Great video. I’m brand new to RC and lipo batteries. However I noticed you had your batteries plugged in to the charger before plugging in your charger. The manual warns against that to keep from short circuiting the leads. No issues doing so? Thanks.
Thank you! That is not something I normally do, but I guess when I was testing the charger I had done things reverse of what I usually do. I don’t think it should hurt anything provided that everything is connected properly, however. I would assume the same thing could happen if the power goes out while you’re charging, and then comes back on.
I had a Duratrax Onyx 235 for a long time, probably like 15 years before I realized WTF am I using this thing? Its was good, but I then got a HTRC T400 Pro and it lasted < 1 year before it literally melted down and then bloated LOL. What a waste! A few months ago, I got a Hitec RDX2 Pro which is quite the machine, but the LCD reminds me of something from the 90s and the push and hold button is annoying. I know GensAce is a premium brand so, I just got this one. A far cry from my first R/C charger, the Protech 702. Those were the days!
You been pretty happy with the Gen's Ace? I really have no complaints other than the stupid EC5 connectors being way too tight..... I can only get the tip of the LIPO connector in (story of my life lol). It chargers fine but isn't ideal. I still use a Turnigy Accuel6 but it is good for what it is. Not nearly as fancy or powerful as the Gens Ace, but it still gets the job done when I need it!
@@BriansRCStuff well i just ordered directly from them. You know these Chinese they do these coordinated TH-cam launches where 50 different channels all at once bomb the community. It works. I was like ok, I’ll bite. 🤣🤣🤣
Gens ace the " premium company" is a Chinese company . China builds the best gear. Obviously. Apple, Milwaukee power tools. Sky rc Hota all made in China
I’m brand new to all of this. But how did you know to bring it down to 6.1 amps to charge the battery? I’ll be charging a 6s Gens ACE 6800 120c….would I be charging that at 6.1 as well? Thanks in advance
You could charge it at 6.1 but 6.8 amps would be a 1C charge rate. All that 1C means is you are charging at a rate that will charge the battery in 1 hour if it is totally empty (if the actual capacity is what the manufacture claims.... but a charger will taper down the amps as the LIPO is almost full so it isn't so hard on the battery so in reality it would take more than an hour lol). So if you have a 5,000mAh (5,000 mAh = 5 amps) LIPO, 1C is 5 amps. 2C is 10amps. For a 2,000 mAh LIPO, 1C is 2amps. Most LIPOs are happy to charger at 1C rate (charging at a higher rate can reduce the life of a LIPO). Most LIPOs say you can charge at 2C or even higher, but I always charge at 1C as if you are starting at storage voltage (about half charge, it will only take about 40 min or so which isn't too bad). Hopefully that helps! If not let me know.

@@BriansRCStuff yes, I was hoping it can do 16A on a 4s battery, on one channel, this is about 280W, but you said it can only do 150W on one channel, which means on 4s it can only do less then 10A, very disappointing
@@ronniezhou5276 I never charge at more than 1C so it is plenty strong for me but I get it, if you need serious power sadly this isn't your best option. On DC it is much more powerful (or that is what I recall reading) but I never tried it.
@@BriansRCStuff yes, on dc it can do 700W, but I already have icharger406, which can do 1400W on dc, only downside is I must bring the bulky power supply to use that charger, I always do 20A on each channel, the only selling point of this D300 for me is convenience, no need power supply, just plug in and play, but anyway, really appreciate your information buddy!

How would you charge a transmitter or receiver battery with a JR / JST end?
@@MyKonaRC you could just replace one of connectors on one of the charging leads.
So go from XT60 (charger) to the tiny flat JST end (battery)?
I looked up XT60 to JST, and it would be possible.

Mine puts my 4s battery in storage at 0.9a, is that as high as it can go for a 4 cell?
Yeah, it is going to be slow to discharge 4s. At 3s it will discharge around 1.2 amps and at 2s 1.7 amps. 6s would only be around .6 amps!
