Once you realize that falling is inevitable and wont kill you your horizons will widen tremendously. Look at Fetty and Vinnie they eat it constantly because they fully commit yet they are better because of it.
Aubrey Baker. The reason Hes scared of falling is because Hes an older man skateboard is way much easier when you start at young age cus falling is less much painful when you fall when your older its way much more painful so that is the problem with lance scientifically he is progressing like he should either hell outcome the fear of actually committing and get less chances to get hurt or stairs won't be his thing and stick to ledges and tec I think either is tight but the badass thing he ain't tryna be pro or nothing he sounds like he has aloha fun just skating and learning knew tricks and that's what its about
I'm a beginner at 50! Thanks for the inspiration Braille! I have messed around on a 7.75, 8 and 8.38. I can't ollie or kick flip YET, but I noticed a huge difference in weight and ease in which you can flick the board 180(like a no comply flick) when using my 7.75 and 8. Sure the bigger boards have more surface area to land on but they are harder to flip around. I had an 8.5 last summer when I just started and it felt like a tank so I moved down to my 8. Just skate what feels good and keep pushing! p.s. Increments of an eighth to a quarter of an inch is not much but it IS all about feel.

It has been really cool to see the growth of Lance over the course of all the videos I've watched. Not going to lie, it has made me feel infinitely better about coming back to skating after a 20 year break.
@05:46 ‘whole foot can slide up the board’ .... the boards are the same length (32inch) so doesn’t make any difference, I skate 8.0 for the double flips.. 8.25 is a little heavy
@@stareintoabyss I tried for a bit. But I was heavy. So falling hurt. And I work with my hands. Getting old sucks. Well. Responsibility sucks. But on the plus side. I did manage to land a kick flip. So it wasn't all lost
it all depends on personal preference and play style people with at least size 10 feet are comfortable with 8+ inch deck boards below 8 inch are easier to flip and higher than 8 inch is easier to ollie up or down stuff
Ok bro, thank you for makin'the vid & sharing your personal experience.. I personally prefer wider, just works with MY style of skateboarding: shuv its , big ollie's, 180s and just cruisin' sidewalks, hills, pump tracks

well this video was a few days ago, but it fits my thoughts on board width's of today. I've been skating from 1992-2004 and then quit until two weeks ago at age of 41. Back in the days I never thought about anything like high or low trucks, 7.75, 8 or even wider decks........ pretty helpful to think about more on the physics of all this. AARON IS MY HERO!! you guys make me not feel so bad about getting back into skating after not skating for 5-6 years. definitely gotta get my groove back, but seeing as how you can make a video and you're not the greatest(no offense!), makes me feel more confident in myself! I also skate an 8.25-8.5. my backups an 8.25 and my main is a 8.50. try an 8.5 cause you'll notice and feel the difference better than going up just a quarter of an inch. thank you guys for the videos! keep skating fun!
I've thought about moving from 8.0 to 8.25 for the same reasons as you, Lance (size 11, 6'1" also). Wish i could get a new setup for free to try out the difference, lol! Maybe when my 8.0 wears out, I'll pick up a new build in 8.25 and see how it goes. Guess I won't need new wheels and bearing at least. #skategod #olliethe5
I'm only 5'10 and I have 3 boards 7.75, 8 and I'm pre sure a 8.5 but not super sure as it's older but much prefer the larger board. It's more exhausting to pop and the flicks and spins are slower and easier to control. But now if I try to skate the 8 I end up doing triple Shuvs and flips because of the weight differance and being so used to shuving harder or kicking harder.
I have skated for a year and a half now and I didnt skate anything other than an 8.0. Then, like Lance i thought an 8.25 would be easier and it made everything so much harder. so i switched to a 7.75 and i will only skate that size now. it made tricks so much easier.
you technically don't have to get new trucks if you're switching from an 8 to an 8.25, if your trucks are size 8 axle that is. its not gonna be too small
I used to skate an 8.0 and try treflips. Then I switched up to 8.25 and I could treflip the same so idk if it’s just me. I think that there’s not much of a difference between 8.0 and 8.25 because it’s just a quarter inch bigger. Anyway there is a guy who does 360 triple flips on an 8.25 so I don’t really think there’s a big diffrence
A little tip, try keeping your back more upright when you jump. When you lean forward, you tend to jump off the board. You're killing it though! Keep it up, man!
I'm a size 13 and I ride a 8.5 size deck. its the most common size in my area of Canada because of control and more space to land. I find it easy to do tricks on.
Thanks a lot for these videos, very helpful. I switched from 8.0 to 8.5 and really enjoy it, because of the added space for landing tricks and better comfort while cruising. I would even like to try a 8.75 or 9.0 And you should do more VS videos. It would be great to have a small vs big wheels, and soft vs hard wheels
I bought a 7.25 because I thought it would be easier to control but it was my biggest $100 mistake. I should’ve gone with 8.25 especially as im a size 10 and just want to ride
Common acceptance is a thinner board will flip easier. Using a wider board is a little better for transition or half pipe skating. It all depends on foot size and preference though. Go to your local skate shop and stand on multiple sizes before picking for your skate style and preference

I'm 37, and a little over 200 lbs, broad shoulders 6 foot tall.... my point, is we gotta upgrade as we get bigger to feel as stable. When you get a job and work hard for 20 years, you get a lot of shoulder and back muscles that make you top-heavy, which makes you want to widen your stance after jumping some steps. This requires a 34"-35" long board about 8.25. Pro- you feel a lot more stable jumping gaps. Cons- it requires more power to get good pop on a 35" long board Then you start wanting the lightest tricks and wheels to balance all that out. So Question???? What is the STRONGEST LIGHTEST setup possible on a 34"+ board? I'm willing to pay more $$ as opposed to giving up skateboarding and just longboarding instead
It’s just a confidence thing, i have a size 11 shoe as well, and if I’m skating like flat or just basic box and flat at I can skate skate an 8 super easy, but if I’m cruising around a park that has some gaps and hubbas or down rails, an 8.25 gives me more confidence to land on my board, I can still do it with an 8, I just feel it’s a little harder and scarier

To me I think if your more the kind of street skater that does tricks into grinds and lots of flat ground a 8.0 or 7.75 is good but if you like to skate vert a little and skate stairs of do tricks of of stuff 8.25 or 8.5 is good for that I just switched from 8.0 to 8.25 and the 8.25 has helped with my style as vert and stuff
I just came to say I haven't skateboarded in a couple of years but randomly today I decided to get on and thanks to there being a 360 flip tutorial 2.0 by Braille I was able to land one for the first time ever even though I took a hiatus after skating for years
@LANCE >>>>> I think you need to practice your flip tricks either standing still or actually moving a little faster. it looks to me like when you kick the heel flip your kick action is throwing the board out in front of you or your body is moving faster than the board is moving. keep in mind you and the board need to be going the same speed when you pop the keep your board under your feet. that's why you keep landing with your front foot off. keep it up though man your doing a lot better. I always found the wider the board the harder all flip tricks will be. wider boards are really good for transition skating or jumping big stairs.
Personal opinion of mine might be a fact based on physics but with smaller trucks compared to board width it seems easier to do flip tricks over trucks that match the width almost perfectly. Smaller trucks I think would also make 50/50 and smith's more difficult I think also.
I know I'm a few years late but I'm 29 now and grew up skating on and off when nobody really went above a 7.75 unless they skated mostly transitions. Getting back into it again and figuring out the 7.75 is just too narrow (6'1 size 11). Just ordered a 8.25 to see if it helps out
Hey so what's your review a month on? I'm just getting back into skating too, used to skate like 10 years ago (i'm also 29) but mainly just cruising and the occasional ollie/shove. Looking to actually try and learn tricks and get half decent this time around. My aim is to get a solid kickflip down and ollie into some easy grinds, then go from there!
Curious, just today I was thinking to switch from a 8.0" to a bigger one. It can help me on landing, but the fear is that maybe it results more difficult to pop. Anyone experience?
Im a beginner skater and I just bought a 8.25 board im really small in height and in shoe size, am I gonna be able to do all tricks an 8 board can do? is there a noticeable difference and feel in between an 8 and a 8.25?
I'm not very good, but I definitely feel like it's more preference than directly related to like foot size or whatever. I'm a size 14-15 shoe and moved from an 8.5 to an 8.0 and like it better.

Me and my friend were skating earlier today and i have an 7.25 and he has an 8.25. Its do much easier to ride on his but his trucks are too low to me. I might switch to an 8
I don't know anything about skateboarding, and maybe its all preference, but if you're getting better... wouldn't you go for a thinner board? (and it seems like lance has been improving)
you dont necessarily have to switch to bigger trucks if you're going from an 8 to 8.25 8 trucks on an 8.25 isn't abnormal. i ride 8.0 suspension trucks on an 8.25 hookups. i kinda wish lance would've used the suspension trucks too, its just so fitting of him to
Okay so I bought an 8.25 deck but my setup on my last board was 8.0. Can I use 8.0 trucks on an 8.25 deck? Will I have a lot of wheel bite if I do? Should I save up the extra $45 for new trucks?
See a better way to accurately test them side by side you need to have a 10-20 minute break between landing a trick to going up board size because then you are almost basically starting from a "no warmup" each time!
Ill be honest! Skating an 8.25 and having your better beginner flip trick being a heelflip, heelflips quite hard on an 8.25 compared to an 8.0.. I noticed it when I made the switch.. I could still do them but I completely lost fakie heelflips! Dont give up on the 8.25, after sometime it'll seem normal and its much more satisfying wacking it down! Peace!
I can do kickflip with 8.25inch board more more better than 8.125inch but i think the test are often with other trucks rolls etc... And thats make the difference

*zooms in on lance's cheery face*
"Well both boards are still skateboards."
Still miss your Avenue trucks Lance! ;-)
I’ll probably go with an 8, since I’m 14 and 5’5 and probably will grow. I have a size 39 (EU) so it won’t be handy if I buy a 8.25> board.
Personal opinion of mine might be a fact based on physics but with smaller trucks compared to board width it seems easier to do flip tricks over trucks that match the width almost perfectly. Smaller trucks I think would also make 50/50 and smith's more difficult I think also.
Self care is watching Lance set up decks
Where do you suggest buying a new skateboard?
Is a 8.3 instead of 8.2 a big difference
Curious, just today I was thinking to switch from a 8.0" to a bigger one. It can help me on landing, but the fear is that maybe it results more difficult to pop. Anyone experience?
Im a beginner skater and I just bought a 8.25 board im really small in height and in shoe size, am I gonna be able to do all tricks an 8 board can do? is there a noticeable difference and feel in between an 8 and a 8.25?
I knows it’s been 3 years but how was it man thinking about ordering a 8.25 myself
Did you guys get a new camera? video looks great either way.
I'm not very good, but I definitely feel like it's more preference than directly related to like foot size or whatever. I'm a size 14-15 shoe and moved from an 8.5 to an 8.0 and like it better.
I love to see lance skate keep it up👍
Lance is really good in front of the camera. Good episode.
VIDEO IDEA: __Mario Kart Attacks__
Can you skate while??
(Mario Kart Squid Oils The Screen) = Goggles with oil on them.
(Mario Kart Banana Slicks) = Skate while running over bananas.
(Turtle Shells Thrown) = Skate while people throws some kind of shell.
VIDEO IDEA: __Fishing For Skaters__
Can you skate while??
You guys try to stop some one from finishing a skate line by using fishing rods with various props on them to stop skater.
(Maybe toys or something and cast them out at the skater)
VIDEO IDEA: __Strobe Light Skating__
Can you skate while??
Try to complete some kind of goal while using strobe lights.
(Pitch black while in the rave mode!! Maybe some intense music and glow sticks)
(Points taken for best rave skater!)
VIDEO IDEA: __Break Through It__
Can you skate while??
Try to break through a sheet of dry wall?
A thin wall of saran wrap?
A wall of aluminum foil?
Awesome videos Brailler Bro.
AYEE BEST CHANNEL EVERRRRRRR
Is the 8.25 longer?
I love when lance makes a serious video
Good call on the rebate troy!
I love that lance skates Aaron's boards
Me and my friend were skating earlier today and i have an 7.25 and he has an 8.25. Its do much easier to ride on his but his trucks are too low to me. I might switch to an 8
I don't know anything about skateboarding, and maybe its all preference, but if you're getting better... wouldn't you go for a thinner board? (and it seems like lance has been improving)
I got 3 8s, an 8.25, an 8.5 and a 10. Which one I prefer changes depending on the day.
My first board was an 8.0 and I just recently got a new 8.25
And is it better than an 8 en why?
Lucas Bien I mean it’s easier in ways, you get more stability when riding/landing a trick. As well as having more foot space to work with
you dont necessarily have to switch to bigger trucks if you're going from an 8 to 8.25
8 trucks on an 8.25 isn't abnormal. i ride 8.0 suspension trucks on an 8.25 hookups.
i kinda wish lance would've used the suspension trucks too, its just so fitting of him to
Okay so I bought an 8.25 deck but my setup on my last board was 8.0. Can I use 8.0 trucks on an 8.25 deck? Will I have a lot of wheel bite if I do? Should I save up the extra $45 for new trucks?
That Aaron deck is sick!
Peace!
Bigger board is more surface area to land on and more stability. Narrower board flips faster and is also a bit lighter.
8.5 all day baby
Guys I’m 6 foot 2 size 13 mainly wanna do flat ground tricks should I ride a 8.0, 8.12 or 8.2
Should i skate a shaped board
I can do kickflip with 8.25inch board more more better than 8.125inch but i think the test are often with other trucks rolls etc... And thats make the difference
