  • This is more than a pedal (although, yes, it is also a pedal): it is the genesis of an unmistakable sound, the singular vision of a person which would go on to become the seed of a company that has changed the sound of modern rock and metal bass.
    The B3K was the first pedal Douglas Castro made, and the reception he got from his friends gave him the encouragement to continue building and creating. Eventually he would found Darkglass Electronics...and now you know the rest of the story.
    Let's take a tour of the pedal that launched a thousand djents.

    Really appreciated the humorous but effective instructions in the demo ... but also the “back in the day “ photos 😆

    B7K and B7K Ultra (the one I own) next please! Despite there being many reviews of this classic line already out there, I need to hear your take. Your reviews are simply more thorough and your explanations of the controls are always very specific and helpful. As always, very well done! Hope your summer is going well!

    wow. I've never understood this pedal before. great explanations! seems like the smallest version still packs a punch! didn't know it behaved differently from what you expect.

      @AmosHeller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does! And still close enough to what you’re used to to get where you need to go-just not the way you’d expect.

    Awesome demo, as usual. I'd be very interested to see your take on another one of Darkglass classic pedals - Vintage Microtubes. Love it already, but always good to learn something new from the pro.

    Hey, this is a GREAT review - THANKS! LOVE the Darkglass stuff but I'm STILL not understanding the relationship of the DRIVE, LEVEL and BLEND controls on this particular pedal - the DRIVE knob determines the amount of drive, the LEVEL knob determines the amount of the drive signal being sent to the BLEND knob, and the BLEND knob feeds the DRIVE coming through LEVEL knob into the CLEAN sound, which is always at unity gain?

  • @FURAPANZA

    Awesome video! Were the sounds just from the bass an the pedal, or there was also an amp? Thanks

    Hi Amos, I doubt you'll see this but if you do I'd love a reply. As someone who owns the B7kU I'm curious how you feel about the mid boost button and tone knob compared to the attack switch of the B7k

    I’ve got a B7K Ultra. I dig it but sometimes I feel like I’m constantly trying to get a “warm” sound out of it. Maybe a demo of that?

    I really don't understand why the level controls only the dirty signal. What situation would that be preferable to having a master volume control, since you can already control how much dry or dirty signal you want? Having a master volume would accomplish the same thing and even morem. Can you explain what the benefit is?

    If you place a compressor in front, the pedal no longer sounds as in this video.

    • @AmosHeller
      @AmosHeller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @WilDBeestMF

      Sure it does. Actually, I can get more defined "crunch" out of this guy with compression in front.

    • @WilDBeestMF
      @WilDBeestMF 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can go to metal bass demo #8, #57 and #132 or any inbetween if you wanna hear the B3K in a metal mix. The pedal is extremely flexible and it is really nice at a low gain - I'm hoping more than just BROOTAL METAL guys get into it.

    Worlds worst pedal demo. Why on earth would you put ridiculous muzak drum machine mixed above the pedal. Not to mention stop talking just play the gear.

      Oddly, there is no content on YOUR page so that we could all benefit by learning what an expert like yourself might create.
      I don't think I have much content on my page either, but I'm not going around (metaphorically) taking a dump on people's doorstep.
