitchUpYt It might be worth mentioning that in docked mode The 60FPS patch works like a charm, but in portable mode it can't reach a steady 60 FPS to save its life. And because I only play in portable mode, I unfortunately am not going near this game on Switch unless they can get it to 60fps in portable mode. This game needs to be played with a smooth & steady 60fps... anything less and it's simply doesn't control nearly as well.
Bro, don’t feel bad about reminding people to like the videos! It might feel cringe and corny, but if it works and supports your business, do it. I heard you say it and I heard someone that had worked hard to offer valuable information at no cost to consumers asking for a small amount of support to help keep the business going. You’re not a “TH-camr” you’re a games journalist helping consumers make informed decisions and applying pressure the Switch marketplace to deliver good experiences to players. You asked me to like, I liked!
I know he's saying "HD rumble," but all I hear is "Hasty Rumble." Not a complaint, just genuinely made me chuckle lol. Also, Borderlands 3 on Switch is awesome. Sure, it looks like mud compared to the better versions, but I get gyro aiming, and I can play it ANYWHERE 😊. My biggest complaint is it still crashes most of the time coming out of suspend, and it can cause the Switch to work the hell out of its itty bitty cooling fan. Which, in turn, causes frame skips, etc. Even with these gripes, I have probably put somewhere in the realm of forty to fifty hours into it.
What about the gyro (motion controls) sensitivity fix in Borderlands 3? In comparison to Borderlands 2 and 1 the lowest / slowest setting is still much too fast / too sensitive for aiming!
Yeah this series is great, always refer back to it.
Any info on another patch for Arkham? That last one almost worked but now I'm stuck trying to arrest the Riddler & it won't load.
Best series, where bad games become good, and good games become better! We do not speak of Pokemon.
Nor of Palworld cause of Xbox dumb decision.
The first rule of switchup is we don't talk about Pokemon.
You guys are heroes for doing this series 🎉😊
Cheers I do really enjoy making these episodes - although they are quite the job it's a fun one. Mark
I guess that's why literally no other channels capitalize on this slamdunk idea! But that's also what makes y'all's channel so awesome!
Borderlands 3 - there's also an option in the graphic settings that allows you to select uncapped frame rates or capped at 30.
Yeah it was weird to me that was a suggestion when that’s the mode I play it on since they added it in the first patch.
Booooooyaa nice!!
It is a good port and the last patch is nice, but there are crashes if you play long sessions or travel many different locations in game > low Switch RAM memory / algorithm graph textures - cache - similar like GoW (2018) on SteamDeck (refresh game textures in options)

Perfect for overclocking.

Long-Necked Luke should be a playable character in Battlefront. Simply awesome.
Had no idea Star Ocean Sec9nd Story R received this update. I haven't finished it yet, so this is amazing!
Didn’t even know there was a Borderlands 3 patch. This is precisely why I love you guys 🔥

@@rawels.1605 well I was wrong - they are going to cover it again apparently!
Regarding Penny's, I saw another video where someone pointed out that the game drops below 60 in some busier areas. Not sure why you didn't see the same problems.
Yeah it does for around 1/2 a second....every once in a blue moon. Simply not noteworthy. Mark

It might be worth mentioning that in docked mode The 60FPS patch works like a charm, but in portable mode it can't reach a steady 60 FPS to save its life. And because I only play in portable mode, I unfortunately am not going near this game on Switch unless they can get it to 60fps in portable mode. This game needs to be played with a smooth & steady 60fps... anything less and it's simply doesn't control nearly as well.
So nice to see developers actually care about their games and those that play them! Pity others dont though 😅
I really hope a patch comes for Unturned and even then I’ll wait for another sale if Unturned on Switch will ever get support post launch.
On a Friday evening I was able to get into a Battlefront game with about 60 people and it didn't seem to be too laggy or anything awful.
Second story R continues to just get better and better
Jeeej, a new "all patched up"😊. Love this, please keep this up!
Star Ocean 2 made me fall in love with rpgs again ❤
I just wanted symmetry so added this one in
You Know it
I hit the like button because I liked the video, NOT because you told ,me to! Peer pressure sucks!
Wow!! Glad I didn’t blindly buy unturned when I saw it on the switch. Loved it on the pc! Hopefully they can get it fixed up.
A hasty HD rumble is heaven on a huddled handheld
@@SwitchUpYt Awe! I absolutely adore alliteration 😉
I Love IT when the title IS called Patched 😊🎉
I would love to see an all patched video of Contra operation galuga. Specifically on the Nintendo switch because I've experienced crashes.
Awesome! I can’t wait to see what Nintendo brings for its next gen console.
For sure! Mark
What about the gyro (motion controls) sensitivity fix in Borderlands 3? In comparison to Borderlands 2 and 1 the lowest / slowest setting is still much too fast / too sensitive for aiming!
Uuuh the best series 😍 let's gooo
