I admire your families willingness to help each other out. We live in such a individualistic world but to have a communal goal and to drop your plans to help out is soooooo rare and soooo beautiful. As always, thank you for sharing

A lot of people who were abroad in Europe or heading that way have ended or changed plans because of the war... can't blame anyone that doesn't want to be near it right now.
As someone that’s watched and loved your videos (and Logan’s music!) for years and someone who is from Scotland I’m really disappointed that you didn’t get to experience the full beauty of Scotland. I think travelling there in February during the depths of winter and arguably the most bleak month of the year it was always not going to be the best. We are a very proud nation and have some of the most stunning landscapes and some of the friendliest people. I hope that one day you do decide to visit again, perhaps in Spring or Summer so you can experience it to its fullest.

@@basskitten7325 Fun fact, many cookbooks have the same recipes. Bisquits have simple ingredients yet are in thousands of cookbooks, for example. I remember so many people for so many months begging her to put the recipes she uses together in a book for them... one day she finally did and all of a sudden she's a 'thief'.

I live in the UK and remember thinking that it was a very brave idea to try van life in Scotland during winter. (The weather can be brutal there in summer time and the winter weather in England/Wales isn't much better.) It's a shame you didn't drive down to southern Spain or Italy where it would have been much much warmer and made van life a lot more pleasurable. Saying that, I can understand why you are pleased to be home as it always looks to be such a peaceful environment and is a beautiful part of the world. :-)
I agree about them being brave! You can read about lots of different places but until you go there for yourself, you can’t really understand what it’s like. We moved from the UK to the US and as I grew up watching American TV I thought I knew what it’d be like. But the reality is so different in all kinds of ways. I’m glad Isabel and Logan are so flexible and open to anything at this stage of their lives. Perhaps this trip was shorter than we, as the audience, expected but that’s okay. I expect they’ll take another trip in the future, no harm done 🙂
I believe they choose UK because of the language and the possibility of wild camping there, what is more or less forbidden everywhere in western Europe south of England. Also, it looks like they did not account for the fact, that southern England is on the same latitude like Vancouver, Canada, and Scotland a thousand Kilometers north of that, even. They surely wouldn't think they could swim in the Ocean in March in Vancouver area ... I hope they prepare a bit better when the continue their trip later this year.
@@Dahrenhorst I think they like to go on these trips somewhat unprepared though, and just see what happens. I want them to be safe and stay healthy but as an older viewer I also very much admire them for their adventurous, curious spirit. They do things I thought about but didn’t have the courage to do (and now don’t desire to do either!) Plenty of time to plan everything when they are older and have more responsibility and restrictions or limitations on them.
@@Dahrenhorst Parking a van at the side of the road in the Scottish highlands is not wild camping and is not permitted under the SOAC. I was so disappointed to see them doing that and advertising it online, as we have a real issue with dirty campers here at the moment. So it seems their research was not conducted well. It was lovely to see them using local campsites, though.

You have been getting what my Dad has been getting in Minnesota. He's almost 92 and calls every day to tell me the weather and what he's been up to. He gets so excited on the warm ,sunny day. Then he'll have snow day's. Yesterday he said "Old man Winter needs to go to sleep ! He's not welcome anymore!" He's ready for his "short pants" ! Lol ! Oh how I love him ! I love how cozy your home looks at night with the lights. I am not even a little surprised that you are back home. You are so connected to that land and the people you love.
Next year, try using the broken woods to set up a hugelkulture mound for your garden. It does make for a more fungi than bacteria based soil, but it does help with watering. Also, wood chipper for your mulching. If your soil is loose, meaning not all rock, than try wood chips as walkways that are also filled trenches between your garden beds. That would definitely help with water retention. It doesn’t have to be chipped either, think of it as an inverted hugelkulture bed. Hope this helps / gives ideas ! :) Also, btw… I love your laugh, and your outlook at life in general. Not traveling to start a garden is awesome ! Happy farming !

Hey Isabel, I've been a fan every since your first video and it's been such a journey. You travelled within about 10 miles of my house in the uk when you did the long drive including the M6. When you went past Lymm services you were so close to Stretford where I currently live with my lovely wife, Carla and son, Odin. We will soon move to the countryside to a house on a farm and our plans are to grow veg and become more sustainable. We've just bought your cookbook, Tiny Pantry, (what a great name!) and we can't wait to try out the perfected recipes. I always feel hungry (and adventurous! - you are so inspiring) when watching your show and we will make the recipes with veg we have grown ourselves so can't wait. It has honestly been such a beautiful day and although it has been warm here I wish I was up on your mountain in the Blizzard! and we could all go back and sing and play guitar and enjoy roasting marshmallows on the fire (our new place has an open fire so also can't wait to toast some marshmallows, make your candy bars and bread and enjoy all the other recipes on time too.) Thank you for being so honest and true and inspiring and for your joie de vivre. You help me understand life and I hope you find every happiness and joy in your life. Nice to see you back! What I find fascinating in each of your videos you are creating a genealogy legacy of your life, thoughts, work ethics, cooking and so much more for your family. Imagine a 100 years from now one of your descents does a genealogical history and they will have all this footage to know who you were, what you were feeling, etc. As a 62yo who loves your zest for life and how you live always make me wonder what my ancestors may have done and thought. We have had similar weather experiences. I live in a rainy part of Oregon, and with early spring we have been teased with warmer, sunny, dry days and I got my hopes up that the trend would continue. Nope, rain is back and I am so over it. Then I remember how our Oregon summers have been so dry the last few years, and all the plants dry up and are basically kindling for a fire. And by end of August, I pray to any deity for the rain to come. Every season is magical at first, but then we long for another season because of the balance to nature that it offers. Over and over this cycle continues. The variety also helps us love deeper the things we appreciate, like sunshine for me. I guess a goal for myself is to stretch my love out during each season, but it is so hard.
I can't say this enough, you have the most beautifully filmed cooking segments on TH-cam. I am not vegan but your food is so visually appealing. Glad to have you back home for awhile. I appreciate your truthfulness and authenticity.

So happy you’re back home! Kitty’s are so cute! That’s so exciting creating a space for a wedding and a garden with a big wonderful family. Truly blessed! I hope you plant some beautiful flowers with your vegetables because I think waking up in the morning walking out to see beautiful flowers would really make you happy. I started a flower garden last year, it is so amazing to walk around looking at all the beauty. This year we’re planting a full vegetable garden also. Hoping to learn how to preserve and save for the winter. Maybe make some essential oils and calendula salves. It really is so beautiful where you live. My goodness the videos you put forward are something magical. We live in the middle of America where it looks very different, a different kind of beautiful though. My aunt lived in Washington and she said would never leave. I can see why. We just have a couple more weeks to warmer weather. 😊Can’t wait to see what all you guys do with the garden. ❤

Isabel, have you ever considered trying the no dig method for your garden? It’s much less work and might help speed your process, also you could use some of that fire hazard dead wood by turning it into wood chips for composting or pathways in the garden. (:

I remember so many people for so many months begging her to put the recipes she uses together in a book for them... one day she finally did and all of a sudden she's a 'thief'.

I live in the UK and remember thinking that it was a very brave idea to try van life in Scotland during winter. (The weather can be brutal there in summer time and the winter weather in England/Wales isn't much better.) It's a shame you didn't drive down to southern Spain or Italy where it would have been much much warmer and made van life a lot more pleasurable. Saying that, I can understand why you are pleased to be home as it always looks to be such a peaceful environment and is a beautiful part of the world. :-)
I agree about them being brave! You can read about lots of different places but until you go there for yourself, you can’t really understand what it’s like. We moved from the UK to the US and as I grew up watching American TV I thought I knew what it’d be like. But the reality is so different in all kinds of ways. I’m glad Isabel and Logan are so flexible and open to anything at this stage of their lives. Perhaps this trip was shorter than we, as the audience, expected but that’s okay. I expect they’ll take another trip in the future, no harm done 🙂
I believe they choose UK because of the language and the possibility of wild camping there, what is more or less forbidden everywhere in western Europe south of England. Also, it looks like they did not account for the fact, that southern England is on the same latitude like Vancouver, Canada, and Scotland a thousand Kilometers north of that, even. They surely wouldn't think they could swim in the Ocean in March in Vancouver area ...
I hope they prepare a bit better when the continue their trip later this year.
@@Dahrenhorst I think they like to go on these trips somewhat unprepared though, and just see what happens. I want them to be safe and stay healthy but as an older viewer I also very much admire them for their adventurous, curious spirit. They do things I thought about but didn’t have the courage to do (and now don’t desire to do either!) Plenty of time to plan everything when they are older and have more responsibility and restrictions or limitations on them.
@@Dahrenhorst Parking a van at the side of the road in the Scottish highlands is not wild camping and is not permitted under the SOAC. I was so disappointed to see them doing that and advertising it online, as we have a real issue with dirty campers here at the moment. So it seems their research was not conducted well. It was lovely to see them using local campsites, though.

I love how cozy your home looks at night with the lights. I am not even a little surprised that you are back home. You are so connected to that land and the people you love.
Next year, try using the broken woods to set up a hugelkulture mound for your garden.
It does make for a more fungi than bacteria based soil, but it does help with watering.
Also, wood chipper for your mulching.
If your soil is loose, meaning not all rock, than try wood chips as walkways that are also filled trenches between your garden beds. That would definitely help with water retention. It doesn’t have to be chipped either, think of it as an inverted hugelkulture bed.

I've been a fan every since your first video and it's been such a journey. You travelled within about 10 miles of my house in the uk when you did the long drive including the M6. When you went past Lymm services you were so close to Stretford where I currently live with my lovely wife, Carla and son, Odin.
We will soon move to the countryside to a house on a farm and our plans are to grow veg and become more sustainable. We've just bought your cookbook, Tiny Pantry, (what a great name!) and we can't wait to try out the perfected recipes. I always feel hungry (and adventurous! - you are so inspiring) when watching your show and we will make the recipes with veg we have grown ourselves so can't wait.
It has honestly been such a beautiful day and although it has been warm here I wish I was up on your mountain in the Blizzard! and we could all go back and sing and play guitar and enjoy roasting marshmallows on the fire (our new place has an open fire so also can't wait to toast some marshmallows, make your candy bars and bread and enjoy all the other recipes on time too.)

Nice to see you back! What I find fascinating in each of your videos you are creating a genealogy legacy of your life, thoughts, work ethics, cooking and so much more for your family. Imagine a 100 years from now one of your descents does a genealogical history and they will have all this footage to know who you were, what you were feeling, etc. As a 62yo who loves your zest for life and how you live always make me wonder what my ancestors may have done and thought. I’m so happy to see you back home with your usual content. I’ve always loved the moments when you’re in the kitchen, totally in your element 💕
We have had similar weather experiences. I live in a rainy part of Oregon, and with early spring we have been teased with warmer, sunny, dry days and I got my hopes up that the trend would continue. Nope, rain is back and I am so over it. Then I remember how our Oregon summers have been so dry the last few years, and all the plants dry up and are basically kindling for a fire. And by end of August, I pray to any deity for the rain to come. Every season is magical at first, but then we long for another season because of the balance to nature that it offers. Over and over this cycle continues. The variety also helps us love deeper the things we appreciate, like sunshine for me. I guess a goal for myself is to stretch my love out during each season, but it is so hard.

I hope you plant some beautiful flowers with your vegetables because I think waking up in the morning walking out to see beautiful flowers would really make you happy. I started a flower garden last year, it is so amazing to walk around looking at all the beauty. This year we’re planting a full vegetable garden also. Hoping to learn how to preserve and save for the winter. Maybe make some essential oils and calendula salves. It really is so beautiful where you live. My goodness the videos you put forward are something magical. We live in the middle of America where it looks very different, a different kind of beautiful though. My aunt lived in Washington and she said would never leave. I can see why. We just have a couple more weeks to warmer weather. 😊Can’t wait to see what all you guys do with the garden. ❤

Isabel, have you ever considered trying the no dig method for your garden? It’s much less work and might help speed your process, also you could use some of that fire hazard dead wood by turning it into wood chips for composting or pathways in the garden. (:
