    Still can't find one. 😒

    If you use dmw-ac10 gh6 shouldn't shut down when you make a picture/photo during using a battery dummy. This happens with the "wrong" power adapter dmw-ac8. This was the issue with my gh5 in the past.

    Don’t you get the annoying message about insufficient power? TIA

      @TheBudgetFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, only on the S1. The GH6 is also happy with the very weak 1A USB Power over the Tilta handle.

    I like your solution; however, it does not allow for external SSD recordings. I don’t shoot weddings, I shoot live theatre, concerts and dance shows. I use the USB power solution too but my battery is secured to the legs of the tripod.

      Thank you!
      Yes that's true. Sadly there is still no perfect option for the GH6 in my opinion.

    That's a really good point about how a battery grip is not only good for still photographers but is also a real help for videos shooters as well , because of the extra battery life! Regarding the "dummy battery" I had problems on my GX85, but turned Silent Mode on and now it's working (it would die previously when setting a custom white balance, probably because it used the mechanical shutter taking that calibration shot)!

    • @TheBudgetFilmmaker
      @TheBudgetFilmmaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the battery grip is the most form fitting battery life extension imo. Switching to silent mode could be worth a try. The main reason I stopped using the dummy battery was that it failed constantly when shooting in higher framerates after the NP-F battery got drained a little. As soon as the power fell below 75% I was only able to use it in 50p or lower, which is kind of restricting for this camera. My guess is that the GH6 just needs a little more juice than the S5 for these modes which either the dummy battery or the NP-F battery can't deliver.

      @@TheBudgetFilmmaker Connect a power bank that has a 9V/3A output. This is the solution to the mentioned problems.

      Hey Bryan, good to know. I don't recall having that issues on my g85 with dummy battery. But I didn't do much shooting like that because... The g85 has battery grips! Third party, with a dang remote control, great build, and just $40. I haven't got a dummy for the gh6 just yet.

      @@regenytarmovies Thank you, and I'll try to find such a battery...if you have an affiliate link (or a regular link if you want, or just a product name I can look up on Amazon) for the specific battery you found that works, maybe you could send it to my email (it's on my website at the bottom of every page, etc).

      @@lanceevans1689 That's good info, and I could probably test it on my G85, and I might try to find a 9V/3A battery as mentioned above and see if that was my problem on the GX85 (so I don’t kill it, as it's my main shooter after my GX85 started having electrical problems after using a AF Canon-mount Viltrox speed booster...you probably saw my notes on Facebook and TH-cam short about that, so now I'm going with the all manual focus/aperture versions of the Viltrox adapters).

    Thanks for this video Joe. I agree, and have been looking for a gh6 grip for months. It makes zero sense why neither Panasonic more third parties have put one out. I'm starting to be concerned there is some technical issues preventing it. The other related issue that you didn't mention is that now SSD is supported via the USBC port. And so far works wonderfully in my limited testing. But that means we need the port for the SSD. Someone posted they tried connecting both a power bank and SSD to the port, but no go. Panasonic should have had all these small but important issues ironed out, but no. It is a brilliant, but flawed camera.

    • @TheBudgetFilmmaker
      @TheBudgetFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, true, that's an issue for some. I use CFExpress and SD, so it's not an issue for me. But SSDs are a great budget option.
      I wish that the dummy battery wouldn't act up sometimes. That would solve the USB-C issue.
      I now use the Tilta powergrip, the small one for np-f300 series. Works good, but the low power output over USB isn't enough to charge the battery faster than it drains. But I like the more sturdy connection.
      So, yes... there is no perfect solution at this point in my opinion.

      @@TheBudgetFilmmaker I saw there are some videos on TH-cam that talk about using a dummy battery in the gh6. Perhaps there are other brands that are working better than the ones you tried? If I recall I had to swap out a couple of different brands before getting one that worked well with my g85.

    I'm a stills photographer and the G9 is my primary body. I almost always have the battery grip mounted, not so much for the battery part, but the grip part (including redundant controls), as I often use long lenses (Leica 100-400) and shoot in portrait mode. The fact that the GH6 doesn't offer the option of a battery grip is a deal-breaker.

    • @TheBudgetFilmmaker
      @TheBudgetFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree. For sure, there is definitely a G9 version of the GH6 coming, just like with the GH5 and G9. Maybe without a different screen and without fans but with an grip option. Still, it's unnecessary to not make a dedicated grip...

    Good evening
    I come to you following a report on the inability of the gh6 to record on an SSD (USB-C SSD function activated) when the gh6 is powered by a powerbank in dummy connection (powerbank and dummy recommended by the brand) the case s turned off suddenly after a few seconds of recording, do you have the same problem on your side, please?
    Thank you

    schönes Set was Du da hast, deine Links zu Smallrig funktionieren leider nicht mehr, kannst Du diese aktualisieren?
    Deine Lösung gefällt mir sehr gut, daher würde ich die auch gerne für meine machen 🙂

    Great video! Clever use as I always hated having the battery pack behind the body which got in the way of the monitor. I wonder though, what’s the stiffness of your build? I hate rigging things out as you are essentially adding points of failure and flex. With this set up, when you place it onto a tripod, does it flex or bend or come loose if you were to twist or turn the camera?
    Gah, battery life is definitely my biggest gripe with this camera.

    • @TheBudgetFilmmaker
      @TheBudgetFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes twisting is a bit of a weak point here. It can come loose after a couple of hours when used extensively on a tripod. A second set of holes to mount it twice on the same plate could easily fix that issue. I haven't used this setup a lot since I got a Tilta powergrip, but that thing has it's own downside since it delivers not enough power to fill up the battery fast enough. But it is enough to extend battery life and reduce my stress during shooting.

    Wery good solution. It doesn't hurt the camera if the charging works all the time?

    • @TheBudgetFilmmaker
      @TheBudgetFilmmaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. Hmm... so far no problems, I am not an engineer, so I can't tell if it hurts the camera.

    • @lanceevans1689
      @lanceevans1689 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since the USB-C port is designed specifically for use as a charging port, if there’s any problem with damage to the camera that’s on Panasonic and they should stand behind repairs.
