Maybe for your next board you can look for the same width but go for a slightly shorter length. You wouldn't have to change your trucks since it's the same width. Sometimes you can find them a little shorter. I'm 5'6" so I've even looked for shorter boards within the same width and have found it helps. Good luck! -Kevin
I'm 5'5", 120 lbs, shoe size 6.5. I prefer smaller width boards because the length is shorter. It's harder to do tricks with longer boards. I'm a bit disappointed that skateboard manufacturers don't offer 7.75 in shorter lengths. Some do but I don't like the designs very much.

Standard sized boards go all the way down to 7.5. We call them kid sized but that’s what we were all riding back in the 90s. You should be able to find some completes in that size for sure. Decks might be harder to come by

6’1, 245 lb body builder / strongman with 10.5 shoe size. Used to ride 7.75 but thinking I need at least an 8’ now. Any suggestions? Skated in the early 2000’s, want to get back in to it. Mini ramp, grinds, slides, basic flip trucks. Are Elements still good? Loved the Fiberlites. Element always had great pop & strength.
Check out the Powell Flight deck. It’s carbon fiber reinforced so it’s super strong. For size I would say 8.25 would be good for extra stability maybe even 8.5 but that’s a lot wider than a 7.75 that you were used to. 8.25 is right in the middle so you can size up or down without changing trucks

ii_Wxlter decks 7.5” and up are all about the same from 30-32” long, usually wider ones are on the longer side. But the length isn’t as important as the width which is the primary dimension. Boards under 7.5” are usually a bit shorter, around 26” long, good for a much shorter skater. Hope that helps!

The smaller the board you learn things on the more precise and better technique you will have. So if you want a trick on lock long term go small enough it challenges you. Bonus is better turning which is vital on the street unless you're a juvenile ass-egoist. While learning less likely to do the splits or body by getting planted on board while balance off. More likely to stress ankles as foot half off or so far to one side the board angles and stalls. I prefer an ankle sprain to a hammy or body and if you ride enough your ankles will be strong enough to bounce back. 6+ cruising 7.5+ tricks 8.375+ stairs 8.5+ bowls 9+ ramps and now surf skates

Honestly not too much difference between those sizes but if you start with a a 8.38 you can decide for your next board if you wanna size up or down to a 8.5 or 8.25. I like to try little changes to see what works best

If you don’t mind standing on an 8.25 I would go with that since it will be easier to maneuver starting out. You can always size up down the road if you wanna see what an 8.5 feels like. (And the same trucks should be fine for a 0.25 inch change). Enjoy!

if ur having trouble popping tricks then yes, go the nearest 7.5 or 7.3 and if u have a skate shop near u its always good to ask. If it doesnt bother u 8.25 then its all preference,

7.75" will flip faster...8" will flip slower but feel steadier to cruise on.

im 4 feet 11 inches and im thinking of getting an 8 but idk if that is good enough and how do you measure your board because i already have one and im thinking of measuring it so i can get that size
Measure the width edge to edge with a ruler or tape measure. 7.75 or 8” should be good

As a beginner at that height you’re probably better off with an 8

oof u would be around 7 or 7.25, or even possible even lower, u would need to go to a skate shop and ask what boards fits u

I just turned 14 a week ago and I’m 4’11 and size 6 in women and I really wanna get into skating so I’m a beginner so what size board should I get cos I got an 8’ and it felt so big for me so what inch and length wise board should I get
well in that case u couldve gone around 7 -- 7.75 , if u have a skate shop near u its best to go and ask if u can step on the boards to see what u like, if not then get a 7.3 or a 7.5

I'm 21 my shoe size is 10, a friend gave me a 7.5 deck but it's my first time skating, is it good or bad?
7.5 is probably gonna feel a bit narrow. You might be better off with a 8 or 8.25 eventually but to get started a 7.5 is better than nothing!
