you are 100% right on those 8.75s , im a larger skater but do more street skating and flip tricks and i thought it would be better to have a larger board but they break so much faster. sticking with 8.5 and 14.50 wheelbase
As someone who is 6'8" and a size 13, I've been on bigger boards for a while. I used to be against it, but all my skate buddies finally wore me down. The funny thing is that I skate 8.75 to 9 depending on what's available, and even a 9 with a 14.75 wheelbase looks like a super standard sized board when I'm the one standing on it haha
Hice t shirt dude, and thanks a lot for you points about deck size, i am abiut to complete 1 year back o skating and since i loved from 7.75 to and 8.0 my tricks are going better, stability and less more falls! Now i am thinking about size it up to and 8.25 ...letss seee
Good video. There isn't many videos that can give a recommendation on what board to get when you're up in like size 12, so this was very helpful. Im just buying my first skateboard ever and i'm size 13, so yea.
I skate 8.25 at the moment 5’10 size 11. I have an 8.5 and an 8.38 but those trucks are independents and they are so dang heavy. Once I get really used to this 8.25 ill probably size up to a 8.38. I really want my balance and all my tricks to be dialed in on the narrower board so when I go to a wider one ill be way more comfortable
Thanks Norman for the informative video. I am also not a small 186 cm 100 kg (powerlifter) I ride 8.5 for slides, 8.38 and 8.25 for studying flips. but I like boards with a wheelbase of 14.25, and I like the length of 31.75 to a maximum of 32 inches. although initially I liked wider bases. do you think it 's better with a big height and wide shoulders of 14.5 boards ?
I do think it’s better to have the extra wheel base. However, if you aren’t skating handrails or gaps/stairs it doesn’t matter as much. 14.25 is fine for ledges, flatground, or anything lower impact.
Thanks man, I’m wanting to start skating again. I use to wheh I was a kid. I’m a little older now. I’m broke as a 16 year old. Do you have any good suggestions on where to buy a good board?
Im 13 5.2 but i got size 8.5 shoes. I skate a 7.75 but it feels very skinny and most of the time when i do a trick i just land with my heels touching the ground. Im thinking about getting a 8.125 because i mostly just cruise around and i can easily do a double kickflip on my 7.75
I’ve been skating a size 8 and like it well enough with standard thunders. Would you suggest I move up to an 8.125 if I skate thunder hollows? I’m only 5’6 with a size 8 shoe. I skate mostly flat, hips, ledges, manuals pads, and low impact.
@@NormanWoods ok thanks. Yes, you are right that even that 1/8 of an inch increase feels heavier which is why I was considering hollow trucks. The wheelbase is 14 inches on the 8.125. It feels different in a good way. Less height on my tricks, but more compact.
Hey man, great video. I’m picking up a new deck after taking years off. I have a size 9.5 shoe and always rode a 7.75 back in the day cause that was the norm back then. I never felt very stable on that size. Should I pick up a 8 or 8.25?
Ask yourself how unstable you feel on your board. If it's a lot, then maybe an 8.25. If it's just a little, then maybe 8 or 8.125. Or better yet, ask a friend or someone you're friendly with at a skate park and ask to ride their board for sec to get a feel for different sizes. Personally I wear size 9 and I skate an 8.25.

Your right man your shoulder width plays a huge part
you got the best music taste bro
Thank you, sir 🙏🏾
Yes love the shirt!
We have the same watch … good choice sir 🎉

What size trucks do you ride on those boards?
@@StationaryRocketFlipChampion 161 thunder hollows
Damn! 6’8” is tall. You need that long wheelbase.
Good tips. I will keep them in mind. 👍

I wear 13's as well, so I feel your pain. I have always went 8.0 but am about to size up to 8.5 myself.

Grab some ACE hollows! That’ll fix the weight issues.
@@NormanWoods Ace oh wow, ill give those a go, never had hollow trucks im excited to try
Indy has a slayer hallow aswell, or you can completely go crazy with weight and grab some tensor magnesium light

@@NormanWoods that makes so much sense. Very informative.👍👍

If you’re still looking for one go to ccs. Always been reliable since i was a kid🔥
Hey Norman, thanks for the video! I wanted to ask how tall you are to gauge board sizes for myself? Thanks!
6’2” in shoes. 12 shoe.
@@NormanWoods Thank you!

Damn my shoe size is 9.5 and I got to have a 6.75 tail, 14.5 wheelbase and don’t really care about the nose size. 8.375 to 8.625 is my sweet spot
I use a 8 1/2 shoe size what's the best size for for me for street skating?

You’ll probably be fine with the same size. The weight will feel a lot different at first. But you should be able to get used to it.

@@davidfrey08 thanks man. Went with a 8.25 and now on a 8.3. Love the size.
What shoes are those in the thumbnail?
Converse Cons one star pro
Thx
You’re welcome!
I’m a size 13 and I got a size 9.0 with a 14.25 wheelbase and I feel like it works
Massive board. Gonna be tougher to learn flip tricks with. But, the ollies, grinds and transition must feel amazing.
With the short wheelbase it flips like a dream
How to ollie mann..
Size 9 shoe, and would still ride 7.75
That works for you shoe size.
Damn homie a citified G in the deck 😮💨
🙏🏾🙏🏾👊🏾
Me with my 8.8-9" board....
That’s massive my man
@@NormanWoods Ahah yeah I am kinda tall (6.4) with 12 feet size, anything below 8.5 feels like a pocket skateboard to me ahah
Just sized down from 8.5/9.0 to 7.75 after 10 years
