  • In this Vlog, we compare Porsche's Thermally Insulated Glass against Spectra Photosync IRD window film. Spectra Photosync IRD is the best heat blocking window film in the industry. This was a fun project and the numbers from the test are astounding. Thanks for watching, and don't forget to Subscribe and give the Vid a thumbs up.
    For more info on Spectra Photosync IRD or to locate a dealer near you, please visit the manufacturer's website: www.Prestige-Films.com
    As you can see from our test comparisons, Spectra Photosync IRD easily outperforms Porsche's Thermal Insulated Glass factory option. And when applied on top of Thermal Glass, the heat blocking performance is drastically improved. Do keep in mind that heat gains not just through the glass, but through the entire car. If your car is parked outdoors in hot weather, the interior of the car will still get hot....just not as hot with this tint.
    The addition or use of Spectra Photosync IRD helps with the overall driving comfort and reduces the need to turn up the AC or Heater, hence eating away at the car's range.

    Soft spoken and quite talented are the guys at Premier. Highly recomended for anyone in the SF Bay. There is a solid reason that they are booked out 2 months in advance.

      Thank you 🙏. Not only are your products top notch, but one of the few manufacturers we’ve worked with that has true integrity behind them. Thanks for making such a great film 👍

    Hi. Great video. Can I check with you the factory thermal glass .. does the front and back glass have that too or just side window only ? My local Porsche sales assistant told me it’s only the side window but I think it’s the whole car ..

    Great review!!! Do you think the result will be the same if IRD30/55 were applied on the standard window (non-TIG) ?

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you 🙏. The results will be slightly different without Thermally Insulated Glass, but the difference between the glass without Spectra Photosync and with it will remain the same.
      Here is a test we did between two Porsche GT3 RS, neither of which has the TIG. th-cam.com/video/EyoGAg63NUw/w-d-xo.html
      You can see the difference in performance between the two. We’ve test the all of the major brands of film against Photosync IRD, and Spectra Photosync has come up on top every time.

    Nice video Wilson, it prompted me to give you a call. I heard you were on another car so I got info from David. Very informative folks.
    Fyi the "thermally Insulated" glass is is also noise insulating like double pane helps with which also makes it a popular option.

    Hello first of all Thank you so much for amazing video ,I have a question taycan front windshield does block the Speed radar signal? someone says yes is not working with taycan windshield ,someone says no is working I just confused can you help me ?

      Hi,
      The only thing we can add to the topic is that we've tinted the front windshields of over 200 Taycans and thousands of luxury cars (with radar/lidar) and haven't had any issues. You'll have to make sure the film your installer uses is non-metallic so that it does not block or affect signals.

  • @krazieboy03
    @krazieboy03 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe this question may be odd. I really like the specs on the Photosync but it doesn't go dark enough for me. I was thinking of doing 20% front with ceralux and photosync for the rest of the car which has oem tint. Whats your opinion on this? Do the ceralux and photosync look similar when staring in and out? or would there be a noticeable hue.

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have customers mixing and matching between Ceraluxe and Photosync quite often.

  • @bobbybuckhead
    @bobbybuckhead ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is there any major “Distortion” in seeing through the tint?
    Thank you for your reply.

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      No major distortion for the Taycan. Spectra Photosync IRD is also one of the most optically clear window films around. About the only distortion would be the “rainbow effect” when looking through tinted windows while wearing polarized sunglasses. This effect is natural for any window film brands.

    Porsche advertise there thermal glass mainly to reduce road noise and heat protection last
    Laminated glass with increased reflection for:
    Noticeably improved acoustics due to the minimization of external noises
    UV protection
    Reduced warming of the interior. Do a double dosage will help greatly.

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you did not misunderstand the point of comparison for this video. We have a Taycan as well and fully appreciate and understand those benefits you mentioned. Listing the heat blocking benefit “last” does not mean it is not a point of emphasis. We’ve worked on Taycans in the 100s and the majority of the owners would ask us about the Heat blocking benefits of the Thermally Insulated Glass. It was already an assumption that those who get the TIS option already appreciate the other features and want to know more about the heat blocking aspects.

    Do, your research: Taycan's Real World range's 240-300 miles, depending on model and wheel config.
    Nonetheless, thanks for the promo, info.

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very true, which is why mentioned the range is about 200 miles before needing to charge. I’m an owner of multiple Teslas, so my experience is that most owners including myself are charging their EVs to 80%, with few draining their cars 100% before charging. Thanks for your comments though.

    Have been told you can't apply film to Porsche insulated glass because if you roll down the windows it will damage the film (thicker glass - more friction on the window seal?). Any comment or truth to this? Great video

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question. All we can say is that we've tinted well over 50 Taycans with Spectra Photosync and haven't had any issues with this. Teslas also have Insulated glass and we've tinted thousands of those.

    What about sound? Will the insulated windows help cut down on noise?

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, TIG reduces road noise. The purpose of this test is strictly a comparison of the heat reduction / rejection properties of Spectra Photosync IRD and TIG. Spectra Photosync IRD is the highest heat blocking window film in the industry. The best case scenario is to have both 🙂.

    • @50yearoldskier

      @@PremierProtectiveFilms thanks Wilson! I just wanted to check to see if based on your experience the extra glass was worth it to cut down on noise. I will be coming to your shop for sure. Will need PFF!

  • @tomchoi7074

    What about ird on a normal glass, and how does it against noise?

    • @PremierProtectiveFilms
      @PremierProtectiveFilms  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Window Film does little for wind noise reduction. That's why the TIG is a dual pane glass. The main benefits of window film is heat reduction during hot days, heat retention during colder weather, UV blocking, & glare reduction.
      Spectra Photosync IRD outperforms all other window film brands in terms of heat & and IR rejection. With or without Porsche's TIG, Spectra Photosync will provide the best heat blocking in the industry....granted there is no such thing as complete heat block.
      Here is really old video we did to show the performance of the previous version of Spectra Photosync (before the release of "IRD):
