Edit: So it turns out there are still a ton of geometry issues in Little kitty annoyingly. Although mine seem fixed many are having issues. Hi everyone, as promised, trying to get these out more regularly. Let me know what thought! Let's revisit a bunch of Switch games including BIomutant, Batman, Wartales and more! This was kindly sponsored by Warhamer Dakka Squadren which also has a massive patch out - check out the game here: www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Warhammer-40-000-Dakka-Squadron-FLYBOYZ-EDITION-2526543.html
Dakka looks much better, but the camera is still so jarring and janky that I had to uninstall again - you can see what I mean in the footage included in this video, especially when banking. Hoping the next patch focuses on those issues.
Poor Batman :( But seriously, it's not good enough...This is why I respect smaller studios/indies much more. They work SO hard on their games and even do free DLC. That's how it's done
Its a real shame as I was hoping to experience this series for the first time on any platform but I can't justify the physical price of $89AUD for two great games and one mess. You can't really enjoy and conclude the narrative in a trilogy if the third is unplayable. Saddening 😞
I genuinely think they could have released Asylum and City and passed on Knight, and it would have been fine. It was a dumb move to put out a bad port that drags the whole thing down. I had a blast replaying the first two.
@@SwitchUpYt Even Arkham Asylum and City are compromised. If it wasn't for Arkham Knight being a complete train wreck, people would have been harder on Asylum and City for not running at a more consistent 30fps. They are serviceable, but they really should have been perfect on Switch.
To be fair, I don't think Arkham Knight was ever designed to run reasonably well on hardware like the Switch - there's really only so much you can do when a game is designed around more memory bandwidth/CPU power etc. without radically re-designing a game. The Switch has some very real limitations based on its specs and form-factor. Granted, some developers have managed to squeeze a little more out of the hardware than others, but at this point I don't really think there are any tricks that will lead to radical performance gains - the hardware is what it is.
It blows my mind that anyone would say you shouldn't re visit games.. that's like saying whatever grade you got on the very first test you ever took should be the same grade you get all throughout schooling. Updates happen, things in game change. So should the review of said game. Love love love these videos, thank you sir!
I think people don't like the practice of developers/publishers releasing games in unfinished states. They feel re-visiting games is "rewarding" this bad practice. (Honestly though, most publishers/channels don't re-visit games, so the initial poor release still impacts the games perception long term, even if fixed.) I also don't like this practice, but I prefer games that get fixed eventually to games released in bad shape and never get fixed. If a developer/publisher makes the effort to get a game to the place it should have been at launch, I'm glad there is a videos like this that will shed light on that.
As much as I love that games are fixed and improved for those who bought them, rarely is it such a night-and-day difference that it warrants bumping up the initial score. I've put hundreds of hours into MK1 on Switch and I love that they've continually fixed it, but to say that it's gone from a 4/10 to a 6/10 still isn't high praise.
I absolutely love this series and am so happy you do them. Please continue to produce these where needed for this Switch and on into the next one. It is incredibly helpful for me and I'm sure many others in knowing what patches have arrived and if a game has been improved and to what degree. Thank you SwitchUp and Mark especially for taking the time to make these.

Speaking of Switch ports that have been improving like Mortal Kombat 1, it was in the news recently that Nintendo acquired Shiver; the studio that worked on the MK11 and MK1 ports. I do wonder if this means Nintendo will be able to step in and help them optimize the game even more.
Arkham Origins will never be bundled with the other Arkham Games because it was made by a different developer/company. That is one of the reasons why Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill do not voice Batman/Bruce Wayne and the Joker in it.
If the Switch 2 is backward compatible and devs release free patches or paid “next-gen updates”, this channel will blow up with this format that you got going on. I cannot wait for what’s in store for you guys!
this is what I liked about this channel.. we forgot about the games we bought that sux bcoz of their performance.. only to realize there's a patch and now we can enjoy our money's worth.. lol..
This is one of my favorite of your video series on your channel. Games I may have passed on upon release to find out whether or not they’re worth purchasing yet. Thanks for all you do!
I think it's great to re-score things. People need to know about the improvements; it also helps give feedback to these developers. It is absolutely fair to do this and it should be done. Good for you guys!!
I was JUST looking for an update on Wartales and here you guys are coming through! Thank you for the coverage. Now I feel I can be excited to try it out. Cheers!
Recently got Outer Worlds, yes, it’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s a great game to have on the go, especially with no fallout on switch and runs pretty well
Ya know what's sad is Bloodstained Ritual of the Night never got a graphics/FPS update for the Switch. So it's stuck having blurry models, but yet still receives new content. :/
BioMutunt on Switch has gotten better than when it was the last time I watched you review it. Now, if Pokemon Scarlet and Violet get some decent performance updates.
I love this series, some channels do update videos about one or two games every once and a while but a reliable series like this is unique to this channel as far as I know. Sadly this is also really important for a lot of switch ports that are sometimes even broken at launch to get that Switch money on same release day or sometimes even months after. Nintendo doesn't technically allow early access but a lot of games show up much much worse than early access on steam. Hopefully Nintendo change their mind about early access for Switch 2. This and interesting games are my favourite series your channel does.
I must be the only one that didn't have a bunch of issues with Bloodstained Ritual of the Night and I have a physical copy, it has ran just fine for me since the first time I played it.
I appreciate the disclaimer at the beginning regarding Batman Arkham Knight. WB should refund all of us 1/3 of our money. Well, had I bought the game on Switch. But solidarity, yo.
I finished Arkham Knight the other day (about 80% of all missions). It was definitely playable from start to end, but there are moments where fps really dip (especially when driving the Batmobile). I feel that if performance was a bit better during driving parts it would be decent... Oh, and there were about 4 or 5 crashes in my playthrough, usually when putting villains on the back of the car for taking them to GCPD.
I recently bought batman as it went down to £28.99 in the sale. I'm starting at the beginning but I decided to try Arkham knight just to see what like and yeah, it looks rough. I played to the batmobile section and it's jumpy but go be honest I can live with it. Maybe it's because I'm from the generation of players that uses to play 3D flight Sims on a commodore 64 that used to run at 1 frame per second. I'm also one of those people that can still play racing games even if they don't have "racing lines" switched on. Remember that? When you had to judge corner speed from actually memorising the track and not just keeping your eyes glued on a green and red racing line.
If you have any update on Batman Arkham Trilogy updates patch, please keep us updated as best as you can. Also, thanks for the update of Mortal Kombat 1 Switch update patch it seems like its playable.
Great to see such big improvements this week! Amazing to see how much is still coming out for the Switch. I suspect that Nintendo has already been quietly assuring publishers of their commitment to compatibility in their next console, but I'm still guessing we'll see fewer big releases as the year goes on.
Thanks for doing these. I always appreciate hearing about games that have been improved with patches, makes me reconsider picking up games I initially passed on given their launch state.
Thank you for jumping back into theses games and re-reviewing these games to keep them updated. You're doing God's work. Also, yes, Arkham Origins would be a decent substitute if Knight can't be patched up to be optimal for Switch
I live for these videos. Sometimes the biggest games need a little work before I buy them. And then they end up on sale after as well. I come look for these videos when I'm not sure about a patch
Arkham Origins was developed by WB Montreal, not Rocksteady, and also never re-released for PS4/XB1 like the first two games. Is that why it's not on the Switch collection instead of Rocksteady's Arkham Knight?
Bloodstained doesn't have any Switch updates from the previous patch other than the new co-op/versus mode and Shantae costume set (free) premium costume (paid dlc) like all the other platforms
Thank you for always reviewing the updates! There are games that I skipped getting because of the bad reviews on its release date. If there are improvements on them, I'm taking it on consideration on having it.
Batman isn’t nearly as bad as most people have said. I’ve completed everything except a few pesky Riddle trophies. I’m not saying the game runs great, but it’s playable and still an overall enjoyable experience.
@SwitchUp The stuttering shadows in Biomutant is because the shadows aren't being updated in realtime but at periodic intervals. This would have been done to save CPU power for other things.
In response to people that say you shouldn't revisit games, I 100% disagree. I think it's fantastic that you do these and more importantly I think it's important to the developers. I never would have picked up Baldo without your recommendation and your recommendation only came after it saw a slew of updates. I hope you all keep doing these as I find them incredibly helpful.
Would it be possible for your team to keep the games name in a corner of the screen as you're talking about them? Often times on this series and your Deals series it's easy to miss or forget the title by the time you get to The Verdict.
i am the one who has been asking for wartales for a long time! glad to see it is more playable now, i feel better about picking it up. now it's time to wait for the dlc! :P thanks guys!
Yes and no. It's nice to think that existing switch games that throttle themselves via draw distance and dynamic resolution will play better on Switch 2 before they even get thinks like 4K patches
41 minutes ago. I don't think I've ever been this early. Lol Keep up the great work! You guys are the first channel I look for regarding switch news/reviews!
Bloodstained v1.5 is so atrocious you can't believe it. Image quality has greatly improved BUT, since the previous patch v1.4, the game is no longer playable at all with an average frame rate around 15-20 fps. Its a massacre. Its unacceptable they keep selling the game in that state in 2024.
Would you guys consider talking about the MGS Master Collection again at some point? I hear it's been steadily improving and would love to find out if it's worth getting now.
Do a Patched Up segment on Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy. I know at launch it had some camera issues and keys looking invisible and some other visual glitches. With the physical edition coming out it would be good to revisit it to assure gamers of the current state of the game which has fixed most if not all of these issues
I picked Wartales up not long ago since it was on sale for the first time in forever. I'm glad to hear it's fixed now. Maybe that's the wrong order to do things, but I didn't know how long I'd have to wait until the next sale 😂
Who the hell thinks it’s bad that you guys go back and look at patches up games and adjust your review??? That’s one of the biggest amazing things that sets you guys leagues ahead of other reviewers!
I’ve said it before the end of the year that these games (Batman, hogwarts, mortal kombat,..etc) would not look or run properly or get the proper experience on the switch at this time and being a huge switch fan like everyone else it comes to a point and not to be ashamed to admit that we need new hardware right now
Any news on Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes? I'm really hoping they can fix the Switch version. It seems like there is so much potential with that game and to be able to play it on the go would be great.
Batman being given up on feels like the KOTR 2 situation. It’s sad compared to smaller devs like ConcernedApe who keep patching, updating and providing a wonderful experience.
I’m hoping for an update on Pennys Big Breakaway. I appreciate the recent performance update which aims for 60fps, but pretty much everyone’s experience is the same… if drops back to 30 so frequently that it’s distracting, most people just leave performance mode off. I hope the devs continue to work on achieving a stable 60fps
Would love to see another crabs treasure pop up in one of these videos soon. I really want to play the game but its honestly just not quite there yet for switch
I know it wont drive the algorithm, but itd be nice to cover Fallen Legion Revenants because it was patched up a lot. It just feels silly when you cover games that haven't been patched.
Every gaming medium should re-evaluate games after half a year or a year imo. I love this section. These days you buy 75% of a game (or wait in my case) and the original reviews are not really showing the game in its current, updated state. In which case you might be missing a hidden gem.
Would like to see an update on Contra: Operation Galuga. I've seen comments suggesting improved input latency and more stable performance, but haven't really seen any youtube videos covering the update.
I have a feeling that they are going to "patch up" Batman Arkham Knight; after the Switch 2 releases and they are able to impove the performance when ONLY playing it on the Switch 2; via backwards compatiblity.
@@JustFun-ho6qy You probably right. If anything; they may try to simply sell a better port of the game; a few years later down the line; if it is to cross promote something.
I say wait at least a year for Batman. It's not entirely unusual for significant updates to take time. And hopefully, it really benefits from the Switch 2.
This series is really helpful. Games should be reevaluated after updates, cause sometimes they can become significantly better, and sometimes they can be made worse. Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled added micro transactions after the review period cause they knew most people wouldn’t bother tweaking their reviews.
With the amount of work that gets done on some of these games on Switch it's clear that a lot of fhe reason for poor performance is pushing for a launch date. If they just had a bit more time they would be so much better, and it helps that the channel revisits to give us lot a better idea if a game is worth our time and money.
Edit: So it turns out there are still a ton of geometry issues in Little kitty annoyingly. Although mine seem fixed many are having issues.

Speaking of Switch ports that have been improving like Mortal Kombat 1, it was in the news recently that Nintendo acquired Shiver; the studio that worked on the MK11 and MK1 ports. I do wonder if this means Nintendo will be able to step in and help them optimize the game even more.
Or could also need help for a possible new Smash Game for Switch v2?
Yeah it's interesting that acquisition! Mark
@@MikeTheEnforcerThey have stated they want them to keep working on ports essentially.
Man. I live for these type of videos. Thanks for always revisiting games when they get updates
Cheers!
Recently got Outer Worlds, yes, it’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s a great game to have on the go, especially with no fallout on switch and runs pretty well
Yea we need a fallout game 😞
Did they improve the ridiculous load times?
@@richardgreathead5735 I don’t have a comparison to what it used to be, but I will say they’re better than Witcher 3 on PS4 😂
@@richardgreathead5735 The load times are probably down to slow storage and/or CPU
Ya know what's sad is Bloodstained Ritual of the Night never got a graphics/FPS update for the Switch. So it's stuck having blurry models, but yet still receives new content. :/
I pulled it out recently to see if it had been patched, but no, it's still a stuttery mess. It's terribly optimized on Switch.
I never had issues with my copy
Yeah, frame rate is still a mess, but they did added some kind of super resolution for AA, it looks better in docked mode now
Very glad to hear about Biomutant. This game just looks so unique I had to try it. Ordered the physical today and waiting to pick it up.
Man, I was hoping for an update for Another Crabs's Treasure
BioMutunt on Switch has gotten better than when it was the last time I watched you review it.
Now, if Pokemon Scarlet and Violet get some decent performance updates.
Patched up is by far on pf the best gamer videos to watch. Sometimes waiting for a patch makes a game worth playing at all.
Thank you, I dont know why, but I enjoy this series more than reviews, and I love you all's reviews!
Thank you mate! Mark
I'm so gutted about that Batman game, I'm going on partial hunger strike!
I just won't have any dinner dinner dinner dinner...
I bought the game on Switch but luckily I haven’t played it yet only Arkham City so far.
Still better than a lot of Xbox 360 and PS3 games in performance
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection are updated, would be interesting to see how you think it run.
I love this series. Really helps me decide on games and I appreciate the team working on these videos!
That background music is giving me some Vangelis vibes
..Like tears in the rain
This is by far the best series you guys run. Appreciate the updates and insight.
Cheers man! Mark
I've played a bunch of Wartales on steam deck and i love it a lot. Might pick it up on switch on a sale if that version is really getting better!
Thank you for jumping back into theses games and re-reviewing these games to keep them updated. You're doing God's work.
Also, yes, Arkham Origins would be a decent substitute if Knight can't be patched up to be optimal for Switch
Thanks guys!! Awesome video as always ❤️ goodnight!
As someone that recently started enjoying the handheld aspect of my switch but always worries about performance issues, thank you.
I live for these videos. Sometimes the biggest games need a little work before I buy them. And then they end up on sale after as well. I come look for these videos when I'm not sure about a patch
Still on the fence with regards to Biomutant but would really like to give the cat a go
Perfect sale pickup
You are right, Bloodstained has had another update, its on 1.5.0 (the Chaos and Vs update)
Ahhhhh that's a shame someone in comments told me it had. Mark
I’m not saying the game runs great, but it’s playable and still an overall enjoyable experience.
good to know about wartales! i completely missed this one, might get it at some point, thanks for the updates
what joy cons are those at 9:36 into the video
@SwitchUp The stuttering shadows in Biomutant is because the shadows aren't being updated in realtime but at periodic intervals. This would have been done to save CPU power for other things.
Seems much better in 1.0.1
In response to people that say you shouldn't revisit games, I 100% disagree. I think it's fantastic that you do these and more importantly I think it's important to the developers. I never would have picked up Baldo without your recommendation and your recommendation only came after it saw a slew of updates. I hope you all keep doing these as I find them incredibly helpful.
Good to see developers not giving up when a game launches in a less than ideal state
Would it be possible for your team to keep the games name in a corner of the screen as you're talking about them? Often times on this series and your Deals series it's easy to miss or forget the title by the time you get to The Verdict.
i am the one who has been asking for wartales for a long time! glad to see it is more playable now, i feel better about picking it up. now it's time to wait for the dlc! :P thanks guys!
It’s the regular patch ups that I think most people appreciate
Did Sports Story ever get fixed?
Ummmm good question
This game Wartales looks so cool, I missed that! Thanks for bringing it up in here! I might check it out
This is a beautiful series to revisit a bunch of your average rated games or games that had multiple patches.
Here hoping for a Biomutant update in this video!!
I think Nintendo actually intends to showcase this game again on their new console to showcase how it evolves console-wise.
It's sad to think that the Arkham Knight patch might turn out to be playing it on the Switch's successor vs the current Switch.
Yes and no.
It's nice to think that existing switch games that throttle themselves via draw distance and dynamic resolution will play better on Switch 2 before they even get thinks like 4K patches
wow little kitty looks like an interesting stray.
41 minutes ago. I don't think I've ever been this early. Lol
Keep up the great work! You guys are the first channel I look for regarding switch news/reviews!
Possible reason they added knight instead of origins is because origins is made by a different studio
Ooooof that's not good to hear. Mark
Will we see a next patch or something for Contra Operation Galuga on switch? I'm still experiencing crashes and some glitches.
Cheers mate we do get a few silly comments about it. Mark
What's wrong with the switch version? How does it play in comparison to the Steam Deck and Ally?
@@crestofhonor2349
I've heard there are performance issues horrible loading times during battles and menu screens. Game would crash in certain spots.
Batman being given up on feels like the KOTR 2 situation. It’s sad compared to smaller devs like ConcernedApe who keep patching, updating and providing a wonderful experience.
Glad to see Biomutant getting better! Great series, thanks for the updates 😊 and Batman with the flaming Switch is such a nice touch 🤣
Oh, it's nice to see Wartales is finally playable... looks like it's time to pick it up!
Good call on calling out the Batman games, thank you!
Thanks for the video👌
Still waiting for Rico London en Horizon chase 2 tho👌
I doubt it. Arkham Knight never got a PS5/Series S/X update either. Warner does not give a damn about quality.
@@JustFun-ho6qy You probably right. If anything; they may try to simply sell a better port of the game; a few years later down the line; if it is to cross promote something.
I would love to see Another Crabs Treasure in this review after the update 😊
