Mustaine is like 'fuck the tempo, keep up Lars'
All these people comparing Mustaine and Hammett, Metallica and Megadeth. Can't we just appreciate both of them and agree that both are legendary?
Lars is better
@@solounweonchileno9709 this guy gets it!^
dave grohl is better
The answer is no.
The answer is Lars
Rest In Peace Cliff, Ray, Lemmy and May Ozzy be in good health with his Parkinsons...
Always.
Maybe it's just me...But hands down the best part of this, is seeing Jason on stage and Dave shredding on the guitar.
I thought Jason sounded a whole lot better than James vocally
@@danthemancushecan since James does more singing in this show unlike Jason who goes full out with distortion in his voice
It was like the dream metallica if cliff was alive, current metallica with Dave and Jason with Robert, so pretty much everyone from metallica ever all together
Yea you forgot to say and singing cause he does a great job for a bassist
he sings too, not only a bassist
@@silontninja6947
Jason is still a monster when he plays, amazing!
Needless to say, Jason's vocals will always be missed.
32:20 I doubt I'll ever see something as beautiful as this
That actually was pretty impressive
there is a special feeling between this 2 , 35 years was passed but it was like they had practice every single day .
james/dave combo sound really thigh
Yeah its like rythm duel between 2 best rhytm guitarist in the world
@@dalax8949 Dave is lead guitar but I get what you mean
@@fedora997 He is like half lead and half rhytm but without doubt his rhytm is on Hetfields level

The Death Angel song is called Mistress of Pain!
James squeaking his way through Metal Militia... it's been a LOOOOONG time since he could hit those notes!
He can't lol ice try thou
He can do it pretty well nowadays, surprisingly. He's gotten better since 2011 at the higher range stuff, oddly enough.
And now he can do it again
I miss his voice in the late 80' early 90' :(
32:23 millions of metal fans agreeing this is how metal heaven will be : Hetfield and Mustaine playing riffs along with burton's leading on bass
Don't forget dimebag and vinnie!
And lemmy's vocals
Don't you mean squillions of metal fans?
Seeing Jason play Whiplash with his new band was fucking amazing
With pantera
29:17 Dave play's with original tempo\m/
Hell yeah he does 🤘
Yeah! He gave Lars a hard time hahaha
@@urielr6285 he sort of went like " i know u played pretty well in 80s time to prove you still got it u brat!
the look of dave saying lets play this song the way it should be
Lars: Ah hell nah
My god. I almost cried seeing Jason on stage with Metallica again. That’s how much I miss him.
Jason’s vocals are so fucking Brutal 🤟🏻. Obviously James is the bread and butter of Metallica and Metallica wouldn’t be without his vocals, but having Jason on Lead vocals every now and then definitely doesn’t hurt.
dude i miss so much jason newsted...
It's awesome that Ron still has his old bass from back in the day
JASON NEWSTED VOICE!!!!! like angry lemmy killmister sing metallica
in the court of the crimson kiiii iiing ah ah ah...!
Sorry man!
lol
amazing performer! underrated guy, fired of metallica cos he "stole" a part of celebrity of their "singer".
Jasons vocals are awesome
James: Searching!
Jason: Uughhhhaaa!!
Absolutely fuckin amazing
Just kidding he is Great at doing backing vocals. He Sounds awesome
Been listening to this while doing work, had to stop and watch when Dave got involved for Metal Militia. Though it would have been interesting if they played Mechanix. And then original members come out for Hit the Lights. Fuck yeah, this was awesome, needs to be fully released on DVD.
Dave was like: Damn, Did I wrote this riff? I don't remember it was this hard???? probably 35 years since Metallica w/ Mustaine.
write*
Thanks XD.
I like both bands but it's not hard to find any Megadeth songs that are faster than Metal Militia. For example: Rattlehead
DrumDudeGuy last rites loved to deth?
Dude, do you hear some Megadeth ?? I think you miss something cool....
I wish Metallica were a six piece band permanently; The four current members of Metallica, plus Jason Newstead and Dave Mustaine.
Hell yeah!
Replace Rob with Jason and you'd be onto something.
+Archibald Doogan hahah true. He should just play the guitar and keep his jaw shut.
Archibald Doogan lolwut
still better than the actual james
Shit for a minute i thought Bob Rock was an Old Woman
Mustaine is like Anakin Skywalker: turns to dark side but looks so better at the good side
you watched too much tv
kirks whiplash solo just melted my fucking face off
32:20 is fucking amazing !!!
What’s pretty upsetting is that it looks like absolutely no one is rocking out to Death Angel’s performance. They are such an awesome band and very underrated
My mother bought me $5 K-Tel heavy metal comp @Zayre 1988.
Trouble Death Angel Nuclear Assault Overkill Testament & few other bands. "MISTRESS OF PAIN" first song. For late 1988 that song was intense. Just turned 13,hadn't ever heard music that fast heavy etc mind blowing! Saw it on the clearance rack, looked interesting, and begging for this tape by saying I do yard work take out trash clean kitchen and never get allowance etc finally she was like "fine ok be quiet!" LOL
Well, they showed up for metallica. Not death angel.
@@ICECREAMan2991if this is your approach to the concept of opening bands then you will be unhappy for a good portion of every concert you ever go to. chin up.
@@dreamofyouandi honestly. I've never been to a single live concert. But I want to go one day. I really wanna see Metallica before one of them dies. I miss cliff. Is it possible to miss someone you've never met? I'm sad now. I hope you have a good day or something. Peace.
@@ICECREAMan2991 you picked the right person to emotionally appeal to because holy fuck i genuinely miss cliff every day
Well Metallica is now 40 years old! Cannot wait for this 40 show!
Jason Newsted is METALLICA!
Release the whole thing, quality is great, no matter its not super professionally filmed, who cares, its metal after all.
I do like Rob Trujillo, but Jason just exudes what is Metallica
So effortlessly innovative I mean even with the two bass players on whiplash newstead and new guy, oh my god that's in my soul forever now
Absolutely awesome been a fan since I was five 1991 2021 still love em they go hard heavy soft there the real deal not scared to experiment with music unlike most metal bands
The god that fails 13:00 - 15:00
Rebel of Babylon 17:00 - 19:40
Dirty Window 20:15 - 22:23
Paranoia 22:28 - 24:30
Whiplash 26:22 - 29:14
Metal Militia 29:18 - 32:26
Hit the lights 32:30 - 36:55
Seek and Destroy 38:49 - 41:44
paranoia
lol
I never realized how much I needed to hear Seek and Destroy played with soooo many guitars added to Metallica 🤩🤘🏼
I love how when they were playing seek and destroy, when it was time for the second verse, Jason walked up and was like “okay bitches, I’m singing now” 😂
Jason!!!
Awesome performance of Seek and Destroy at the end!
awesome that they had Jason sing on Whiplash!!!! So cool!!!!
Newstead singing Whiplash is so epic and trippy to see 😂\m/
they need to hire Dave to write some songs and him and Kirk could do dueling leads like Maiden
Punisher6710 like harmonize? Is that what you mean?
@@jahdielm3208 I think he said solos like hangar 18 like some kind of guitar battle!
김경민 ohhh thatd be awesome
Whatever they do they will never reach Maiden´s level.
Hire Jason for backing vocals and extra bass licks. that's it.
17:10 What a great song!
..Really enjoyed watching all these musicians, all on stage together playing the same tune. Wow! Just wow!
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🗣️🎤🥁🎶😍👍..
these concerts need to be release officially on CD/DVD
Wey son Oficiales están sacados en CD Y son La 4 Noches XD El Pedo Es Conseguirlos si sabes descargar en Taringa me pasas el link de descarga XD
That would be very expensive for something that would give them little return, the reality is that TH-cam is the easiest, best, and most accessible way to view stuff like this
VHS too
Damn, I would love to see Jason and Dave rejoin the band. Why not? 6 players on stage at once, pretty cool, right?
lmfao metal melitia is way faster cuz of dave wow its noticeable lol
I guess I’m gonna have to forgive Lars for the whole Napster debacle…..
As Ozzy & Geezer were walking off stage and he corrected the crowd into chanting for BOTH OF THEM….that was classy!
When they played the St. Anger album song I was amazed, that they played my favorite! :D
simsom4343 i was amazed to hear an actual drum tone and not trash cans haha
#Metallica
~30 years strong of collectively creating musical miracles.
Thank You All.
I love Jason's aggressiveness to his singing. I really believe that they should have let him sing lead on a few songs. James and Lars' egos definitely wouldn't have let that happen. Hell, they cut out his bass on Justice
he would have been perfect to bring back in a sort of duet, a song where james sings as a person in a battle with his demons and jasons singing beeing the demon (mabye its like "one"), as they sort of go back and fourth between sainity and insainity.
He sang lead on seek and destroy sometimes back in 80s and 90s
If you've ever watched the interview uploaded in 2006 between Lars and Mustaine, you'd learn that Mustaine loved the rest of the group. He saw them as an extended family, but without a second chance he was removed from the band. He only ever had his mom and them. They got rid of him because he was an aggressive raging drunk, but instead of helping him they just got rid of him like a pest instead of a friend/brother.
They had great chemistry, especially with the writing and shows during the early 80's. I don't like to compare the two because they're both equally as great.
Before anyone makes the argument: "Well Mustaine broke dreams and kicked band members out also"... Remember, he gave them not only second chances, but MULTIPLE chances. He didn't want them to experience what he had experienced, but it got to a point where no matter the amount of chances they wouldn't change.
To this day Mustaine has incredible skills while playing live. Not to discredit Lars' or Kirk's skills, over the years their skills have depreciated and created some infamous failures. Even as a band they experienced failures/quality drops later on due to this lack of practice and chemistry. (Good examples would be their albums St. Anger and Lulu).
In most recent live shows (like this) where Metallica had invited people from Kill Em All such as Dave Mustaine, they had clicked with increased speed and excitement. The chemistry hadn't been better in years. At most the reason why Mustaine looks bored or annoyed is because he's still hurt by James (and the music is easy to him).
So before anyone makes a "Metallica vs Megadeth" or "James vs Mustaine" or any comment that revolves around a half-assed opinion or comment around WHY things happened in the band and how people's personalities are, do your research you dumb fucks. Thank you.
Fuck Dave Mustaine, yup, i said it. Kirk is Metallica.
@@cool3929 You realize that both of them are great and you can enjoy both of them, right? There is no need to choose lol
I thought was the other way around. I heard Dave and james are on good terms, he was the 1st person to check on dave when the news that he had cancer was confermed. Dave said he didn't like lars. That's what i know/heard
Jason still a machine bruh wasnt expecting Whiplash to be my favorite part of this video, everyone was such a good sport, Ozzy and Geyser, Davie, all of them, Lars being supportive of all the special features.
For the love of god. Please bring back Jason
Move on. Jason left and is happy with his decision. Rob is in the band and has now become their longest serving bassist by many years. In fact, he's now been in the band for longer than Cliff and Jason were combined. The ship has well and truly sailed and at this point pining for Jason's return which will never happen is just being really disrespectful to Rob.
40 years next year, holy shit
Black album anniversary too
This shows that it really is all about the music...them getting together like this after all the drama...
I just love this mind blowing set on stage... Not sorry for what happened with Dave and James, so happy to have 2 Great bands instead of one and can now act on same stage.. That's what I call awesome >:)
suomi
Dirty Window, Paranoid, and Whiplash with two bass players sounds awsome.
Love how laid back this is :D
32:24 A picture worth a thousand feelings 😭😭😭😭
I love Roberts style and just how he plays
Jason is the man/ he made everyone work as hard as they could/ energy is my brother Jason 👊
This deserved a 1080p recording...
That was awesome! Especially seek and destroy!
bruh I’m looking back at this and wishing for Metallica to become a 6 man band when they’re near retirement age. Like just imagine Kirk, James, Dave, Jason, Robert, and Lars bro. I don’t want to hear anyone tryna say “Remove Kirk” or “Replace Robert” cause like they’re both really fucking good.
Damn I miss Jason in the band!
Kirk was impressed by Lloyd Grant, he was checking out his guitar work and smiling while he doing that first mini solo for Hit the Lights.
kirk was great awesome
Dave was awesome and still awesome
Beautiful
Metallica Rocks
Always
I love how Kirk uses the Randy Rhoads v with ozzy. Rip randy
"Whiplash" gave me chills, I forgot about this 30 year at the Fillmore
Dirty window is MASSIVELY underrated
It would be cool if they reunite with dave and Jason just for a record or a tour ....not as metallica of course, like heaven and hell with DIO ... you know....just for the metal cause....and of course Lars can make some big money too..
@@JPX64Channel lol that's why they were scared of 20yo IT students xD
26 minutes when they melted together off that jam was so good
Death Angel at the 30th awesome!
mdub2000 fuck yeah!!! That was Kirk made that happen
Jason amazing vocal and bassist
They still got it live
You already know they started sweating when dave started playing the old stuff in the original tempo lmaoo
32:24 The Thing That Should Be
The Two Giants of Metal in one band 🙌
BEST Metallica show. Ever.
I would buy DVDs of this entire show. Pretty awesome shit.
Tom Florczak Jr. no shit like a box set of full show
McGovney's vintage shirt is killer!
Seeing Mustaine on stage with Metallica again made my day.
Forgive my ignorance, but who is Mr. Grant?
I'm pretty sure that he played the guitar solos on their very first demo, or at least on the first version of hit the lights
That's what surprised me...he was shredding exactly what the demo sounded like. Thanx!
my dad knew Lloyd Grant back in college they were friends my dad said he went on to be a scientist or something like that.
Luke Hutchinson Not quite the demo, but hit the lights on the first pressing of metal massacre
Lloyd Grant is a Jamaican guitarist who played the second lead on the "Hit the Lights" demo, but technically, he was not an official member of Metallica. (Wikipedia)
and the legend continue
I`m watching this in 2021....here James looks like he is like 35....10 years later he looks like he is 60
Glad to see Dave back
so cool to see Lloyd and Ron here too
Ozzy is such a frontman still... amazing
there is just something else having jason and dave playing with metallica again
Damn, for seek and destroy we had the 6 former and current Metallica's members playing at the same time ❤
I cant help but notice how different James and Dave/Kirk play the main riff of Metal Mititia
James did a lot of preparation and really did a fucking awesome job on the Dehaan surprize Kill 'Em All anniversary show they did. You can hear how he worked on his voice to get as fucking close to his early 20's voice to squeal at his current age in that show when you hear him struggle here. Seriously, check out that show on TH-cam if you haven't seen it, because they fucking bring all the old power and rawness to that performance, ALL of them. And i don't care if Kirk is "not as good" as Mustaine etc. .... he's great in THE BAND .... that's all that matters. They are great together, and it's not a competition. You can love Mustaine and Metallica and all former members etc. They all bring us joy. Peace!
Death Angel was nice ... Always a 80's favorite . First two albums were massive to the thrash scene . Cannot go without acknowledgement .
What a reunion wow
I was really waiting for a 4 way ultimate solo between james, dave, kirk and lloyd
Yooo Death Angel opened? That’s sick, they always kill it live
Love the part where Dave just stops to look at Jason singing. The only part where he doesn't look miserable haha
He’s not
Miserable he’s finally playing with Metallica and he’s dead serious so he doesn’t mess up
Dude Ozzy's still got it kinda
I remember death angel in houston tx at # Numbers 1989..💪😎🤘
...Robert seems to be so HAPPY.......ofc who wouldn't be HAPPY if one's dream comes true.
🎼🎸😍🎶👍..
Grants solos Made my ears bleeding
Ya'll should release all 4 shows as a special deluxe box set ... all 4 nights on vinyl, cd and dvd/blu ray, that would be an amazing set that I would buy for sure
I worked backstage at this gig !
