This defiantly applies to manuals too. I’ve been doing a lot of manual tricks and it is so important to pop with specific foot positions in order to control the pop height. Going too high and slamming down on the pad makes balancing so much harder vs popping just high enough to be stable as soon as your wheels touch. Foot position is everything in my opinion when it comes to this one.

Oh buddy! I still have trouble with this flipping into certain manuals. Tre flip nose manny and switch heel manny. It takes me at least a dozen tries to start controlling the pop.

This is definitely very good advice. Especially on rails. I feel like on hubbas and ledges you can get away with a lot more

So true. Hubbas are much more forgiving.

Thank you Norman I appreciate all of your advice, I took a really nasty slam last week, full speed Ollied a small gap, back wheels caught and you know the rest, didn’t even expect it. Happened so fast I couldn’t even put my arms out. No pain no gain, i’m progressing better at 43 years old and I ever did at 16 🤙🏼😎🙏🏻

Oh man! Speedy recovery. I’ve had a few of those in my time on the board. Always the ones you don’t see.

This video brings back memories of watching Daniel Haney absolutely eat it trying to 50-50 huge rails back in the day. Always wondered if dudes like that had a method back then or just rolled the dice like you said.

Oh man. I remember watching Haney’s wild attempts. What a time in skateboarding!

The exact problem that kept me away from slides for years

    • @NormanWoods

I struggled with it on grinds and slides too. 50-50 on rails was so tough. Didn’t realize my Ollie was consistently a foot higher than it should be. Once I learned to control it, a switch was flipped, and they became a lot easier.

Perfect timing? Just landed my first 3 fs5050 on a roundbar today. Every make was cross locked the wrong way, toesdide on the back and heelside on the front. Gonna try to get them properly tomorrow

Congratulations! I still feel tentative trying them. Even if I land 10 of 10. It’s a fun trick!

my issue is I naturally pop intentionally to give myself more time to catch or prepare to catch my board or to bail. But I pop too high for more complex flip tricks and I cant help it. I pop too high on laser flips and treflips too the point its damn near at my hips. People say try doing it off boxes and that pop gets even higher any help?
