I am particularly fond of Ys VIII. I had no prior experience with the franchise but was able to dive straight in no problem. Excellent story, engaging characters, beautiful environments to explore, a polished combat system, and there's even a sequel on its way! I also have a special place in my heart for Hyper Light Drifter for its colorful yet somber atmosphere, fast-paced combat that rewards skill and precision, and a large pixelated world that full of secrets.

You'll love Ys Origin too! Awesome game that fully holds up on it's own. The last game in the older pseudo-isometric style. Had it on PC and prob getting it again for Switch
Ive been wanting to get theDarksiders series on Switch since I am a huge fan, fascinating to hear the original cartoon Joker voicing in Darksiders.
Rune factory 4 is one of my favorite games ever for sure, definitely recommend 👌🏽

When I first bought my Switch I wasn't actually planning on buying BOTW since I thought it was overrated. but my brother and I considered purchasing when there was a sale which included the expansion pass. And I fell in love with it when I started playing it! I haven't even finished the game and I'm already thinking about starting over once I'm finished. The visuals are awesome and the sense of adventure is incredible! Definitely became one of my all time favorite games.
Such a great game! I remember my brother got a Switch before me because of the whole scalper thing, and I played BOTW on his, and it was so fun! That was the first game I bought when I got mine!😁
I had the opposite experience. I just bought my switch about 6 weeks ago with BOTW being the main reason I got it as I was a big Zelda fan during the N64 era. I put about 5-6 hours in and I found the game annoying and unfun. I love open world games but found the breakable weapons dumb and the story not compelling enough for me. I do realize I’m 31 now and not 10-14 anymore so perhaps I just grew up into more adult games/content.
@@BenjaminDarlingMusic I'm as old as you but I have different opinion about BOTW. For me the game is superb and already beaten it with 200+ hours into it
@@fairytalesdied I can respect that, brother. I really wanted to like it. I even took a few days off and came back to it to give it another shot but it didn’t click for me. I’m shelving it for now and instead working my way through Darksiders Warmastered on switch and Jedi Fallen Order on Xbox one.

@@ummiedar8525 so is BotW, but it’s not only in the top ten, it’s number 1. Not that I’m complaining or anything. But this is a top ten RPG list. Zelda has never really been an RPG game

I think Astral Chain could make it to the list. I really like the unique combat system where you can control 2 characters at once, and it's visuals are top notch, one of the best on switch for me

Dragon’s Dogma is super awesome. The boss fights are epic.
That developers of that game did a really good job with making the combat movements feel realistic.
And still no sequel for nearly 10 years later.

I loved the first "Torchlight" but I played T2 right after "Hades" and it just wasn't as good as I'd hoped. I think it was coming off the "Hades-high". Action rpgs are my absolute favorite though. Playing "Dragon's Dogma" right now and thoroughly enjoying it.
Dying to get "Dragon's Quest Builders 2" but I can't justify spending more right now. Hoping it goes on a good sale soon.
Dqb2 is such an amazing game worth it. I would try and find a physical copy tho 👍

Immortals is a great game but after going from Ps4 Pro to Switch for portability reasons the performance was a much bigger let down for me than I thought unfortunately. With that said I enjoyed DQ11 on Switch 200% more than my ps4 copy for some reason.
Spiritfarer was amazing too. Took me nearly 20h though. Kinda long.
I just got the Diablo three on my switch and I got to say it’s one of the best game I’ve ever played on the switch, I love it because you can dock it on the TV or take it on the go and play it in handheld.
I'm waiting for my switch Oled to arrive and I think diablo will be the 2nd game I pick up after arceus
Love Diablo 3! My girl & I play hours-on-end. She’s a mage & I’m a crusader & we’re loving the co-op gameplay.
This game was released like 10 years ago and it's the same game as Diablo 2 which was released like 20 years ago. So the most notable game for a console I'm 2023 is a PC game from 20 years ago, sad.
@@david-Davidson what? its totaly different game, only common element is that is hack and slash both and same universum., but diablo II resurrected is still one of the best game ever. diablo III never was

I still don’t understand why they don’t bring amazing classics like Final Fantasy tactics/Vandal Hearts 1 and 2/Tactics Orge. If they can do Xcom 2 why can’t they do these??

Older Japanese composers especially are very restrictive about allowing their music to be used, and I don't think many developers had the foresight to future proof their copyright agreements back then.

I thought exactly the same, maybe the metacritic score is not good enough to be on the list. Such a great game and alongside Dragon's Dogma a great example of what action/rpg should be, others on the list not so sure

Actually excited about getting a switch. My last handhelds where the original DS and psp. Tho Skyrim is literally unplayable for me without mods. My game doesn’t even look or play like Skyrim anymore. Everything is better.

There's quite a few out there! That's actually a good Idea, I've bought a couple! Everspace, Starlinks, Warframe, The Outer Worlds, To the Moon.. all great titles you might be interested in!

Not sure why they didn’t include it, however Kingdoms of Amalur is a fantastic play, I highly recommend.
I will never not recommend Kingdoms of Amalur to people and I am so glad it’s given a second life on current-Gen consoles. Definitely a good game to play on the go.
It is my favourite Action-Rpg. And playing it handheld is just the best

I bought my Switch last October and picked up BOTW with it. 12-ish hours in and I moved on to other games. There is a lot to like about the game, and a lot of "meh". The broken gear mechanic is one of the biggest issues, and is just annoying with no purpose (from what I can see). I may return to the game as I want to try and push forward, but I just don't understand the love/hype for this game.
Yeah I loved the open world at first, but I wish there were at least some heavily populated cities despite that maybe not making sense plot-wise. I also would have preferred having more traditional dungeons as opposed to all those shrines to slog through
I agree with you there. I clocked about 20 hours on it before I stopped playing. It's a good and fun game but weapons felt like they broke waaay to frequently.
I agree with the world as well. I kind of felt like there was a lot of empty in it. I admired that they didn't just fill it wil filler sidequest stuff that open world games normally get but it felt a little too empty at times.
I honestly finished BOTW because i already started it, i didn't like it that much
I have to be in the mood for BOTW. That weapon damage mechanic kills it for me. I know they wanted to push for players to use different weapons but that's stupid. I dont like being forced into different playstyles. I have like 60 hours in but thats been over the course of about a year of off and on play.

me thinks you've put Hades in too many categories. action right, hack 'n slash, rogue-lite. (I think someone else added: arcade, sport, turn based deck builder with hints of a farming sim tossed in for good measure. i could be wrong about the rogue-lite part. could've been rogue-like. i get them confused sometimes.)

It's a really good game. Fun humor. Absolutely beautiful world. Very stylish combat. This video showed one of the dungeons. I played it on the series X. The first part is kinda meh but literally once u get to the main area, it's so beautiful. 60 hour game. Definitely worth it if you see it on sale

Darksiders II is more of a hack and slash with RPG elements, but it is still an awesome game from a widely slept on franchise.
