  • On our Norway coastal cruise on the Hurtigruten ferry, we experienced some of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful Norwegian landscapes. And between magical views, brown cheese, and nearly getting left behind by our boat, we managed to take in the Northern Lights, the Atlantic Road, and meet wonderful locals who treated us like family.
The Hurtigruten cruise in Norway isn't for everyone, but those who experience this tour from the north Atlantic town of Kirkenes down to the beautiful city of Bergen might just leave a piece of their soul behind so that a part of them can always call itself Norwegian.

Did the voyage a few, years back. It was fascinating, snd having a cabin on the best side of the ship we could really enjoy the port activities, so much local stuff going on.

Glad you loved it too! Having the room on the land side makes a big difference doesn’t it!?

Many familiar places to me, but I have been in those places with my camper van. One of my dreams is to get a Hurtigruten cruise some day.

@@WanderingWagars I live in Finland so Norway is quite easily reachable by car from here. I have travelled quite much around Norway and don't just get enough. My latest trip there was in last September when I drove to Vardø, the easternmost town of Norway. I saw one Hurtigruten ship sailing on the sea when I was there :)

@@oh2mp I’m so happy that you’re taking the time to explore your own country. Too often we forget what we’re blessed with close by.

I read in one of your articles you saw the Northern Lights 4 times, but it seems from the video that you had a ton of daylight. Can you share specifically what dates your cruise was? Thanks.

Absolutely. We were traveling in March. March has a great balance of longer days and dark nights, which is excellent if you want to combine exploring during daylight and nighttime.

Isn’t Svolvaer and Sortland lower than Tromso? I was in Tromso in May.

Hi, how many days cruise did you take? We are thinking of taking the 6 day express cruise. Do you have any absolute dos and don'ts? I really appreciated your video.

Hi Faith, we did the full one-way cruise from north to south.
We loved the Taste of Vesteralen tour. And, of course the spectacular northern lights show.

It hurts me as a swede to admit this since swedes and danes has tried to steal Norways thunder for such a long time: But vikings came orginally from Norway. This video proves it beyond any doubt. The fjords FORCED the vikings to make boats to be able to travel inside Norway crossing the hundreds of fjords in Norway. Sweden and Denmark are both without fjords - so there was no need to invent boats there. Your video just made me realize this fact.

We were on this cruise twice. Unfortunately, on the second cruise in Sept. of 2022 the cruise line had to switch ships at the last second because the original had a malfunction three days earlier and ran aground. We had nothing but buffet food the entire trip because the substitute ship was sitting waiting to be refurbished. Boring.

That’s a shame that your second trip turned out that way. How was your first?
