Lovely work. This is my favorite interpretation of The Radiance. A goddess that was once a genuinely loving mother to her people. But like an over-protective parent that refused to let her children go, her light became suffocating. A hive-mind that denied them free thought and individuality for fear of losing them to the dangers and influences of the outside world. So when her people finally did abandon her for the Pale King, she was eventually driven to madness over their betrayal, as well as her fear of being completely forgotten.
I love more people having sympathy for Radiance, as Seer says the only death that truly matters is being forgotten and though Radiance went about it the wrong way she did deserve to be remembered
Before she became INCREDIBLY PISSED OFF, it is quite possible she was a gentler deity than what we see. Based on what those who remembered her say, the Radiance was much like natural law, kind and brutal in the same breath, ultimately fair. It was only after the Pale King did her so wrong that she became the vengeful scream you see now. Her modern presence is divine rage incarnate.

Imagine that, but in words instead. As for the past... Hard to say, but she isn't made of flame, so I doubt her voice would be so smokey you want to hand her a glass of water like with Grimm. I wouldn't be surprised if her voice boomed out with a reverb effect, being one of the mightiest higher beings we or the God Seekers have ever seen. Likely a mature voice, one that sounds as dominant as she was, back in her time. But we'll never be sure, most likely.

I just realised this, the two flute melody lines are slightly different but sync up in places, a bit like the vocals. ALSO there's only one flute line during the solo after the first verse (with just the moth.), but after they both sing, the second one comes in. It's also mirrored with the intro, the first half having only one guitar, with the second half having two. Now THAT is what I call clever composition!

This song always make my hair stand on end, and Tbh it actually made me cry haha, also why does this make me think of a mother and her children/child, like the children want to go out and explore the world but the mother can't let go of her children and wants to keep them safe, I read to much into this probably but still amazing song keep up the great work!
Its implied very heavily in game that the Moth tribe, or the moths in Hallownest in general, were descendants of The Radiance and you can tell because she *very* much resembles an moth looks wise. So she is technically is their mother and not just an god to them. The Moths are very familiar with how the Dream works and the Dream was heavily implied to of been created by her. The Moth Tribe itself has sadly all but died out though which makes this video quite bittersweet. The only living moths you see in-game is the old Moth Seer and maybe the Grey Mourner and they both die after you complete their side quests.
I really like this interpretation of the Radiance. It shows that she was a nurturing and loving mother, yet very protective of her children. Though in the end, she let her anger get the best of hed.. This song actually almost made me cry. I can't help but feel bad for her, even in the "Dream no More" and the "Embrace the Void" endings. think she wasn't all that evil. You did a great job with this, and I also like the voice you gave her. This is now my headcannon voice for Radiance.
she might be a proyective mother but she was littel to greedy and infected parts of the kingdom she didn't even role, she took the minds of others turning them back to mindless animals, she didn't stop at the moth she took the minds of the children of unn and also deepnest and more before the wyrm she wasn't this aggressive, i think its fear and anger that let her to try and take the mind of all

The way the lyrics clash during the final part is such an amazing detail. Even in the game, Radiance can't seem to see how her time has ended, that she must let go, but she won't listen, just like here

I was trying to get the dream no more ending in hollow knight a couple weeks back, and I decided to listen to this while fighting the final bosses because, fitting, right? Well i was having a really difficult time fighting the radiance until i started listening to this, and I finally managed to beat her!! Crazy, huh?
The key so successful fight in hollow knight is actually calm and read the boss move set this song give enough distraction to make you not afraid of die. Not to much distraction just to make you forget that you fighting some goddess that do not want to give up his memories.

the thing I didn't quite get is, the moth race are the moths supposed to be demi-gods or something? Like, there's a moth that's just idling by near the graveyard, and another moth thats a literal god, sun, dream, and everything inbetween
Because records regarding her have all been expunged, it's hard to know the exact origins of the Radiance. She was likely either A. a normal moth who gradually gained power and supporters through the manipulation of dreams until she transcended into godhood or B. a god who created the moths and taught them how to manipulate dreams.
It's most likely that radiance is some sort of protector of the dream realm. It is at the moment unknown how radiance came to be. Maybe she too is a descendant of a wyrm. Or she could have just existed forever. Gods&Glory will have to tell this part of the story... Or not
The radiance created the moths, so perhaps they are demigods. They exert some measure of control over Dreams, in any case. The radiance is probably related to Grimm in some way, as they both use Dreams in a unique way, and the lore of Grimm Troupe mentions a war in the Dream Realm, banishing the Nightmare King to the Nightmare Realm. I find it likely she was always a god, because she is stated to have "Created" the moth race, and she couldn't be a member of a species that doesn't exist unless she time travels or is a God.

Like, there's a moth that's just idling by near the graveyard, and another moth thats a literal god, sun, dream, and everything inbetween
More like moths were created by Radiance. "Created in the image of God" and all that stuff.
Because records regarding her have all been expunged, it's hard to know the exact origins of the Radiance. She was likely either A. a normal moth who gradually gained power and supporters through the manipulation of dreams until she transcended into godhood or B. a god who created the moths and taught them how to manipulate dreams.
It's most likely that radiance is some sort of protector of the dream realm. It is at the moment unknown how radiance came to be. Maybe she too is a descendant of a wyrm. Or she could have just existed forever. Gods&Glory will have to tell this part of the story... Or not
The radiance created the moths, so perhaps they are demigods. They exert some measure of control over Dreams, in any case. The radiance is probably related to Grimm in some way, as they both use Dreams in a unique way, and the lore of Grimm Troupe mentions a war in the Dream Realm, banishing the Nightmare King to the Nightmare Realm. I find it likely she was always a god, because she is stated to have "Created" the moth race, and she couldn't be a member of a species that doesn't exist unless she time travels or is a God.
