    Greetings Professor HyTeeEn.
    Here on Hel at the Hellsport Mech Museum, we have several Hellbringer Mechs. One of which has been restored to the 'Prime' configuration. The others are currently in the hands of the Hellsport Mek Werks, being tested with various configurations that are not the 'usual' series of alternates available to the Clans.
    The most promising is an almost total rebuild of the Mech, which has the ATM launcher and its ammo, along with the pods in the legs removed. The CASE II was also dispensed with, in favor of moving the ammo for the AMS and A Gauss Rifles to the Center Torso. This frees up enough tonnage to mount three more ER Medium Lasers, and increase armoring to 11 tons of Ferro-Fiberous Armor plating.
    ER PPCs are located as per usual, one per arm. The total of six ER Medium Lasers are split, three per Left and Right Torsos. The pair of AP Gauss Rifles are mounted, one per side torso, and the AMS remains implanted in the Head of the Mech.
    The armoring of the Mech is about as much as can be put in a 65-ton chassis using Ferro-Fiberous armor plating. This alone should make the Mech much harder to take out of combat, or 'kill' on the battlefield. Even with the volatile nature of the AMS ammo (the Guass ammo is merely metal rods and thus not an explosive risk) in the Center Torso, the CT armoring is thick enough that all the available AMS ammo should be fired off in missile defense before an Enemy can penetrate the Center Torso's thick armor plating.
    The ER PPCs and the ER Medium Lasers are range bracketed. Meaning that the PPCs are used until an Enemy closes range to effective ER Medium Laser range, where the PPCs are no longer fired, and the Mech relies upon the sextet of lasers exclusively.
    The Loki (Hellbringer) T-X (GL) still maintains the 17 Clan DSHS arrangement. Although this is 'excess' to the needs of movement and firing either the long range or short ranged groups of weapons, it does raise the possibility of firing one ER PPC and three of the ER Medium Lasers at an opponent, while still running at top speed. It also allows for Enemy fire to damage a heat sink, or two, and NOT push the Mech into the 'red zone'.
    Overall, I would estimate that the Mek Werks has 'done it again' in rebuilding a Clan Mech to perform to the peak of efficiency and 'balanced' output of firepower. The Mech can even lose one entire torso with only a moderate head load upon the machine. Still allowing the other arm and torso to output consistent damage to the Mech(s) or Vehicle(s) that so sorely wounded it.
    Losing both arms merely turns the T-X (GL) into a short ranged killing machine, since none of the heat sinks are located in the arms. The four C-DSHS are located one per side torso, and one per leg. This 'zombie' Mech would still output as much damage, albeit at shorter range, as the dual PPCs. Allowing the arm-less Mech to close and do terrible damage to an already wounded foe.
    To add insult to injury, at close ranges where the ER Mediums come into play, the AP Gauss Rifles would be employed to seek critical hits through combat-caused rents and gaps in the Enemy's armor, and if successful, do even more damage to the Enemy. They also make Infantry 'back off' after the first time the AP Gauss Rifles fire. Even if little damage is done. No Infantry squad WANTS to be hit with storms of metal projectiles hitting them at the speed of sound or higher.
    Although there are no further variants that the Mek Werks has 'owned up to', The Mech Museum staff has seen a 'variant' with one ton less of armoring, and additional AP Gauss Rifles.
    I do hope this missive reaches you and finds yourself in good health. Your reports upon various Mech types is appreciated here at both the Hellsport Mech Museum and the Mek Werks.
    With fond regards,
    Diana McFairlain,

    I love when the scenario tables have these when you run into the clans in the early invasion. This thing should be called the loot piñata.

      Remember:
      This was the SUCCESSFUL design from that era of Hell's Horses mech development.
      That's the scary part.

    Funny thing is that if we take official cost of ferro and endo into consideration(from mech building rulebooks) upgrading this one with both would make it about a mill more expensive when it already costs 18 but would make it drastically stronger. Clans just be like that tho.

    It may be flawed, but I still love the Hellbringer Prime. It’s like a pocket sized Warhammer.

    I've found the B config is pretty good if you swap the Gauss for an ERPPC. Opens up a lot of weight for more armor and ammo basically the same engagement profile.

    Tip for people stuck with under-armored OmniMechs with an abundance of pod space - last I checked, Modular Armor fits in omnipods.
    Also, I like the C configuration for being the rare Hellbringer that actually has enough ammunition.

    The Prime co fig is the equivalent of a survival knife from Temu. Does a bit of everything, sort of , and breaks if you look at it the wrong way.

    In Alpha Strike the H model voluntarily gives away one point of medium range damage because of those heavy small lasers. Another insane design.

    The Loki already has an upgraded version that keeps the movement profile and adds armor/endo/ferro. It's called the Cauldron-Born; a solid mech. I still love the Loki, though mostly on the video game side where adding armor is (usually) pretty simple.

    really great content as always sir. just wondering, do you have a list of song names you've used for your video intros? some of them are really nice (e.g. the clan wolf song or the specific version of british grenadiers used for SLDF videos) but I couldn't find them for the life of me

    While the design itself is mediocre when compared with other clan Omnis, the fact that it’s so easy to produce compared to modern clan Omnis and often “good enough” for prospective users shows that it is doing exactly what its original designers intended.
    An individual mechwarrior may balk at the idea of piloting such a glass cannon; but when your faction can make or buy 2-4 of these for every Blood Asp, Turkina, or Savage Wolf, then what the individual mechwarrior thinks may not be so important in the grand scheme of things. You might even be able to survive pretty well using the ECM and dense terrain or wooded areas.

    Is it the Hellbringer or the L-Bringer? Depends on whether or not you can keep it out of the brawl.

    If only they had gone Endo Steel and Ferro Fibrous... used that free tonnage to increase the armor to get it to about 96% max, and disttibuted those crits correctly. Every canon Hellbringer configuration (okay maybe not the iHGR ver) could now go into battle with the same speed but actual good armor for at range shot trading and brawling! Remarkable! Brain Blast!

    • @ProfessorHeyTeeEn
      @ProfessorHeyTeeEn  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The problem at that point might be that you don't have the internal room to stick all the equipment. I do agree that sticking Endo on and toughening up the hide with standard plates would be a good idea, however.

    Ah yes, a classic "oops, no armor" mech.
    It's why I strongly prefer calling it a Loki. Because you have to be tricksy and evasive to survive. Oh sure, you've got the means to do serious damage and be a general pain, but you can't take much damage.

  • @ambientlight3876
    @ambientlight3876 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I'm surprised that the design never got updated (No... not the Hel... That thing is a totally different beast..) Of course, it could get the Endo/FF treatment, but then you've got the Cauldron Born. I was thinking of a cheap upgrade that sacrifices pod space in exchange for better armor... I thought of sacrificing 4 tons of pod space for 4 additional tons of armor. That still gives the design 24.5 tons of Pod Space. A Theoretical Prime could Mount Twin ER PPCs, a Streak SRM 6 with one ton of ammo, 3 more double Heat sinks, an Active Probe, targeting computer, and 3 ER small Lasers.

    • @ProfessorHeyTeeEn
      @ProfessorHeyTeeEn  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Whatever you do "structurally" on an omnimech means that it is a new machine altogether. That's why you can't simply "update" a design like this, sadly enough.
      For a new chassis, I do agree that it needs a tougher hide, and you do have the internal room to either stick one or the other weight saving equipment.

    • @ambientlight3876
      @ambientlight3876 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ProfessorHeyTeeEn I suppose they could rebuild this machine into a new version, though it would take a significant amount of work.
