I became a Bon Jovi fan in 1984. 40 yrs later I still love them. My playlist is mostly them. I still get butterflies when certain songs come on. The doc is sad at times but it's really interesting. I highly recommend it
My girlfriend (at the time) and I saw Bon Jovi at The Country Club. It was their last bar gig after they got their deal. I remember remarking to my GF how good they were and that they were going to be huge.
I am a huge Bon Jovi fan, but I think that “Thank You, Goodnight” was basically Jon’s “Michael Jordan’s The Last Dance” story. As much as the word “family’ is thrown around in Bon Jovi, the rest of the bank came across as sidekicks. Richie had a point, saying that he would of made it more about the music and songs and how they resonated with the fans globally; whereas, Jon made it about his vocal issues and everything hanging in the balance on that issue. Granted, they did go back in the past and relived selective history. It was still a compelling documentary. Thanks for the great reaction and oh yea, it is Iron Maiden’s Fear of the Dark is 32 years old today!! \m/
Yeah definitely, makes me curious what footage was left on the cutting room floor and if there’s still enough material for a Part 2… or if the direction was always about Jon’s recovery. ✌️✌️✌️
I think everyone was allowed to say what the pretty much wanted. If Ritchie wanted it to be about the impact of their music, why didn't he make his sessions about that?
Amen guys! Richie is the real Rock Star of the band! And I'd even go a step further and say, the only real poet. Just like Nikki in Motley, the others are great performers and fun-lovin goofballs, Nikki was/ is the poet with the vision. And I think the same can be said about Bon Jovi and Richie. Jon nowadays says that it was and is a job, he is a singer, professional performer and business man, not more, not less, Richie however lived and bled Rock n Roll with his soul.
I have a couple of problems, with John throwing Ritchie under the bus. He quit for a lot of reasons, one, listen carefully on when they were doing a studio album, Ritchie coming in to do his part on the album, come back, they removed his part, had the other guy do it, Ritchie comes in to play his part, WAIT, CANT, THE OTHER GUY DID RITCHIE PART, AGAIN. ALSO RITCHIE, had problems with marriage, drugs on Heather and her mental Health, Ritchie step in to take care of his daughter. He raised a Beautiful young lady. NOW JOHN CHEATED ON HIS WIFE AND STATES, THATS PART OF THE JOB OF ROCKSTAR, NO JOHN, ITS NOT. YOU WANTED TO PLAY, YOU SHOULD OF NOT GOT MARRIED DOT PERIOD. THEN LAST THING, YOU WENT ON AIR AND BASHED ELVIS PRESLEY, CALLED HIM FAT, SOMEHING AND LOW LIFE FOR USING DRUGS. This is for John's daughter, you are a beautiful young lady, that got caught up in herion, I am sorry for that, but you came out of that. You only get into drugs for mental and wellbeing, meaning you were hurting. Just like Elvis started on drugs to stay awake, when you were in Germany, freezing cold and YOU HAD TO STAY AWAKE, Elvis career started, had a hard time falling asleep, no energy, trying to keep awake, so Doctors prescribe medications for you, you actually belive it was OK, because Doctors gave it to you, finally Joe and the guys stepped in to help him, but again different Doctors giving to you, along with manager, asshole Colonel. The point here John, you were drinking and most likely do minume pot, but drinking, you had mental issues, your wife was there for you, PERIOD. Then your daughter was born, you on video, about your daughter being born, everyone in that room was HAPPY, BUT YOU. Watch the video. Look at Ritchie video of his daughter being born and multiple videos and pictures of Ritchie and daughter Eva, he was always smiling always happy. John, you had no business trashing Ritchie, on what you did to him, when he did not show up, you had the same guy on tour with you, that took Ritchie place on the album. John then trashing Alex , he has passed, no way to speak up about himself. John you made this so called documentary about you, NOT THE WHOLE BAND OR TRUTH, SHAME ON YOU, PLAN AND SIMPLE YOU WANTED TO GET MARRIED, IN VEGAS, DOROTHY GAVE UP HAVING A GIRLS WEHAVING HER PARNETS THEIR. YOU LIED AND CHEATED
first time seeing you guys. I'm 51 and love the F'ing 80's rock. I'll listen to you guys talk this topic all day. One band that still does well live and has been putting music out over the years is Maiden. I'd like to hear a discussion about them for sure. Saw them about 6 years ago and they still sounded great. keep up these conversations fellas, you'll slowly pick up a good following
@philly4444 thanks for the kind words! Yeah, we are all of the age of living in the golden rock era. We are a pretty new “show” we do lots of random conversations but music, movies and rants are the wheel house. Thanks again!
I Agree That Was 99% All About Jon & There Was Film From Richie's Interviews That Were Not Even Shown. RICHIE Was A Key Part Of How & Who Kept Jon Together For Those 30+ Yrs(Their Sexless Marriage & Richie Also Hit It When He Said "Are They Gonna Tell The Truth Or Lie"...There Is One Part Where All Of Them Are In The Studio & Richie & John Shanks Are Going Over Material & Richie Is Said Something &Shanks & Jon Totally Ignored What Richie Was Saying & The Hurt & Sound In Richie's Voice & The Way They Talked To Him Was As If What He Said Wasn't Important & You Can See It In His Eyes & You Say You Don't Know Why He Left--Why Would He Stay...You Said He Was Your Rt Hand Man & You All Loved Him - If I Loved Someone I Would Not Have Treated Him Like That...The Hurt In Hie Eyes Said So Much..& You Knew What Was Going On In His Life. The Pills He Used Were To Help Him Play All Those Shows When He Had The Busted Shoulder So You Didn't Have To Cancel Shows & That Is The Thanks He Gets-- & Just Losing His Dad & Then The Whole Mess With Heather Hitting Him & Having To Be A Dad( As He Did The Rt Thing- Ava Should Have Come 1st ) But Don't Sit There & Play Like You All Didn't KNOW WHY HE LEFT -- BULL. YOU ALL KNEW & TICO SAID IT- BON JOVI WAS THE SINGING OF RICHIE & Jon. 80% Was About Jon & His Voice Issues & Not The Key Story..Richie Said That Being In Bon Jovi Was Like Being In The Mafia & He Had To Get Out Or Richie Couldn't Take Care Of Richie..Richie Did What He Was Suppose To Do & If Jon Was As He Said "Waiting For The Knock On The Door For 10 Yrs - Why Didn't He Knock 1st. Richie Didn't Hurt Yo U Hurt & Chased Him Away..You Know Exactly What You Did..You Thought You Could Have BonJovi Without Richie. Neither Of Them Have Been The Same Since & I Pray If Richie Comes Back, He Is Treated With The Respect That He Should Be Shown Or You Will Have The Bad History Repeating Again & This Time I Think Will Distory What Is Good & Left About The Band.
Jon Bon Jovi might not have partied as hard, but he doesn't fall, lol. I don't get it other than the rock life style must catch up with you later in life. I'm only a few years younger than all these guys. I go jogging and work out at the gym and I never fall. I'm retired, but I door dash for extra money and often times have to climb steep stairs and never fall. My grandmother didn't fall in her late fifties and sixties, either. These rocks stars are like 10 to 20 years older than they really are.
my brother said something never realized about bon jovi he said jon took billy squiers formula from way he structured his band to writing rock songs with pop hooks and took it into the stratosphere
come on guys; the only person who would get a record deal with one song and no band would have to have one thing and that is be super sexy which JBJ was. that's all there is to it. 2nd album flopped; DC came to rescue the investment of the record label. boom, end of story. ;-) btw, I love BJ, I'm just being brutally honest. cheers.
You do make a good point, and we talked some about their looks and stage presence in the longer chat. Both Jon and Richie were poster quality front men. ✌️✌️✌️
I don’t think Jon ever denied doing it all but he grew up and doesn’t want his family knowing all his dirty laundry.. just like we all did when we were youthful! Is “character” and rockstar mean being off your face and at the same time then deride people being out of shape and not knowing what they are doing ie Vince Neil. You can not cheat life.. boring pays off in life.
Yeah , we were up there for 7 hours. So we are pulling the topics out as segments. Being a new channel, we didn’t think anyone would sit for an hour watching us. Honestly. Once we get the subs up and looks like you guys are enjoying it, I’ll be uploading as hour long pieces. The Bon Jovi discussion is almost 1 1/2 hours.
While Jon was a good singer, front man and obviously worked his ass off, there's something about him that doesn't come across as sincere. Sambora on the other hand is as real as it gets. A talented guitar player that oozes "Rock Star" because he is. Jon and Ritchie singing together was a great blend. But completely understand why he left the group.
I think its about who he is..I do think Jon is a nice guy, but he always has worries and thinking the big picture..look at the last shows at the New Jersey tour, he is on the phone like a got damned manager trying to get to play, while the other guys are all over the place drunk and getting high. When a guy never can just sit back and enjoy his sucsess, I think he just are more stressed and comes across a less sincere guy....By the way, kids gets old and I really like that Jon acts like a normal man, not with all these "rock star" vibes shit, like Nikki Sixx, VInce Neil types...and a little SAmbora..
Jon had massive responsibilities from the start, he definitely could not kick back like the rest of the band getting drunk etc he thought of recording deals, outlook of the band and day to day management of the band, writing or co writing, producing, singing... That is alot
I agree with this!... RS back story sounded epic and was just mentioned... I wanna here more about this 'Club' that he part owned when he was 19 1/2.... And the multiple record deals including with Zeps Swan Song Label!!!!!.... Ritchie Samabora & Friends Band. and auditioning for KISS!!!!. I mean I think he actually says that he and Jon were doing the 'same thing'.... 'Just hustling and trying to get in the door'. They could have made more of the Blaze of Glory and Stranger in this Town era as well... As soon as Jon felt he could 'Be in charge'.... He put everyone on salary. That was the day Ritchie became a sideman... Its a shame, HE WAS Bon Jovi... and thats why everything after New Jersey sucks!... ;) (appart from the solo records). I mean listen to The Answer on Stranger In This Town.... and then try telling me he wasnt all that and a bag of chips!...
My view is the band was formed around Jon's single that was getting massive air play and attention of record labels. From the start Jon was clear about what he wanted, Ritchie wanted to talk him out of it and make it a proper band situation. I guess it didn't work. Ritchie could have chosen not to join but he knew his best bet was to join and follow Jon's vision. It made them all millionaires didn't it? Ritchie has left the band and is now a solo artist, but it's clear he is not being successful at it, so he is recently talking about a reunion with the band if Jon's voice gets better Jon's voice is better now, they have recorded a new album without him, they will probably tour next year without him
Richie n Mick Mars kinda almost getting the same treatment, only difference is jon bon Jovi a mafia cashcow so Richie gotta play the hush hush jersey brother hood crap
Shanks is still there but Richie wants a reunion so where does it leave everything? In an earlier interview he said he left because he wanted to be a lead singer again.
Sambora siempre fue la estrella de bon jovi siembre lo dije jon solo fue marketing nada mas jon siempre quizo opacar a richie por el sabia el talento de richie y esta mas que claro en el documental que egoista es jon

Hey guys! Awesome channel! Out of curiosity what do you guys think of the newer 80's style bands like Crashdiet or Reckless Love?
Guys make more videos talk about bands from 80s & 90@

Jon was everything, from negotiating record deals to managing the band plus writing or co writing producing and singing, that was a lot.
🔥🔥🔥
