Joey Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Chestnut sets record in winning hot dog-eating rematch

- After not competing in this summer's July 4 hot dog-eating contest, Joey Chestnut is back on top.
Chestnut proved his place on the Mount Rushmore of sports legends by defeating his rival Takeru Kobayashi in a hot dog-eating contest streamed live Monday on Netflix.
Chestnut inhaled 83 hot dogs in 10 minutes to Kobayashi's 66 hot dogs in their first faceoff in 15 years.
Chestnut, 40, earned a $100,000 grand prize in the competition, dubbed "Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef," at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Kobayashi, 46, announced his retirement this year, but he said he would return for redemption against Chestnut. Kobayashi subsequently announced his retirement after the Netflix competition.
"I was trying to get 80 hot dogs for years, and without Kobayashi, I was never able to do it," Chestnut said. "He drives me. We weren't always nice to each other, but I love the way we push each other to be our best."

It's not really a world record because, like the Ft. Bliss hot dogs from July 4th, these hot dogs appear smaller than the Nathan's hot dogs.

Joey Chestnut hasn't eaten 66 Hotdogs or less in 10 mins since he lost to Matt Stone in 2015. While 66 is incredible, and would have beaten this years winner by almost 10......it still fails in comparison to 83!! WTF is that man made of, holy fu**!! Let's put this into perspective. Nathan's Hot Dog Competition is the biggest Hotdog competition in history. Chestnut was not able to compete this past year in 2024, and the winner of that competition ate 58 Hotdogs in 10 mins. Kobayashi would have won this year by almost 10 with this performance! And yet he still lost by almost 20 to Joey Chestnut!! If that doesn't go to show just how truly absolutely dominate Joey Chestnut is, nothing will. In lamens terms, if Joey Chestnut didn't exist, and Kobayashi was allowed to compete....he would have won 23 straight years in a row. Unfortunately for him, Chestnut does exist, and he is basically a MF'ing Human Grizzly Bear 🤣😂

Nathan’s already lowered the time from 12 minutes to 10 minutes (~15 years ago). Now they need to lower it to 8 minutes. Eating 66 & 83 hotdogs, is totally detrimental to your health.😮

When you think about what percentage of hot dogs is human meat, then you think about the sheer volume of hot dogs Joey Chestnut has eaten in his life, I think we are reaching historic levels of cannibalism.
