This is so timely as Quincy has started marking! Using the attention noise has so many uses, and I am so happy it's a game we play frequently. I have to admit it did cross my mind to use it, and now I shall! Thanks so much guys

My 6 year old male had parvo as a baby and wasn't ready to be neutered or potty trained until about 9 mos old. He is the youngest of 3 Frenchie brothers ( the oldest passed in 2020) but he was smaller and got so much more attention than the others being so sick. We didn't crate him because he was so sick and I was bathing him and washing blankets multiple times a day. I personally kept him alive for 10 days before the ICU took over them antibiotics/antivirals for months. Now he is the baby of two - the older one is perfectly potty trained and sleeps in a crate (he turns 10 in November). He also has had spinal surgery for congenital vertebrae issues and loss of bowel control. He recovered well but now he has begun to slide backwards and cannot always make it outside to the yard to potty 😢. His walking has deteriorated again and of course I'm sure he will live forever but unfortunately Link's behavior has been very difficult - his marking is getting worse and he seems very bored so he is acting out. Also he is now picking up his brother's "bad habits". Would an alpha female puppy be any benefit to getting him to learn to stop marking from potty training her and also give him a buddy to boss him around?? I know it sounds like a crazy idea but we have literally tried EVERYTHING 😬🤨🤔

Herea the situation: I have 1 dog at my house, but when i bring him to my moms, there is multiple dogs that visit there.
My 10 month golden retriever only peed a few rimes during puppy training, and has never peed in my house since. However he is marking EVERYTHING in my moms house. Id like to truat him without a leash inside, but he is starting to mark EVERYTHING and is too young to nueter yet. What can i do !?

      Hey Remi,
It sounds like he is marking, not an uncommon problem when in a house when in a house with other dogs.
You will want to limit rehearsal, this can be done by blocking access to the areas he has been known to mark or reducing the amount of space he has access to in the house so he can't disappear and mark without you knowing.
Teaching boundary games will help, create that space where he is happy and comfortable.

At least you guys had the marking outside rather than in the house. Not me, but one of my students, with her un-neutered male Bichon going to be used for breeding. And she has about 4 dogs, he's the only one that gives her a challenge.

... and all the same applies for your dog sniffing a lampost that is right next to someone's front garden boundary? Urine obviously can splash into neighbour's garden.

Hey!! 😀 Have you been growing value in your Attention Noise? So useful for whenever you feel you need to interrupt a questionable choice they're making!! 😁

I bought a bitch and since then lost control over my male, he doesn’t do it when I walk him alone but when I walk him with my bitch he marks every 5 seconds, he’ll pee while walking to get the mark done, it’s pee and pooh marking, and it’s soo annoying especially when I am in a rush and my dog is jerking me too the side to mark every 5 seconds. I’ll put him between me and the bitch and he’ll stop marking but at the same time gives me less control over the bitch who is not trained yet, and dominant with other dogs.

Tricky situation indeed! There is an easy solution - walk them separately. Its quality over quantity. If you only have 20 minutes to walk them, split it to 10 mins each.
