You’re wrong about Interstellar. They couldn’t just use artificial crops on earth because the blight was also depleting their oxygen levels so if they stayed on earth they wouldn’t be able to breathe. It’s not a plot hole, you just weren’t paying attention even though you mentioned that the oxygen was depleting anyway.

The biggest plot hole in Interstellar was the decision to travel to Miller's planet before going to Dr. Man or Edmunds planets. The main reason outlined by the crew to go to Millers planet first was because it was the closest to their current location after traveling through the worm hole, and that it would take months to travel to the other two planets. During this scene they do a fair job of explaining relativity and the time dilation the crew would experience on Millers planet due to its proximity to the black hole Gargantua. Specifically, one hour on Millers planet would be the equivalent of 7 years on Earth. But knowing this it seems obvious that traveling to Miller's planet first is a bad decision. Doyle said it would take months to reach Dr. Mans planet and even longer to reach Edmunds, and if neither of those two planets are viable they would have to spend even more time to travel back to Millers planet. These planets are outside the huge gravitational pull of Gargantua so they wouldn't experience the same time dilation as on Millers planet. Although they don't specifically say in the movie, lets estimate it would take the crew 4 months to reach Dr. Mans planet and another 2 months to reach Edmunds planet, so in total it would take the crew 1 year round trip to travel to Edmunds planet and back to Millers. Assuming the crew experiences no time dilation during this journey, exactly 1/7th of an hour (around 8 and a half minutes) would have passed on Miller planet. Knowing this it seems completely logical to travel to the other two planets first because it would be the equivalent of spending about 10 minutes on Millers planet. If they truly treated time as a resource they would have chosen to travel to the other two planets first. Another point to this plot hole is when on Millers planet after the tidal wave leaves them stranded, Brand explains that because of the time dilation, Miller would have landed only a couple of hours before they arrived and likely died minutes before they got there. But they should have realized this before they decided to go to Millers planet. I mean they explained relativity and time dilation right before deciding on going to Millers planet, don't you think they would have realized that relative to their time of over a decade since Miller left Earth, she would have only spent a few hours on the planet before they got there? I appreciate how Interstellar addresses concepts like relativity, time dilation, and quantum mechanics but it seems unrealistic that the scientists and engineers wouldn't be able to rationalize that going to Millers planet first is a waste of all their resources including fuel, oxygen, and time; especially given the fact that they addressed the time dilation effect on Millers planet. I love Interstellar and its one of my favorite movies, but this apparent plot hole and logical flaw leaves me scratching my head every time I watch the film.

Yes yes yes! Exactly my train of thought.. It was a really dumb decision to go there first since they already knew even a quick trip wouldve cost the people on earth YEARS...the visit to water planet was for the whole visual of the tidal waves hitting them and to actually showcase the effects of relativity with the doctor that stayed behind but in reality its a huge plot hole. Even if they could settle there, that planet was gravitating a black hole so its not somewhere you wanna be for a long time either.

I think they messed up the plot hole: It isn't the bags in the vault at the end, it's the bags in the van. These bags are taken by casino personnel from the vault elevator to the waiting van before the SWAT Team arrives. The bags had to feel like real cash to the casino personnel taking them off the elevator so they're definitely full of fliers. Moreover, the back of the van is shown to be empty when casino personnel put the bags back there, again, before the SWAT team arrives. When the bags in the van explode, they're full of flyers. So how did those bags full of fliers get into the vault?

RadioFreeUtah Maybe the casino owner was just chasing the van to capture the ones who threatened him and planted the fake money or “flyers” himself, so as to not lose his money worse case scenario. Although I’m speaking from an outside perspective with absolutely no knowledge of the dialog or let’s say if the guy freaked out when the van blew up or not, seeing as I haven’t seen the movie. lol It would make sense if the heist team predicted it wouldn’t be real money and decided to blow it up to mess with him though, that way he would know they had already jacked his ass back at the casino. What did the flyers say exactly? That’s prob where they messed up, I bet it was prob something comical to mock him.. Which would be the one unnecessary detail to create a stupid plot hole for absolutely no reason other than to make it more of a “cool” ending.

The Karate Kid one is not a plot hole. In the first movie they NEVER say that strikes to the head are illegal. In fact when explaining the rules, Elizabeth Shue's character Ali says that points are scored by hitting anything above the waist including the head. In the 3rd movie they changed the rules and made head contact illegal, but not in the first movie.

    • @wandabailey5320
      @wandabailey5320 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You are absolutely correct. The makers of this video just have their facts wrong on that one. The makers of this video claim that the ref "repeatedly" says that blows to the head are illegal. That is did wrong. The ref never says that once, and in fact awards several points for several other blows to the head in the tournament (including one by Johnny), and not just the one for Daniel. Even if it could be argued that Ali might not be 100% reliable in her knowledge of the rules, nothing in the film contradicts her - and the way the ref awards points throughout the tournament is consistent with what Ali says.

    1. The fact that Coop drove through the crops isn't a plot hole, it actually reveals the ambition of his character as the drone still interests him a LOT more than the flat tire or the crops. A more likely plot hole could have been the question of how he drove through the crops with a flat tire, but that was answered when they mentioned that cars were stronger as they were built to survive dust storms and the crops were getting weaker in the future.
    2. They even showed that scene in the movie where Brand mentioned they have tried as much as they can, but Earth is beyond repair. That and the anomalies in gravity led them to believe astronomy might be the only solution. The said technology was actually first created for Earth, but then modified to populate a foreign planet.

In Interstellar I’m most interested in how the water planet works. The water is obviously shallow enough for them to both land on, and walk in, but vast enough to create the huge wave?
    A. How did they know everywhere they stepped was safe to walk, and not a drop off?
    B. When the wave is rushing towards them, does that then mean the opposite half of the planet is exposed land now? Because if it’s only a few feet deep, and that wave is huge.

The flyers in the vault in Ocean's 11 is a movie trope and, anyone who has seen enough movies, should be familiar with this.
Another example of this is The Thomas Crowne Affair (the remake with Pierce Brosnan). At the end, when he 'returns' the painting, he steals another painting, but it should be near to impossible to pull off. It is never explained how he does it which is as much because it isn't relevant to the movie's plot as it is just a fun little twist at the end of the film.

He was going off of the promise that the professor made that he would have solved the equation by the time he got back.
But the professor knew that it couldn't be solved because it was pretty much agreed that it was impossible for any information to be retrieved from a black hole.
Coop and SARS were able to make it happen which led to his daughter solving the equation which in turn helped plan A become viable.

My conclusion was that the whole story about human batteries, Zion, war with machines was all a lie, just another layer of the onion. What was the "true" story? My theory was that the earth was just wildly overpopulated and "the Matrix" was just how most humans live in the 24th century. Zion and the "real world" are there to entertain those who can't accept the Matrix, and somewhere a small population (a few million) live an idyllic life in the real-real world. There is a small plot hole, or more like, it was not explained. the entities in the future, are actually the future humans that have evolved into 5th dimensional beings, they use time and magnetism to leave clues to humans during these troubling times, so that the can escape the planet.
the question is, who saved the humans the first time? I know there are theories that the future is already set, and exist, the moment the universe was created etc. but there is no mention of this in the movie.
also, the whole premise of the movie was to lift the station off the ground using anti-gravity. this whole station was self contained, why not just make underground sealed cities? no different than being in space. at least on Earth you do not need to create artificial gravity by spinning the station. and no need to have anti-gravity technology.
but I loved the movie anyway.

It was recently pointed out to me. Why Han Solo did not pay back Jabba between Episodes 4 and 5 can only be explained by Han being increadibly stupid to put it off when he had the money. This is inconsistent with his character in Episode 4 when he completed his character arch by becoming less selfish and also his previous goal of prioritising paying Jabba back. Its not in the rebels interest to have Han not pay Jabba back as he hangs around key Rebel leaders. Therefor a bounty is the last thing they want as that is another faction to guard against. If Han pays back Jabba it is both good for Han and the rebels as they have a go between and a good relationship with a crime boss who can help them remain supplied. It could also be done in a comparively short time as he already has the money.
