  • Thank you guys for checking out my channel and this video!
    I decided I’m tired of maintaining the platinum blonde life and wanted to shake things up with a rich red!
    Please let me know what you’d like to see me do next, or if you have any questions/comments regarding this video.
    Also after uploading I noticed the sound completely changed I am so sorry for the audio issues and have no idea what happened during the upload :(
    **I AM NOT A LICENSED HAIRSTYLIST OR COSMETOLOGIST - THIS IS JUST WHAT I DID. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ALTERING YOUR HAIR OR EXTENSIONS IN ANY WAY WITHOUT GUIDANCE FROM A PROFESSIONAL** ---forgot to mention in the video
    PROCESS:
    I started by doing some conditioning treatments on my hair the night before using the Matrix Biolage Conditioning Mask, Olaplex No. 3, and Be Care Love Leave in Conditioner.
    Next I filled my hair using the Colorful Products Neutral Protein Filler on damp hair for 20 minutes.
    Then I mixed the two red dyes with 10 volume developer and slathered it on. I left this on my hair for about 30 minutes, then washed and conditioned.
    While my hair was still damp, I mixed the brown-blonde dye with 10 volume developer and applied it all over my hair. I left this on for about 20 minutes and then washed and conditioned my hair, as well as leaving on Olaplex No. 3.
    After that I blow dried my hair and it was done! I will be applying another batch of red about a week from the day I dyed it to bring back some brightness.
    My extensions were about the same process, I just left the color on a little longer each time and let them hang dry for about 24 hrs before applying heat.
    I also used CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protecting Spray and Miracle 7 Extension Detangling Spray before applying any heat to my extensions.

    There must be something in the stars girl! I’ve been bleaching my own hair to a soft honey blonde and lighter for over four years and lately I’m obsessed over old pics of when I had garnet/ruby red. I just got done with the protein filler for 20 minutes and now I’m sitting here with the hair color on as I’m writing this. Fingers crossed we both turn out great.

    Looks amazing! Coming from a Hairdresser/Esthetician's point of view. It's great to see the different techniques people use to achieve beautiful hair colors. I will be going from a light blah blonde to Cinnamon blonde

    For real. I finally got the blonde I wanted, and like 2 weeks later, I was over it. I made an appointment for November (that way it’ll give me time to nurse my hair back to health it was like before). I told my hairdresser to pick any color she wanted and just surprise me. Can’t wait because this is just too much maintenance to keep it from turning yellow.

      I do not miss maintaining the blonde at all! Sometimes I miss the color, but rarely. Hope it goes well and good luck! 🤍

    I never thought to put light brown on top of red. I would think the other way around. Looks stunning. I know your hair is different now but this is beautiful as well.

      You would be correct. When going down more than 3 shades you need to use a filler color to replace the missing pigments removed by the lightener, and it gives the goal color something to grab onto. If trying to achieve a level 3-5 red from a level 9-10 blonde you should first apply a demiperm 6 or 7 N or NC then color the red on top of that. Red alone will give you clown hair, and adding the N or NC on top of the red will make it brown with weird show-through. You cannot lift color with color, so putting a lighter color dye on top of a darker dye is a waste of dye. This video is just a really creative way to add stain buildup to what's left of the hair's cortex which is already stripped and chemically damaged or else the length of her hair would not have had that limpness with the slight violet hue to it. At a certain point you either need to just stop messing with your hair, or seek advice from a professional or else the hair will just drop the color and/or break off.

    Love the Burgendy Hair. I'm a normally dish water blonde. But I Love Red hair. 💖 Too scared to do it at home though.😆 I Love it.

      Thank you! My advice - don’t do it at home! I have a whole video of me trying to remove the red once I was tired of it and let’s just say things didn’t go well, I now have a pixie cut 🙃

    You should’ve used magenta red and copper with a 30% lighter to lift it mix it all together

  • @saveamerica2896

    You look even prettier with the red. Looks so shiny. I have dark hair coming thru with blonde highlights. I want to cover my sporadic grey hairs coming thru but want to keep the blonde. Debating on dying entire head burgandy then taking coconut oil quickly after applying and stripping the blonde strands/pieces to at least keep that part lighter . Would be cool if they looked Maybe lavender. Or i can take purple shampoo to the lighter pieces and maybe the blonde would come back

    How often do you wash your extensions after dying them?

    • @BlaizeMcKennah
      @BlaizeMcKennah  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I try to wash them as little as possible. I wait until they either have too much buildup to style correctly, or I want to color them again. I don’t wear them daily either - maybe 1-2 times per week on average. I would say I wait at least 4 months between washes.

    Hey! I just want to know what happens after the red? Does it fade back to blonde? Does it permanently stain the hair???

    • @BrittanyMarie27
      @BrittanyMarie27 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Red is the hardest color to get out of your hair. The only way to completely get it out of your hair is to bleach it again. Or it’ll never go back to blonde

    • @BlaizeMcKennah
      @BlaizeMcKennah  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it permanently stained my hair. It did fade at first (since I was super blonde) and I kept applying red. Once I got tired of being a redhead I tried everything to get it out, at home techniques, color remover, bleach baths, bleach, then gave up and put dark brown over it. All the damage that caused forced me to cut off almost all of my hair. Anyway, moral of the story, once you go red you never go back 😅
