      Drills like taking ground balls and throwing like a SS are the best ways to learn to move athletically and fluidly on the mound imo

    • @legessi
      @legessi ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@StatusQ_also, lift. Do squats and deadlifts to build lower body and core strength. Do box jumps and split squats to develop explosive power.
      Stretch to increase your range of motion.
      Do forearm pronation and supernation excercise to develop the muscular and tendon support.
      Do long toss to develop arm strength and to get your lower body to help develop throwing power. Treat your throwing days like lifting days. Have long, lower effort days and shorter, high intensity days. Work on your mechanics to where you feel comfortable with your pitching style and you are using as much of your lower body as you can to generate throwing power.

    Keep him stiff…you can’t undo over 20 years of genetic makeup. Put in a series of fulcrums and keep him stiff. If someone tried to loosen up Justin Verlander nobody would know who he is. Bodies move differently, train to your genetics.

    If all these pitching coaches are so good today, how come over 50% of the pitchers spend time on the DL, can’t go deep into games, and can’t smell 20 wins?

    • @treadathletics
      @treadathletics  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pitcher wins aren't exactly a stat that should be used to determine how good pitching coaches are. Or how good pitchers are in general.

      @@sun6262-that's mostly cause their trying to compensate for either poor strength or poor mechanics, perhaps poor layback (movement of elbow during throw). Having a guy who can throw 90 effortlessly move more violently can build more velo tho. But typically if your moving like that it means you are max effort. Which shouldn't be the case in most scenarios

    I like seeing the number hit 98 even 100, but honestly we should stop making pitchers hit those numbers every time they throw a pitch. We are blowing out our pitchers arms and then not seeing them for a year max after they have Tommy John. It’s sad to see, there will be more injuries these years that follow. And the point of a pitcher is to fool the batter with different pitches not just a 105 fastball, love seeing those nasty curves and filthy knuckleballs which has been lost in time cause every pitch got to be faster then the last nowadays.

    • @Diogenes-ty9yy
      @Diogenes-ty9yy 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Agreed. These young men seem to be throwers rather than pitchers. Pitching is a skill that demands more than throwing each fastball as hard as you can. How can you keep a batter guessing if most of your pitches are straight fastballs? Where are the changeups, the slow curves? Where have all the knuckleball pitchers gone? SMH...

    This guy throws exactly the same way i did early in high school, ¾ arm with a long throwing motion. It's great for movement on a fastball and change-up but not much else. Once I figured out how to bend my elbow more, reach behind my ear and compact my throwing motion it gave me so much more control. Not just pitch placement but the ability to control my ball spin.

    Wow. "Stiff" was the very first thing I thought too. Maybe because I was always a fan of Jim Palmer as a kid because of his smooth effortless motion. I was thinking how nice this pitcher could be getting tips by watching Mike Musina...(Just my former minor league player observation). Love your shot vids!

      Watching Mike Mussina pitch for the O’s really helped my pitching career. Mostly copying his knuckle curve - my deuce was garbage before that.

      @@BelovedChatter Less wear on the arm. I learned it by accident in high school. The first time I threw it, my coach ran out of the dugout because he thought I'd broken my arm! The only reason I did not pitch is because I had a little speed and hit .454 in college...(JUCO All-America) Not a guarantee but at least I tasted the tea of my dream. Stay well my friend and thank you!
