I think the reason why Moonkin's songs are considered best of Hollow Knight songs is because he understands why the story is impactfull. Story of HK is fantastic but we fandoms sometimes focus on lore bit to too much. Moonkin imbraces the symbolism and emotions of the story into properly toned song. Him being amazing singer helps also. Lol

Honestly, nah, I can't think of anything. The only other songs are either only music or animation with a song that's not originally about HK.

A touchingly lovely dirge for Hallownest, a sadly beautiful song about the tragedy of the Pale King. Thank you immeasurably for this song that responds to the fibers of my soul!

The three different colors represent three different bugs watching the Pale King from their angles:
•The yellow essence is the Goodseeker, narrating the first lyrics as she observe the shiny god he is.
•The white essence represents the White Lady, feeling sorry for her husband, trying to reach out to him to comfort and apologize for leaving him.
•And the blue essence is the voice of the black creature with blue eyes, the creature that the king himself had trapped it deep down in the Abyss with his children’s corpse. Looking up, it questions the Pale King why he had to put his children’s life to death here?

So Today is the day, as we are releasing the last one.
The lyrics have been in work for almost a year and have seen 6 different iterations.
Although it is indeed an important milestone, there is but a small detail left for us to see through until the album release itself, with fanfares, streaming services and stuff.

i love how this song sounds like an old folk song passed down through generations about a fallen king and his kingdom. totally captures the vibe of the story of Hollow Knight.
I love all your songs with the guitar present. It has this magical sound that combines with your voices to create an experience unique to you guys. Only you make this kind of stuff. Can't wait to see what will come next)
Also that "dirge, for the hallownest, Weep of the hallownest" part was so atmospheric with the visuals, instruments and voices working together just- God damn you guys are talented

I've noticed that, in some of your songs, specifically "The Last Farewell", "The Fading Realm" and this one, there's an introduction bit that always sounds, apart from good; melancolic or/and nostalgic, it gives me a strange feel that I can't describe, but I love it.

Just a reminder of sheerly how sad the white lady's story is,
She lost her husband, Her children, Her knights, Literally everyone she knew is dead.
She just... *exists* in her garden, Seemingly no one visits her, Not even hornet.
She has spent decades alone, No comfort, No companionship, No love, She can't even move, She really does have nothing, She's even losing her eyesight
Don't forget about her hearing. Probably even her mind. And her gardens slowly become overgrown with thorns, that she, most likely, unconsciously creates herself. She's also isolated to the point she doesn't know her knight is dead (or maybe she's simply in denial).

I played through the game and beat it then proceeded to just sit next to the white lady for the rest of time. This is a nice song to listen to as I do so when I get on again

as someone who is hooked to hollow knight deeply despite only having it for a week, this song gives me goose bumps. Well done in the singing department

Yeeessss.
He's a complicated character. He did atrocious stuff, can't refute that. But he was trying to save an entire kingdom.
His biggest flaw lies more in him being a coward, than an evil person.
He's such a well written character, people don't have to like him, but he's well written and not the cause of the suffering in the game.
According to the REAL lore, the wyrms and their kingdoms suffered an extinction (lord mushroom, bardoon), the last of them only conquered the descendants of the ancient civilization (monomon's poem) who failed in their attempt to colonize the territory (mask maker), and the other tribes accepted them, even the seer ancestors betrayed their mother (seer, fugal wastes and greenpath) their subjects created a religion for their introverted personality (lemm), and became very selfish beings (hunter), in the infection the king cannot assassinate a spirit that only dies if it is forgotten (seer, radiance) he had to seal it in a container chosen in a test of strength (the theory of segregation does not make sense) and he regretted it ( ancient basin, mask maker). He was even abused because Berrah did not have a child from her deceased husband (mantis, midwife), and his plan was ruined because he loved his son (path of pain), after his failure, the void tried to destroy the kingdom, (servant of beacon) but the king absorbed him(voidheart, the queen with voidheart, radiance), and sacrificed his soul to create the voidheart(...no cost to great.........soul of wyrm.soul of root .hear of void.) in a last plan to stop the plague (throne dialogue)
Everything they know about the king are only exaggerations, based only on the sentimentality of "his victims" which do not correspond to the descriptions of the game, even with the present evidence they will continue to cling to the first impression of him to say that he is a bad person.
He is hated for being a "child killer" (as if vessels had a chance to survive) ignoring that they also killed children (young mantises, little mushrooms, grimmkin novice).
I love how this fandom just writes entire essays in the comments about a part of the game that you 90% of players miss…
@@Kirbylord76 It being easy to miss, and non essential to enjoy the game; just makes it more powerful with how well crafted it is.
Lots of games rely on the story telling, frustrating people who don't care about the story; this is a perfect blend. People who don't care about the story can just enjoy the well tuned gameplay, and those who enjoy the story can enjoy the story too.
Team cherry put so much effort into something that wasn't really nessisary to enjoy the game; which is what honestly elevated it. How far they went *beyond* to create it.

Sad that you deleted the russian version. It was in my opinion even better than this one. I still like to listen to this one, but i will miss the other. It is the same with other songs you made in russian, and I did hope you'll make other ones in this language as well, but this one is special for me.

I hear imperfections in all of your pieces, which doesn't mean I don't like them, but of the two, the russian version really did sound smoother and more fitting for me. I might be biased, because i am learning russian, so it was a bit more special for me, but my opinion remains. If you are unsatisfied with what you did, it's ok, it is your music, and you know that stuff better than me, but i feel there is more to it's deletion than not liking it, and it didn't deserve to "die", especially considering, that the old "fading realm" is still there.
