I worked for a Bon Jovi concert in the mid-90s and briefly met the band. They were a decent bunch of guys and put on a terrific show. I've said many times since that I was impressed at how much Jon's voice and the songs sounded as good live as they did on the albums. It's a damn shame if his voice is starting to fail him now. He's still a legend no matter what.
@@Bablu69_420- it was 1995, so it was in support of their These Days album, although they did play all the hits. Great outdoor show, and Jon's voice was amazing live.
That's life, he basically ruptured his vocal cords. 35 years of stress singing 4 times a week did that to him. It just shows how strong and amazing his voice was for so long but nothing lasts forever.....
He got vaccinated! And still got COVID, lost his voice for two weeks, cancelled some of his tour dates, his voice hasn't been right since! Remember the powers that be made musicians get the jab in order to perform!
yep its gone & he needs time off to reboot, but a good coach like ken tamplin can get his 80's voice back.. anything of real value takes patience/persistence & discipline . could we read a newspaper at after 3 full time years of schooling at 7 years of age?
@@forestfaulkingham5832 that explains it .. Ive known people to get 3 covid jabs & 1 or 2 flu jabs over the last couple years, & its destroyed their health.. thanks
I love Jon Bon Jovi, and to see him lose his voice like this really breaks my heart. I wish he would just retire, there really is no shame in it. It's ok Jon, everything will be ok, We his fans will always remember the days you gave us music and all your best, and we will always love you. Thank you for all the memories. Jon Bon Jovi, we will always love you.
He should've retired after Sambora left the band. His voice has been crap since around that time and the last couple of years it's been absolutely woeful. It's not like he needs the money either at a net worth of over 400 million...
Probably the best breakdown and detailed analysis I’ve seen on this topic. Like yourself I take absolutely no pleasure in seeing this. Jon has been one of my favourite singers for years and Bon Jovi are one of my favourite bands of all time.
Thank you for this video about aging. Jon Bon Jovi is a legend, and although this is sad (and two years later, after his surgery, things are not a lot better), it's great to be in the room with him while he does his thing.
With all due respect to the classic bands we love and grew up with, (we could name a few), there comes a time to wrap it up. As we get older, things change, it's the way it is, there is no shame.
Exactly. We aren’t wanting to be cruel or humiliate him. I saw him several years ago in Atlanta and we were kinda shocked because his voice had even changed then. There r only a very few singers who can hit the same notes they hit in their younger years. Every band I loved in my teens and 20’s, if they r still out performing, have had to adjust the high notes in their songs. I’m a Steve Perry fanatic and he def had one of the best ranges out there, but I’m sure he can’t even hit the notes he used to. Sammy Hagar did great with Van Halen and had a fantastic voice but he’s had to change up all his high notes too. Same goes for Def Leppard, Foreigner, Motley Crue etc. I just feel bad for Jon and all the bad publicity he’s been getting. I don’t understand why he’s wanting to keep going out there right now. Some of his latest concerts had me just cringing for him. I think it’s time to bow out while he can still do it somewhat gracefully 🥴
@@staceyroberts3468 He could give up touring for sure but I’d be open to him recording more Bon Jovi studio albums. It would be easier on him to record those since he would be able to take his time without the stress of being on the road all the time.
He's almost 60 and just 2-4 years has actually physically showing us age. All through the 90's, 00's & 2010's he still looked in his 40's. Jon's a music ICON AND A LEGEND!!!
I’m still a big fan of him even if he losses his voice. That’s fine. Nobody’s perfect everything will change as we get older. But he gave us good memories. I love Bonjovi forever ♥️
@cinnamontwirl992 Nice to see someone act like a decent human. He def has some issues, some suspect his hearing so he can't hear the notes to hit. People know, but they still want to see him. Nobody should be shooting down the choices that bring them joy.
This is heartbreaking. Thankyou for not bashing him because he is clearly struggling with something. Jon has put his whole heart and soul into his career and fans and we need to be kind and supportive as he goes through whatever it is he is going through. Covid could have impacted him badly. Who know what it is until it comes from Jon himself. I have been a fan since the beginning and it breaks my heart to see him struggling and seeing so many other sites criticizing him. This is the best conversation I have seen!! So let’s send him the love and support he needs from his fans. After all he has devoted his life to bringing us music that has touched our souls. We LOVE you Jon !!!!
@@killerofgiants8958 I’ll support Jon and Bon Jovi as long as they continue to make music, if you are done with that then leave the fans that still love them alone.
Since Richie left Jon is giving everything he have on the stage; that´s wearing Jon out. In the 80s the band practically had two lead singers (Jon and Richie). I don´t see Jon continuing without Richie, ain´t fun to see him struggling like that.
To me personally, Bon Jovi with out Richie Sambora Bon Jovi band was over. It is like Jon is a soul but Richie is a heart for the band without of either of these two the band is not gona last ! This is todays band it's getting worse right after Richie quit.
Except that Jon now has 4 back up singers behind him now (everyone in the band minus Tico) and they all sing backup in perfect key and timing. Jon's actually carrying much LESS vocal load than he did with Richie beside him. The issue is unfortunately with Jon, not a lack of having a vocal partner.
A very respectful breakdown of an obviously difficult situation. We don’t know what steps Jon has taken to try and fix it. But for sure he’s going to be stressed about it. It’s a shame.
It's no shame coz anything can happen against our wish anytime and that's the course of nature! For sure we all will die one day but still it's not matter of shame!
As a fellow vocal coach and singer that has experienced smth similar to this: This completely sounds and looks like a neuro-vocal problem.... Smth like Brian Littrell (Backstreet Boys) has experienced as well- muscle tension dysphonia. Basically your neurons are miss-firing information and your muscles do not react the way they have been trained, they tend to cramp and this can almost be spastic...It is NOT a thing of anything being technically or physically wrong with a singer. It can be exacerbated by bad technique but it is at it's core a psycho-physical phenomenon. It can get better through breathing and voice therapy and of course psychological help as well, but it is hard to treat once it's manifested itself for a long time. It is very important that the singer regains trust in their voice, vocal abilities and especially enjoys singing. The fact that he is still singing live and clearly trying, means that he is probably extremely aware of the problem but wanting to sing nevertheless. As someone that has been at times of psychological hardship affected by this as well, he has my respect. I hope he has the professional help he needs and the patience required to better this condition.
I was wondering about something like this. I'm not sure when these clips are from, but I wonder if he ever had Covid and if that affected his cords and nasal cavities or something as well.
I feel this thread is on the right track w/stress condition manifesting somataform disorder of chronic myofascial contracture. All that connective tissue encasing ever muscle and organ literally choking him.. He sounds like I sound when cervical myofascial sheet coils & knots up from stress & anxiety, pinching nerves and blood vessels running through it, cramping my digastric, mylo-, genio-, and stylohoid thus locking my larynx in a very high position, choking off my range and any mobility out of it. I use heating pads and cupping to loosen it enough to get in there with targeted "Fascia Blaster" tools and release each adhesion individually. Exhausting unless you do daily upkeep. (Fyi- imitation fascia blaster products don't release all 3 layers of fascia and flush the trapped lactic acid that cause so much pain, I spent thousands testing every product, and get no fee or affiliate discount for saying this. I am able to walk and sing again bc of them.). Por Jon. I want him to have a series of these easy, non-invasive treatments w/a pro, to feel if not sing better. He just seems like he's in pain. Whatta heartbreak!
Aerosmith vocalist, Steve Tyler has voice unchanged despite being much older than JBJ. His voice is incredible till this time, nothing about it has changed at all. The band came out 13 years ahead of JBJ's.
Steve Tyler had the good sense to rest his voice....Jon is a victim of his own balls to the grindstone, non-stop, never say die attitude...The dude needs to slow the fuck down...And i say that with love for him and all he has done.
Yeh there’s def something bad wrong. It’s not only his voice is going but other odd things too. They just need to go ahead and address it, unfortunately 🥴
@@staceyroberts3468 Stacey... I had read your comment and was trying to read it to my husband, but I was laughing so hard I had tears and couldn't even read it for a few minutes, when I read " other old things". 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣. Thanks for the laugh.
It's true his voice is gone but it went scattered around in millions of pieces, each one of them safely locked inside the memories of every single fan who ever bought any BON JOVI record or attended at least to one of their amazing concerts. Thank you Jon for never back down in never even once of your live performances. Hats Off to this great singer and songwriter.
Yes I agree totally theres not many bands that have lasted over 4 decades and wrote loads so amazing songs and alright maybexhes voice is weaker but its the whole experience is seeing this great band I for one have been lucky enough to see him a few times and him and the whole band never disappoint he always gives 100 percent and i for one thank them for that you have to give them credit for all the great music they have given us waiting for the next concert
he is overrated as much as he tries to rewrite history bon jovi was nothing more than a hair band. how this overrated libtard is in the rock hall of fame over foreigner bad company billy squier ted nugent and many more is a joke .
You know vocal coach, vocal doctor in vocal speech therapists are very much three different things and unless a QUALIFIED doctor who specializes in the voice like Dr Benninger, looks down a throat and says it's over with, it ain't over. If any vocal coach would have heard my throat right before my surgery you would have said the same thing, Jon probably has a further reach than I did at that time. AFTER a physician who is QUALIFIED to tell you how your throat is, after he looks into your throat, and/or does vocal surgery, and you go to a qualified excellent speech pathologist, and they tell you your voice is fried that's when you throw in the towel. . And only somebody who's looked down your throat, seen what's in there knows, if it can be fixed knows, if it can't be fixed, can tell you that to sit here and say that his voice is shot is wrong on so many levels. Yep he's having a hard time, yep he has a history of severe allergies, yep he's continued to sing to crowds of hundreds of thousands while he had these problems, yep he probably did damage because of that, yep he needs to go to the Cleveland Clinic and see Dr B who by the way is vocal doctor to the Stars literally. Not one of us is qualified to say what's wrong with his voice and vocal coaching as opposed to vocal doctor and speech pathologists are two different things. I went to vocal coach and didn't really help my throat I went to vocal pathologist and I've got Pat benatar range again so seriously just so wrong
This is the first time I'm seeing this and I'm sitting here crying. I knew Jon had massive voice problems but seeing it like that breaks my heart. It's especially sad it's happening now that Richie is ready to come back to the band. I hope this is something he can treat.
He says he does vocal exercises everyday for years but it doesn't seem to be working. I feel for him so much. It has to be really hard for him. He wants it so bad.
You have my full respect , there are several others on TH-cam that are pretty much bashing Jon and mostly making fun of him but you aren’t one of them. I love how you state that you aren’t bashing him at the beginning and throughout the video you maintain respect and intelligence. Many thanks to you.
Mine too he has given hisself 100% how completely. He has also provide so much joy and happiness to so many people and I think it is absolutely disgusting that these people do not know the meaning of compassion empathy and I sure don't know the definition of what is wrong with Jon, same as me but thank you so much for your considerate reply
Jon is a brave man. If I knew my voice was shot I could't go out on stage in front of a ton of people like him. I also wouldn't want to disappoint my fans though... It's time to call it a day it's so embarrassing. I grew up on Bon Jovi, my Mom blasted his songs all the time. This is very sad. I will always love Jon, bu it's time to give Richie his turn and let him lead the band!
The best video on this issue I’ve seen so far. I’m glad you’re a fan and not just Jon bashing like other videos I’ve seen. Bon Jovi should have cancelled this tour. Covid damaged his voice. Breaks my heart watching him struggle.I’m hoping and praying his voice recovers and he comes back kicking ass on the next tour. 40th Anniversary
I've listened to Bon Jovi since the beginning. It's sad to hear these performances since Jon has always been a great live performer. I hope this is a temporary problem that will get better. I wish him all the best!
Hi am Jon bon Jovi! Thanks for your efforts and for the great unconditional love on my career, after getting to your remarks here I was overwhelmed and so glad you'll wish me well I love you'll So we're you watching from?!
I just love Jon saw him in concert in 2013 and he was amazing! It sounds like it could be a medical problem 😕 I hope he looks into that he will always be loved by his fans!
I agree. I was thinking he had a stroke or something. I have been a fan from Runaway days been on fan club trips. They are the best band that I ever seen hope Jon will be able to get his voice back. They are legends I. My eyes and appreciate all the tours that they have given us!
I feel so sorry for singers when this happens, it must be such a lonely place to be. The expectations on yourself, for your bandmates and fans. There is SO much riding on you, the income you generate for so many people, the joy to so many fans. It was recently shown in great effect when Lewis Capaldi had issues at Glastonbury.
Man, that hurts to hear. Still a huge Bon Jovi fan. Saw them with Cinderella in KC around "88". Great show!! I have alot of respect for the guy. I hope this is a temporary thing. We'll see.
I have a few theories about this. Jon started smoking reportedly around 1994 until at least 2010 when the band insurance became excessive because of it and he reportedly stopped then. At one point Jon fired Doc McGhee and then took on the Manager role or CEO role as he called it as well as being songwriter singer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, actor.... workaholic. I suspect this made his smoking worse, a nervous habit. A singer in a band on gig days should lay relatively low and save everything for the show, he stopped doing that and took on too much, then he lost Richie his right hand man and harmonising, supporting back up voice. He had some depression it's thought, his daughter overdosed on Heroin, a lot of stress, he ran football teams, got into politics, too much going on. All of this lead to some kind of health incident of some kind that's affected his voice. He truly was one of the best with amazing control pretty much right up until Richie left. He should have stepped down as soon as these problems appeared as he has such an amazing legacy it's a shame to tarnish it.
He simply sounds like a person/singer who is tremendously tired/burnt out, nervous, or even depressed, or whatever. Nothing wrong with his chords or the voice itself as is suggested by many of the people analyzing the terrible state he is in. No matter what he is going through I feel so sad for him listening to all these clips
Tired/burnt out, nervous, or even depressed, or whatever. Nothing wrong with his chords?????? Give me a break-he sounds like a man that has had a stroke!
I know Jon had COVID at one point. Could that be what's causing his loss of voice? I'm a massive Bon Jovi fan and this really hurts to see him to struggle to sing. Steve Perry is 73 and he can still sing. Maybe not as high as he used to in his Journey days but the voice is still there. Something is wrong with Jon's voice. I know Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys had trouble with his voice for a while too. He went and got therapy for it and now he sounds much better. Maybe Jon needs some medical help on getting his voice back. I hate to think it's over for Jon.
i know so heartbreaking..im not ready for him to be done . i could only imagine what it's like for him :( sending my prayers , love and many hugs .much respect to you Jon . mo matter what the future may hold in store ..your still the best
Maybe Jon using too much his voice just for entertain us, but he forgot to rest and did some therapy vocal so that's why he lost too much his voice. Really sad and so sorry for him, Jon Bon Jovi as a rockstar is over now :(
Also a fan of Bon Jovi from the early days and it's sad to see the decline, as people have said. Interesting video, especially the way you are able to break down and analyse aspects of his singing voice. I hadn't seen the clips before and was quite shocked.
Jon if you're reading these comments, I'm so very sad that I never got to see you in your youth and back when you were in your heyday... I wish you well and back to.health, look after yourself, I've always loved your music and songs, just had my own issues to deal with back then. All the best to you and your band xx
I totally get it. Yes, my favorite band kiss took Bon Jovi out on their first tour, but Paul Stanley’s voice over the last few years has been horrific. Time to bring it to an end.
This deserves way more views!! Everything you're saying is true. I understand that jon's voice is aging, but that doesnt explain the weird vowels and singing way behind the beat. Its very strange to me.
He’s using twice as much energy that he should use to let that voice out. That doesn’t allow him to recover or catch a breath in time… that’s why he goes out of beat! He gets so tired!!
@@ahickin 😲. No doubt. I wonder if he got V? I’ve had that issue with my Larynx prior to Covid so we know mine isn’t from that but I am not surprised you thought that. Not all the masses ……. 😉
This is a shame. That’s all I have to say. Jon was one of the greats. Glad to say that I saw Bon Jovi several times in their prime. Were amazing shows.
I believe that bon jovi has had a stroke during the pandemic years ago and has kept it a secret other singers older than himself can still sing or he could have throat cancer
Great video and commentary. Respectful, even, given the tough task you took on. JBJ is among the very best frontmen in modern rock music, hands down. I've seen them live multiple times and the band is among most quality control act I've ever seen. But that was from 1992-2008. I think around 2010 or his voice took a serious dive downward and to me, it's use, plain and simple. The band was a road horse and toured relentlessly for years on end. Not sure you get over that when you get to his age. He's an absolute legend regardless. Great video.
Is hard to turn in the towel because we get older... He should be brave, proud and stop now, he will be remembered for his greatest accomplishments, no shame in getting old or giving up on what you have always loved doing, and still LOVE, that's the hardest part!!
I love Bon Jovi so much! The idea of him losing his voice is an extremely hard pill to swallow. I'll continue to see him if he tours again, but I won't be expecting it to look/sound like he did back on the Have a Nice Day tour. I do think he should publicly address his voice though. It'd a major elephant in the room that he hasn't talked about.
I noticed that during the lockdown recordings from his studies John was articulating on a seemingly contrived manner obviously having difficulty in hitting the right pitch on key notes. He is a artist and great human being let’s hope that he manages to get his voice back.
Hi! In my opinion the problem with John's shaky voice is not related to the vocal cords, but it is a neurological problem. We hope he will be able to recover soon! P.S. In the meantime it would be better and retire from the scene to avoid these truly horrible fools. Bye!
Jon Bon Jovi quit smoking years ago? He was quoted in 2010 as sayin "[I quit because of] the cold hard truth. I tried to get life insurance and the price with smoking was so ridiculous it was enough to piss you off and just throw them in the garbage," he explains, adding, "I swore off them before the tour and I'm happy to say that I haven't picked them up again."... I think his vocal issues now might be due to COVID. He had COVID last year. The COVID cough that lingers for months, even years it seems would have to reak havoc on your vocals.
Crushes my heart to hear his voice going under. He definitely earned all of the respect he deserves. To even still show up and try tells you what he is about. I wouldn't hesitate to go to his concert. We all gotta cherish what we have when we have it. We have been blessed to see Bon Jovi when his voice was commanding.
Respect is a two way street, if he wants the audience to respect him, he should not sing until he fixes his voice or flat out retire, I went to his concert in Austin and I was very disappointed, he sang even worse than this videos
This happens when you love your craft so much, that it becomes an obsession, like a flame that burns its own candle. There is a limit in everything, since we are just humans. He is a legend and I believe he should start chilling out because he deserves it after all the years of hardwork.
We're in this together Jon thanks for your beautiful voice i wish i had just a day of a voice like yours you are blessed. On to the next life chapter. Blessing
Ive been saying this for a few years now. But 2 things. First he is an old dude now and second, Ritchie Sambora was a huge part of the "Bon Jovi sound". Without his vocals, it doesnt sound the same.
Idol jon bon jovi didn't dissapoint his fans,he gave it all, hope all understands him,bon jovi as we all knew, was the greatest rock star, his band were the greatest band of all times, superb,i salute you idol bon jovi,a living legend
I've been a fan since they came out and I feel awful for what's happened to Jon's voice. Having said that, I'd be upset if I had paid to see him live like this.
That’s what I keep thinking. I know some fans r saying they r still happy just to get to see him live and they r satisfied with that. But him singing those songs right now 🥴 it’s just not good at all. It just sounds terrible and I know the tickets aren’t cheap
Well done sir! The first video to analyse Jon's singing without slagging him off! I agree with everything you say and believe that it's time to bring the curtain down on the amazing band that was Bon Jovi.
In rehearsals they had to see and hear his voice was not right. Very surprised Jon went ahead with the shows. He should have gone to the " covid card " and cancelled until he's back in full voice.
It's ok with us fans Jon has done 100% for his singing career and memories will stay forever. Thanks a lot for you have done your best performance on stage...We salute you YOUR THE BEST...ALWAYS REMEMBER WE LOVE YOU VERY MUCH❤❤❤❤❤
You know, its easy to slag him off at this point as his voice is obviously gone. For good, i don't know, but for now i think he needs to get it sorted out before he goes out on the road and essentially take people's hard earned money and not be able to deliver a solid vocal performance. I am really pulling for him to find his voice again.
it is heartbreaking to hear him struggle like this. i saw him 4 times in 2013 and he was singing great. went to wembley and coventry in 2019 and he was struggling a bit but overall the shows were still very good. but i am not sure i would want to see him again at that level of performance. hopefully he will get some help and we can hear him sing to a great standard again.
Hey just watched your video, which may I add was very well put together and I really appreciate how you mentioned this was not a dig at Jon. However, I am a huge fan of Bon Jovi but decided not to go to the gig this year due to the fact I really could not listen to Jon singing. Could this be psychological....looking back since Ritchie left, Jon vocally has not been the same. Could such a traumatic event like Ritchie walking cause this???? Just putting it out there...for me Jon has not been the same.
As a vocal Coach for 20 years now, i can tell you, this voice Giant Jon Bon Jovi was, needs to repair his voice with a mixed voice technique. He puts the voice in the mask without using the head voice ( not to be confund with falsetto ), and it ruins his voice. If you go on tour without having your Falsetto and head voice production at the right place and with the right amount of AIR, you're dead .
@@Simplenotion hi, you've probably pointed the problem, there are many reasons, only him knows. I've noticed another point. When you use ear monitors, you seem to have the tendencie to stick to the mic and trust the comfort of your flawless monitoring, but the projection and real natural resonances become poor , leading to un unbalanced voice. To me, it's a part of the problem. But damn how is it possible? he was a great singer !
I think a lot of these bands who have spent decades out there don't realize it's over until it's actually undeniably over. Jon Bon Jovi had a superb voice. I just don't think that he and the band thought it would be this bad on tour. Perhaps they realize now it's time to stop but in the middle of a tour you can't just shut it down.
They all do pre-production for a tour. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY they didn’t know it would be this bad. To go ahead with the project makes them all guilty. Fans should get refunds. This is BAD.
I think it’s neurological and / or he’s lost his hearing to a certain degree.Either way he should not be out charging his fans to see this crap! I am a huge Bon Jovi fan and would never ever go to see him now. I’ve seen him three times at Nassau Coliseum, twice at the meadowlands, and the big show at Giants Stadium (1st one) This is just awful!!!!!
I have loved Jon since he started singing. But his voice is gone. Been to several concerts, even took my two granddaughters, who also fell in love with him. They even came out and took my girls on stage! But when it’s over, you got to let it go. But we still love you guys Jon! Now my granddaughter is playing their music for her twins! And if they are restless, she puts on Bon Jovi, and they get quiet and listen. We’ll always be Bon Jovi fans!! ♥️❤️♥️❤️
Hi Leon, thank you for you analysys. What's interesting, to be honest, is that Jon has never used the floor monitors before. He is now. Can it be hearing issues?
I’ve seen quite a few videos of Bon Jovi recently, and none of them have been good. It’s sad, but his voice is just gone. He doesn’t have it anymore…even with the lowering of the keys of the songs…it’s just too much. After 40 years of performing, I think he’s used it up. Still a legend.
The guy is getting old, nothing last forever men, for so many years that he has been singing, it will surely take a toll on his voice. But eventhough he lost his voice, He is still Bon Jovi the legend. He will still go down in history as one of the best front man rock star ⭐ of all time. Huge respect to the guy weather he still got his voice or not.. Because once apon a time on his life, He became the Best Band Vocalist. Everybody will get old and will lost everything we got. thnx for the vid men
Saw them as an opening for Scorpions in Chicago when their song was "Runaway" Scorpions gave them an 8 ft stage/with equipment. and 10% light show...they pulled it off,, I was impressed
Im a 36 + year fan. He had surgery that altered his voice. His old stuff just is not in his current tone. Makes all the difference in the world. He has ALWAYS been amazing live. I can always go back and play all of his music via TH-cam. He does a lot to help people. During the pandemic he was live all the time helping us keep the faith. I am forever grateful for him and the band.
You dont seem to want to admit that he really cant sing any more. IMO your diehard fan support and encouragement saying he is ALWAYS amazing isnt doing him favors. Youd probably like to have him performing as it gets more and more cringe worthy. Telling him the truth would see him retire with grace and a positive legacy. Isnt that better than hundreds of youtube videos showing his tragic decline?
Yes, you're dong it for educational purposes: thank you. Taking care of one's voice, especially for singers, teachers, etc. is very important. Personally, I've sang, solo, on gigs, many, many times for 3 or 4 hours. Using falsetto (on the higher pitched parts), I think, is the only reason that I have any good vocal health, left. Don't scream, don't strain... these are mantras that will help to remember, to use your voice with care. Practice keeping your laryx low (don't allow it to rise much when going for high notes.) Sing like you're yawing. Take in air, like you're taking it all the way down to your toes, then use your diaphram to push the air out (use the power of your diaphram to power your singing) These are words that I've learned from vocal experts. They are worth heeding.
"Runaway" is the debut single by American rock band Bon Jovi. It was originally recorded in 1981. He was about 19 years old. People's looks, physical health and voices tend to change. I would think that the real question should be, would you pay a lot of money to see "Jon Bon Jovi" today ?
I want to know why u think his voice has declined so quickly, 2010,11,12,13 he still delivered unbelievably well, then all of a sudden no voice!! I actually saw them live twice in 2019 in the uk and the shows were superb and he actually sounded good, then roll on 3 years and barely any voice left, and 2 of those years were off due to Covid. It seems very strange to me.
If you saw him just prior to the pandemic, is there a chance that he himself got covid and suffers from the lasting damage of long covid? Admittedly, I haven’t followed the band in about a decade so not sure if he had been ill with anything recently.
Smoking will do it every time… and it’s a great loss for us. But I will always love their music! My husband and I went off, and the CD he put in Bon Jovi…. We love you guys! We have every album that they made.❤
I look at it like this... ..if you were a child of the 80s, remember, these bands gave us a ton of enjoyment. The music helped us thru some hard times. I feel these bands owe us nothing. They did the job for us. I get Bon Jovi, Paul Stanley and David Lee Roth just to name a few, have lost vocal ability. But Damn, they were dynamic back in the day. I will always remember them for that.
He was one of the best rock voices of his day. But some point, he has to say to himself and the band “I don’t have it anymore, I can’t keep this up and it’s not going to get any better. It’s not fair to the fans to keep doing this like this.”
Saw him many, many times and this year in Charlotte. When he started singing, my heart went out to him…I hurt for him. If there is a medical problem and it can be attended to, great, if not, he certainly needs to retire. He has nothing to prove to any of his true fans.
nothing worse than paying expensive ticket prices to see a bad performance but people love there bands no matter how bad they sound.....i have seen bon jovi probably 10 times or more in my lifetime like a lot of other bands but no longer go anymore because it just isnt the same.Still had a hall of fame career though....but sad when its over
Everything in life is a season, Jon is not the only artist who is no longer 100% time catches up with us all enjoy the recordings and past live performances that are available, having said that I would rather listen to performer's of the past than alot of the so called present performer's.
People on here saying how sad or heartbreaking it is to see Jon perform this way... really? He sings and dances for a living. He cannot do it like he did 20 years ago. Comparing him to other musicians his age that are performing better means nothing. He is a different person with his own issues with aging. Jon Bon Jovi has given thousands of stellar performances that most of you could not do on your best day. As long as the fans want to show up for him, then rock the fk on Jon.
I'm a singer, and I can tell you that the saying that "if don't use it, you lose it" is very true. You have to use your pipes on the regular so they can work right?😳
One thing I would like to add and maybe others have said the same thing. Jon always used in-ears monitors before. Every video of Bon Jovi live he has one monitor and its for lyrics. I used in-ears for a decade now. That being said this time he is using monitors which is completely different than in-ears. I've had to do shows with monitors because of wireless issues and let me tell those shows are hard. You can't hear like you can with in-ears. I'm just wondering if Jon had some issues with in-ears this tour. Ear issue where he couldn't wear them or something like that. Now Jon is not one to make any of that public but something was wrong for him not to be wearing in-ears. There was an interview with Jon and he said this last tour was to see if he can still do it. I know he has had covid and that messed with his voice. Who knows, maybe he is a long hauler and it will be awhile to recover his vocals. Lets Pray for the guys and hope he can recover. God Bless
He's been kicking ass his whole life. From the early band. To keeping them. Relevant all these years. And a great buisnessman above all. Only a few of our 80s artists are still touring superstars .He is one of them. No regrets.

Great outdoor show, and Jon's voice was amazing live.

That's life, he basically ruptured his vocal cords. 35 years of stress singing 4 times a week did that to him. It just shows how strong and amazing his voice was for so long but nothing lasts forever.....
The voice is gone, the legend remains.
He got vaccinated! And still got COVID, lost his voice for two weeks, cancelled some of his tour dates, his voice hasn't been right since! Remember the powers that be made musicians get the jab in order to perform!
Many singers are having the same problems!
yep its gone & he needs time off to reboot, but a good coach like ken tamplin can get his 80's voice back.. anything of real value takes patience/persistence & discipline . could we read a newspaper at after 3 full time years of schooling at 7 years of age?

There is no point of pushing it. He's done enough, the band has done enough. Nothing to prove. They had a phenomenal career.❤️

This is heartbreaking. Thankyou for not bashing him because he is clearly struggling with something. Jon has put his whole heart and soul into his career and fans and we need to be kind and supportive as he goes through whatever it is he is going through. Covid could have impacted him badly.
It is like
Jon is a soul but Richie is a heart for the band without of either of these two the band is not gona last ! This is todays band it's getting worse right after Richie quit.
Jon’s the heart on Bon Jovi and Richie was the soul!
@@AlanRaviAtchison I agree :)
Riche was the backbone of the band
@@Slambam73 that would for sure not help. I don't think it's the main contributing factor though.

@@johnlucier5654 Another GREAT 80s band.
He is taking voice lessons everyday now, God Bless Jon Bon Jovi 🙏🏻

I'm only three mins into the video, and it already sounds to me like he doesn't have any monitoring. It could be his hearing that's diminished, too.
A very good and kind commentary. I will always love Jon.
I think his heavy smoking has taken its toll.
Very well put

At the end of a show I saw a video where Jon grabbed an inhaler so it's probably a breathing issue that's messing his voice
If you go on tour without having your Falsetto and head voice production at the right place and with the right amount of AIR, you're dead .
as a fellow vocal coach...Please read the lengthy comment I left on the issue.
I use to hang out with him when he lived with his grandparents in Erie pa
Lol dude it's not over. It's one thing smoking...if he quit that ...got blood flow back to his cords he will repair
Hi Leon, thank you for you analysys. What's interesting, to be honest, is that Jon has never used the floor monitors before. He is now. Can it be hearing issues?
You know the more I think about it the more I think it's as much in his head as his voice. The change in monitors may be a symptom of that.
I noticed it on his last album, he voice sounded very cracked and not great
The guy is getting old, nothing last forever men, for so many years that he has been singing, it will surely take a toll on his voice.
I am forever grateful for him and the band.
oh where did you find this out at? what kind of surgery?
Jon, you're always a LEGEND!!!
"Runaway" is the debut single by American rock band Bon Jovi. It was originally recorded in 1981. He was about 19 years old. People's looks, physical health and voices tend to change. I would think that the real question should be, would you pay a lot of money to see "Jon Bon Jovi" today ?
In a heartbeat!
1981?didnt the album came out in 84
I want to know why u think his voice has declined so quickly, 2010,11,12,13 he still delivered unbelievably well, then all of a sudden no voice!!
2 shoots plus the booster probably
Sad, but the machine wants it's money. It doesn't care about Jon, just the money
@@brookejones6777 Jon is the machine
His voice could recover given some rest and the right therapy
nothing worse than paying expensive ticket prices to see a bad performance but people love there bands no matter how bad they sound.....i have seen bon jovi probably 10 times or more in my lifetime like a lot of other bands but no longer go anymore because it just isnt the same.Still had a hall of fame career though....but sad when its over
Thank you
For this video.
I'm praying 🙏🙏🙏
For Jon.
GOD WILL HEAL
His heart.
And...
His voice.
Hang in there,
Jon.
God's got you.
Everything in life is a season, Jon is not the only artist who is no longer 100% time catches up with us all enjoy the recordings and past live performances that are available, having said that I would rather listen to performer's of the past than alot of the so called present performer's.
Time is slipping bye use all , you don’t stay young forever remember young folks you’ll find out too 🙏🕊
What ever you say we are bon jovi die hard fans...he is still the best
People on here saying how sad or heartbreaking it is to see Jon perform this way... really? He sings and dances for a living. He cannot do it like he did 20 years ago. Comparing him to other musicians his age that are performing better means nothing. He is a different person with his own issues with aging. Jon Bon Jovi has given thousands of stellar performances that most of you could not do on your best day. As long as the fans want to show up for him, then rock the fk on Jon.
VERY WELL PUT
I'm a singer, and I can tell you that the saying that "if don't use it, you lose it" is very true. You have to use your pipes on the regular so they can work right?😳
Absolutely correct!
No regrets.
His life is one that could not have been scripted any better. No king in history has enjoyed what JBJ has experienced.
Why to react? It’s just he is getting old and so his voice and at some point we all do. Respect 👏
Damn that sucks I love Bon Jovi!! No matter what 💗
People who work hard to be able to afford tickets…deserve better than this. I feel bad for Jon and for the band; but this isn’t fair to ticket buyers.
