Excellent video, I learned so much from the video and the great comments. Sounds like a trunion upgrade ,LS7 lifters and trays, cam stage 2, melling oil pump w/ lifter spring upgrade. I just want a reliable engine. Thanks so much
Put the bolt through the bottom side of the spring compressor with a lock washer and then you have a stud that you can run the nut down to compress the springs
You can use lisle 19700 to push air in the cylinder to keep valves up. If your engine is dry, you can skip the dowel rods by rotating the engine upside down during camshaft install
If your cam retainer plate is recessed, get the recessed plate, if it is not, get the recessed plate and the screw for it and torque it to 11ft lb or 132 in lb.
I would definitely be changing thosee lifters. Its worth doing as much as possible while you have it out the car to make sure its going to be a solid engine. Side note, any stickers left? Would love one in my workshop.
Thanks! I'm in the process of ordering parts. I do have FREE stickers still. just send me an email with the address you want me to send it and what color you would like
@@scantronsgarage great stuff. I'll send you a message. I noticed when your spraying it looked like you didnt always release the trigger when changing direction. It can end up giving you a line of heavier paint. Engine bays are hard to paint anyway you got a damn good finish there. 👍
I got them sticks at ACE Hardware. You can get them at a Lowes or Home Depot as well. This makes it simple. Unfortunately for me I had to take the heads off due to needing new lifters. But this method certainly worked.
Sorry for late comment. just watch this. If not already addressed the lifters need to be swapped. That scoring on the lobes is bad. Also it's cheap insurance to go ahead and replace the oil pump for a Melling 10295. You remember how the oil pan looked, the pump can't be any prettier.
Thanks for the advice! I have not done anything with the motor since. I am waiting on $$ for the new lifters, trays and oil pump. I got held up with paying for two sets of kids braces unfortunately. I am afraid to dig into this thing any further in fear of finding more wear and neglect.
@@trentdemoss2218 Thanks! I was just trying to be cheap and get the thing started quicker. Oh well.. I did the right thing and replaced them. Only two were boogered up.

Hey I’m looking to do a cam swap where can I get them sticks

be cool if they made a 4/7 cam swap for the LS
That would be cool! I am curious as to why no company offers one.
How do I get one of them stickers?
Just send me an email with the address you would like one mailed to. My email is fscantron13@gmail.com
