@@jimmypena2442 Good luck! I did the same thing and it's been a damn blast. The 2v Mustangs are one of the best sounding mustangs ever despite struggling with power at times.
For a long time the new edge mustang (specifically the mach 1) was my favorite too! It has moved down the list for me though. I think the gt350r is my new favorite 🤔

Thats was my first car. But mine was green. I had a off road H-pipe on it and she sounded amazing. It was a fun car.
Ah, the 90's. When special edition packages meant nothing more than a couple badges slapped on and a 5K mark up
More power, bigger brakes, better suspension, different seats and other interior accents.. I'd say it's worth it.
Except, this wasn't the 90s and the Bullitt wasn't a sticker package.

Great review Matt. I owned a 2001 Black Bullitt #4200. Best car I ever owned. It brought back great memories listening to the exhaust notes just now. Just loved the way the car sounds. I hope whoever buys that car removes that ugly spoiler immediately though.

I remember when these fist came out I fell in love with them. My uncle had a 2001 gt I thought it was the coolest. Fast forward to today and I am still thinking of getting one and daily driving it, I only drive about 30 miles round trip so gas shouldn't be that bad.
They are reliable. I had an 01 GT that I bought brand new and I still have my 2001 Cobra.
Although this didn’t make you “Matt Laugh “, I really love and appreciate it because GT that exists now never happened without previous model like this!! Thanks for sharing!!
I like anything Mustang. Crazy that our 4 Cylinder Naturally Aspirated Engines are more power than the V6 Engines of that Era.

Love the new edge body styles. I think they will be the next mustang to go up in value as years go on like the fox bodies are nowadays. Especially the terminators.
we had a 2004 anniversary edition convertible..the only mustang ive had experience with other than test drives in others..it was a v6 and had an auto.
what a boat! it felt so prehistoric on so many levels, clattery ,bad handling with that solid axle, a gas guzzelling brute..the interior just had that cheap as hell vibe...i used to envy the v8 gt guys, but then again, all other aspects of this car would still be similiar...the one we had was my gf's car, not my own.but i was glad when she got rid of it...it Did feel like it would be reliable, and it did have super comfortable seats, though they looked like nothing, they were comfortable on long trips.. Now the New stangs!!! thats another story!! id love one if i could afford it
If this website is to be believed, the actual HP for the Bullitt in 2001 was 275.

Fuel cutoff is 6025 RPM. The bullitt intake manifold meant that the car produced about 90% of peak torque at 1800rpm. The brakes for the time were excellent. The hydro boost system gave amazing feel and modulation imo.
I will say, the SN-95’s new edges had the best engine noise of all the mustangs. A flowmaster was all it needed and it sounded way faster than it really was. This reminded me of my 2003. Miss that car. I still have a 98 cobra in the garage with 80k miles. Plan on getting her all up to date so she can roam the streets once more.
The new Bullitt is cool and everything, but I like this generation of Bullitt better

Put a coyote motor in it......with an irs rear end from a cobra......no badges or rear spoiler......expensive build.....but best of the old and new......big hp in light body equals hotrod

I always like your reviews, and this is no different but it's not fair to compare this to a 19. In 01 this was a killer car when it came out! I remember the first time I saw one out. These cars are way different than the Gt in every way, I own both. I love Gt 's as well but the Bullitt feels like an entirely different animal in handling and acceleration. The designers put alot of thought into these. There's actually like 50 differences from the Gt. Some parts were exclusive to the Bullitt and others were borrowed from the Cobra. The Bullitt is rated at 275 hp not 265, Ford updated that. There's footage on TH-cam from 01 we're they tested the car at the track bone stock and ran 13.80s that is a fantastic et for that time and any time leading up to that. Motorweek reviewed the Bullitt in 01 and loved it they praised it more than the 01 Cobra. Great time to buy one with them being at the bottom of the depreciation cycle👍. Thanks for the review. First black one I've seen. The True Blue is also rare, but I've actually seen a couple of those. Nice review. P.S. the Cobra, Bullitt, and Mach 1 during this era were all under rated from the factory due to the 1999 Cobra fiasco that happened. These Bullitts are actually making more power than advertised.

Bruce Wayne There was a class action lawsuit because the 1999 Cobra didn't make the horsepower advertised. What happened is they tested the car and rated it, but then when they went to production they realized they had to alter the exhaust to clear the rear axle. This alteration zapped some power. At least, that's the story that floats around. So, there was no 2000 Cobra because Ford recalled all the '99s and fixed them. When they started doing special models again for 01/02 they started to under-rate them on purpose to ensure that it didn't happen again. To this day Ford is under-rating cars. The 2018 GT is rated 460 but actually makes 475-480 per dyno testing owners have done. Matt Maran's new Bullitt is probably a 500 HP car or close to it even though it's rated less than that.

I'm sorry but it's black!! The 2008 Green Bullitt, to me, is the best Bullitt. I will say the 2001 Bullitt seats are very comfortable .
The torque and lighter weight are what’s making it feel like it got a good punch to it. Get it on a highway and one will see how it pales in comparison to new ones at speed. This one has a rear spoiler put on it as from the factory they did not have rear spoilers.
The new ones have that new 10 speed auto......instant response......can't argue about that......only the big price tag for a new one......

My best run totally stock Bullitt ran 13.73 at 100 MPH at sea level california track. It would average in the low 14's unless you could walk it off the line hard.
Pulled out the Flowmasters out of mine and replaced the exhaust w/ a Borla exhaust. My car is a BEAST!

Although the pony is on the front of the car, it has a blacked out corral around it which is Bullitt specific as opposed to the chrome corral that all the GT's and V6's had. Ford did that much to make it look like the movie car without removing the pony completely which I believe looks better, especially on this body style. The 01 bullitt has a lot of specific parts that most people don't see, and if you were to read the book about designing and producing the bullitt you would find that no fog lights and no spoiler may seem to be stripping the car and selling it for less, when in reality, the addition of the cobra brakes, Intake manifold and much more made the car quite the bargain. Overall this was a decent review although I don't think a good youtuber/reviewer should ever compare a 2001 to a 2019. Compare it to what was around at the time and its GT siblings in the ford lineup. An ecoboost should be much better for how new it is, but remember it is a much more expensive car with years of technology behind it.
Very well said Justin! Being an 01 bullitt mustang owner, my eye is trained on the bullitt specific parts. Ie. Sail panels, mud flaps, spoiler delete, fog light delete, cobra brakes. For the purist is what made the 01 so special.

Ford fanboyism? The only other Fords I reviewed in the past few months were my Bullitt and the F-150. I hardly ever review Fords and don't have any more Ford reviews planned for the rest of the year.

looks way better with the rear spoiler.he was smart adding it.only issue is the clutch if you have a bad knee it will get worn out...need a leg of steel...

Those numbers seem a bit off. Car and Driver clocked a stock new edge GT at 5.4 to 60 and 14.0 through the 1/4. Motortrend reported similar numbers.
Evan smith from MM&FF mag went 13.79 in a bone stock 03 gt. Granted that man is a god when it comes to stick shift mustangs but they were capable with a good driver. My 03 with some exhaust,timing adjuster, and intake work on 275 street tires went a best of 13.42 at 104. I usually had to miss a gear or spin hard to run in the 14s. Now my 96 was a diff story, that dog went 14 flat on a 50 shot WITH gears and bolt ons
They didn't run those numbers on average. I saw plenty run at my local track (sea level) and mid to low 14s were the norm. They were barely faster than the base GT.

Actually being in ohio I wondered if I were ever over in PA with my 01 you'd do a review of the car being you hadn't reviewed an 01 version yet. I still think the 01 version should be reviewed in its original state minus the spoiler... preferably in Drk Highland Green. The car you reviewed was clean but not original. Bullitt purist want the simple things on the car they were delivered with. Those are what made the car what it is and why it's so special. Good review but it's hard to compare this car to something new when the comparison is so vastly different. Enjoy it for what is not what it is compared to today's standards. Thanks for sharing.
I maybe would have bought one new, but since Ford never advertised them I didn't find out they were made till several months after the last one had sold.

Side skirts are where the money is. Totally unique to the 2001 Bullitt but more similar to the terminator than the GT.
I believe as well that the Bullitt doesn’t have fog lights or the lipped out rockers on the exterior. This one also has the chin spoiler.
i got a 2001 bullitt with 93xxx miles for 15k the other day lol but goddamn it drives like a wet dream, car is perfect condition been keep in a climate controlled building for 13 years, no rips in seats, all original parts including tires, basically brand new, i love the car
A guy traded one of these in on our ‘19 Bullitt at work and I was wondering why he didn’t keep it as well but it sounded rough as it had 184k miles. The interior was in much better condition than the exterior though. Love the seats.

I have a stage 2 Cammed full bolt on 2001 Bullitt, with 4.10 gears and it will run with a new GT.
From a dig, maybe. From a roll, no chance.
MOST H8D 4.10s do shine more on take off. My 1/4 mile time is 12.5 at 110 which is right there with a stock newer GT. btw The previous owner had a 130 shot on it and it ran 11.5 at 120. A lot of people underestimate these little 2v
Nate I did a couple of things to my mach and sold it because the 5.0’s I love the sound of the 4.6’s but man simple things to the 5.0’s and they are fast! Bought my 16’ 5.0 and sadly sold my azure blue Mach it pulled hard had 3.73 gears was going with the 4.10’s but ehhh
Coyote motor goes right in to a new edge pretty easily......would kill your new gt with less weight......half price......

Yup. I still see them frequently on the road around here. There's even one for sale close to me. But it's a beater.
The Black and True Blue weren't really Bullitts. That's like painting the General Lee Dodge Charger blue and calling it a Dukes of Hazard edition. No, it has to be orange. The Dark Highland Green is soon clean looking and beautiful.

Hi love your show. However that mustangs were death trap and rattle box. My was Gt 2000. No esc. What can I loved and miss you my first Ford Thunderbird SC 3.8 supercharged. If you have a chance you should test one stick. Because auto was over 1 second slower. I love that car and I only sold it when it had 150,000 miles blowed my engine. T-bird had almost a Lincoln Mark VII side and more power. Much roomer and bigger that mustang. I used destroy mustang for breakfast with SC
My best friend has a modded 1990 5-Speed T-Bird SC. His isn't a good representation of stock any more :)

I'm a huge fan of Bullitt and really enjoy your reviews! I'm so glad you've reviewed all three special edition cars. Now you have to get your hands on a 1968 Bullitt replica to give us the full picture :) The only thing wrong with this 01 Bullitt is that it's Black and has a Spoiler. Otherwise I love it. Half second faster than a GT it was not. The difference between the Bullitt and the GT was barely noticeable. The 305 Mach 1 was the version that was slightly faster.
Mach 1 was way faster than a GT, whole 'nother universe faster.

I thought the 01 Bullitt's didn't have GT badges, side scoops or hood scoops. Is this a replicar? It also looks like it sits higher than an 01 Bullitt. Great review, though Matt! I love the New Edge's. I've owned two.
I see what you mean. It's sitting high. The owner did add the 03 Mach 1 chin spoiler. But I think they came with the GT badges. Those early Bullitts were only a few clicks different from base GTs.
Thanks! Like I explain in the beginning, the 01 was the least faithful and had the badges and scoops. If you look up other 01s, you’ll see they all had them originally. Not sure about the ride height on this one.
The 2001 bullitt had the gt hood scoop, 2001 was the first year of the non functional hood scoop on the new edges. It did have gt badges from the factory, and it had bullitt specific side scoops, not the ones from the gt.
