    Hi, everybody! I'm Ra, from New Zealand. I've been interested in pyrography for years, and now that I'm 60 it's time for a new hobby and learning new skills. My wood burning tools are still in transit, so that means everything at this point is research! Lol. I've just subbed, and I'm looking forward to learning new things!

    Thank you SO much for taking the time to illustrate the different uses for each tip, as well as to make the distinction between brands. You saved me hours and hours worth of mistakes. I can't wait to get started.

    I just got a Pyro set for Christmas, I’ve only taken it out of the box and looked to make sure everything is there, so not used it yet. Came to get some inspiration from TH-cam l watched a few videos and none stood out. Then I saw this video and can I say within a few minutes I was comfortable I knew what you were saying and you knew what you were on about too. Lol You helped me out tons and I appreciate this “long” video. Now I need a scrap of wood to practice and do exactly what you did to get comfortable with my new tool. Wish me luck (I’m a lefty and never got on with fountain pens so just hope I don’t have the same trouble with this!) Thank you so much, I am excited to give it a go tomorrow. ❤

    Great and informative video. I predominately do signs and I have come to love the rounded skew tip for Razertip to outline, it helps me to get some pretty good crisp lines even on rounded letters. Recently I've started using a lazy susan when I am working on a piece, makes it easier to shift the piece around while working. The writing tip is my go-to for filling in letters using your line technique, that is probably 98% of how I fill in letters. Thank you for sharing and God bless!

      Oooo! A lazy susan is an awesome idea! I like the rounded skew too; it makes turns much easier.

    This video is EXACTLY what I needed! I got the two burner wire tip set a short time ago from my brother. I made Christmas gifts but honestly didn’t know how- make sense? I can’t wait to get going on wood burning and practice the things you covered here. Thank you so much!

      In my view, no harm in using transfer paper and a stencil. I'm new to the transfer paper process with much of anything, so will probably practice with a few non-pyro projects that would require transfer paper. 😅 Especially as I don't have a Cricut -- yet. 😅

    I had to make some signs recently, and those signs were too big for my laser cutter. so then I hand drew signs for 8 hours. argh.
    I used ta real fine tip for most of it. but then, after about 6 hours that tip was spent. all burned out. tired sanding it, that didnt work for long. I havent done much wood burning in the last 15 years, since I got a laser cutter. All I really remeber is running fast and hot, and get stuff done. Its nice to have an overview of tips and styles, I never knew any of that. I just have a brass wood burning kit, and my soldering iorn. when I saw those wire tips in action, I knew thats what I should be using. oh well, my signs are done...
    Hey, how long do you get out of your tips?
    and what do you do when they turn black with resin?

    • @Pyrocrafters
      @Pyrocrafters  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My tips have lasted a very long time. In all these years of burning (7 - 8) I have only burned up one tip. And I burn on high heats a lot. I think keeping a lighter pressure when your pressing your tip to the wood helps it last longer.
      And as for the buildup on the tips; now i use a leather strop with an metal polishing compound to help clean them. They are never as shiny as they are when I first buy them, but it does help them glide across the wood easier.

    very nice , would this work the same on hardwoods ?

    • @Pyrocrafters
      @Pyrocrafters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hardwoods are more challenging to burn in general, but some burn nicely. It really depends on which one you’re interested in.

    Just a quick question.... do you use sandpaper or a cleaner to clean the tips as you're going for the brass tips Because I feel like I'm doing more sanding then burning lol

    what type of kit would I buy to get all the tools that you have?

    • @Pyrocrafters
      @Pyrocrafters  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These are several kits I’ve acquired over time. There’s not one kit where all these exist all together. I believe I’m showing the Colwood Super Pro, Razertip P80, Optima Dual pen, Burnmaster Eagle, and my Truart Dual Pen.
