    It’s weird because I filed with turbo tax and my refund was $1032 the irs made changes to my taxes so now am only getting $232 back ? I also check that earned income credit and it say $1,209 , is that the amount I’m being credited ?

    The EITC has helped many taxpayers to reduce their tax liabilities. It's really quite simple, as this video aptly presents.

    Does Social Security count as earned income??? I did earn it.

    • @BrainToMush
      @BrainToMush 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kathy Cracroft No. Those who are 65 or older do not qualify for Earned Income Credit because they are eligible for Social Security.

    • @pawiz01
      @pawiz01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, in order to qualify for EIC you needed to have actually worked for income not just have it given to you like social security or tax interested accumulated by a bank etc.

    I like how this lady just blindly assumes what people will do with the refund. As if everyone who receives it is going to use it for some vital necessity and not to buy a new tv or iphone

    "The people who need it most" funny. There's this lady that works with my sister that claims this and gets thousands of dollars back. She doesn't work like a third of the year on purpose to qualify for it. total bs

      My friend... that lazy bitch is no "lady" ..... she's a leech on the Working American's tax dollars and the system. These fucks should be cut off, if not weeded out. There are far too many loopholes for the rich as well.

      Unlike a lot of other welfare programs, the EITC is designed so it's always better to earn more money instead of less (no welfare cliffs) so she's making wrong calculations or is doing that for something else.

      Well those are a small group of people we call "free riders" in economics. There will always be free riders in every scenario in which the government subsidizes. For example, pure public goods like the police or military. You will still be protected by the police and military even if you do not pay taxes, because you can't single out each individual that doesn't pay taxes, and ensure that the police and military do not protect them. I mean our former president Trump didn't pay income taxes and was still able to have taxpayer funded goods.
      It is basic economics and it will always exist. The EITC, overall, does a lot more good to low income families than bad.

  • @TheBmonster1

    But if the Republicans abolished the Income tax you would get a full refund and no need for tax credits.
