True, the host talks about Hush being the only video the band has ever appeared in, but I vividly remember glimpses of all band members at the beginning of Sober - a video that was out many years before this "interview".
thank you adam. no one moshed to them when they came to NZ was amazing everyone was mesmerized and just watching and listening to tool just an amazing experience maynard voice was perfect their playing was amaculate was an awesome set list to
how does TOOL become so big without interviews, music vidoes, radio play, and 5 year breaks between recording? because its not about the time it takes to create a piece of art, its about the product that comes in the end.
Whats funny is that I had a conversation with someone a few weeks ago, and I stated my opinion of how I feel about them, and instead of having a intelligent, varied argument, I not only get thumbs down from people, but the host deleted my earlier remarks. The first song they mention on this video, (Hush) is EXACTLY what Tool stood for.
what maynard says at the end of the clip is pretty profound tool has recently become part of the select few artists who i have some very serious respect for, and really see as "true artists"
You pronounced it right. It is meant to be kind of a compound word or double meaning. They use the A/E so you get Anima and Enema together. Anima being latin for soul, you get with enema, a soul-cleansing. Cleanse is defined as: to rid of impurities as if by washing. So in the title track, he is saying Mom (mother nature) please flush it all away.
JDownloader does more than just audio. It will let you get the video as well. It will also let you get all of the images posted in an image board thread (4chan, Reddit) in a couple of clicks.
My last comment was wrong. They did were featured in the video Sober not Track 01 also known as Stinkfist. They were swaying around in the video like they were tweaking. No i am not saying they did drugs. Maybe they did but who really cares. It is all about the music and amazing artwork they put out with the albums.
I'm only 15 and have been listening to Tool for a little over 3 years. I have every album from Opiate to 10,000 Days. I can see where you're coming from. But I don't think that the new albums suck. They're just not as bombastic as Opiate and Undertow.
Can't think of one, but I do hate that it takes so long for them to write another album. I'm going to be probably 25 or 26 before I hear from them again. (21 now)
This is exactly what i'm talking about. People act like i'm questioning their manhood when anyone has the balls to criticize them in any-way. 10000 days sucked, and if you liked it, I have a cd of me making ambient sounds on pro tools for 20 dollars if you wanna buy it, sheep. Im sure 3 years from now, Tool will come out with an album filled with nothing but sound effects and it will be hailed by all as "Genius" Someone has to call bullshit.
I agree that 10,000 days isn't a bad album, and that no band (Except Pantera, RIP Dime) really can stick to the exact same formula and be succesful artisticaly and commercialy, however, the jump in in style is huge compared to their earlier work. They just seemed to have a funkier, heavier sound. It probably has more to do with Paul leaving than anything. Anyways, thanks for the actual intelligent reply, I don't see to many of those.
@NearbyHermit I suppose the people that are able to grasp what they're all trying to convey would be a good thing....I mean from the bands prospective. Otherwise, what would be the purpose? Most people I've talked to hasn't even heard of them. I figure if they wanted to hear them, they would know about TOOL. But it takes more than just hearing a couple riffs or a sweet bass line in the ambiance to understand whats going on in the song. Most of friends don't like them because its too mellow
dude... undertow and AENIMA are prolly my favorite releases by TOOL but that doesnt mean that i cant recognize the awesomness of this release.. there are some truley epic songs on this cd with really great messages and insight (vicarious, right in two, wings for marie.) im just saying that 10,000 days is not "just noise"... thats just a rediculous statement... to me it isnt much different then most of tools body of work.. theyve always been true to thier roots
I'll agree to disagree on "10,000 Days". I actually liked it, but it certainly is different than earlier stuff, which was awesome too. Maybe my tastes have changed some, but I can see why some people would not like it as much as their earlier stuff. It's not the same. One could say "Sweat" and "The Pot" were from 2 different bands if they didn't know better. They did a good concert though, and it was trippier than the earlier/heavier stuff. Maybe they are getting to be old men too. Who knows.
I agree. He is making APC and Pusicifer album before TOOL this year. I'm not sure about Puscifer but imn certain of APC. Don't get me wrong they are both kickass bands but I'd rather see more TOOl stuff than APC or Puscifer.
They don't get played on the radio for good reason. They know that people like us won't listen to the radio because of the crap that's already on there.
HOLLY CRAP i just noticed on that Lateralus artwork thingy at the beggining in the brain it says "God". Not sure but for me and because of what i know until know they probably suggest that we are our own god... Or god is in our brain...
so true but i'm proud to be a person who listens with an artist's ears but it's hilarious to see people try to headband to tool when it's such odd time signatures
@buriedinlight I agree with everything you say in exception to Nirvana's fake-ass sentimentality comment. I don't see much sentimentality in Kurt's lyrics, tbh... I don't see where you got that from.
Look, I know being critical of them on this channel was like stirring up a bees nest, but I grew up on Opiate and Undertow. I was hoping to hear some feedback on those of us who have. Ever since Paul left, the albums just seem to kinda drag on. They're live shows are awe-inspiring, though. I truly respect them and they're music, but will not waste another 20 dollars on an album that I feel is just...Meh. Maybe they have just gotten old? You can't be pissed off forever.
According to the band it is pronounced 'On E Mah'. Perhaps this isn't true grammerically (i doubt thats a word) but technically they created the word, so whatever... I still say 'A Knee Ma'
Musicianship? After waiting years for an album, I basically spent 20 dollars to listen to them dick around on their instruments for an hour. If you had grown up with Opiate and Undertow as your version of them, you'd see why I feel that way. I mean, really, was 10000 days worth a 4 year wait? Also, during an interview with Metal Edge, Adam stated that that album would be alot heavier, due to an influence of them touring Northern Europe and playing with alot of the death metal bands.
I've been listening to Tool since the good 'ole Opiate days, and find everything after Undertow to be, well, boring really. Maybe i'm just not as stoned or as "enlightened" as them, but it just does not get me pumped like their earlier stuff. I want my rock music to get me going, and find it rather arrogant when millionaire's who have been messed up on the hardest drugs on earth try to teach me life lessons. I have huge respect for them but am dissapointed that they evolved into this.
Anyhow, I'll pass on your ambient sounds CD, but everyone having their own opinion should be allowed and not attacked. So I'll listen to your opinion even if it is different. I would be worried if EVERYONE thought the same.
True, the host talks about Hush being the only video the band has ever appeared in, but I vividly remember glimpses of all band members at the beginning of Sober - a video that was out many years before this "interview".
I remember when Tool first came on the scene. They were nothing like anyone else. What a sound they have.
tool are four of the most GENUINE human beings i've ever heard of. very REAL people and true artists
thank you adam. no one moshed to them when they came to NZ was amazing everyone was mesmerized and just watching and listening to tool just an amazing experience maynard voice was perfect their playing was amaculate was an awesome set list to
Makes me feel warm all over. Tool is necessary.
how does TOOL become so big without interviews, music vidoes, radio play, and 5 year breaks between recording? because its not about the time it takes to create a piece of art, its about the product that comes in the end.
Cant be more proud of my favourite band! Come to Spain soon!!!
so stoked ive experienced TOOL live 3 times oh and apc aswell once sooo sick!!!!!!!!!
awesome, thanks for posting this. just wish it were longer :]
Syracuse's NY (I live in oswego, Near syracuse.) has Tool played pretty much daily on KRock 106.5.
listen with ur heart god i love tool & iv only just found out about them
Whats funny is that I had a conversation with someone a few weeks ago, and I stated my opinion of how I feel about them, and instead of having a intelligent, varied argument, I not only get thumbs down from people, but the host deleted my earlier remarks. Maybe at night Tool plays on the radio frequently, but it rarely plays any other time up here.
what maynard says at the end of the clip is pretty profound
tool has recently become part of the select few artists who i have some very serious respect for, and really see as "true artists"

rocket95.1 (huntsville, AL) used to play TOOL when I lived there
Thank you, FortKnox69. To me, Jerk-off live is the GREATEST song ever, and Tool today sounds absolutley nothing like it.
yea and in the extra scenes on the dvd you see him painting :)
10,000 Days is my favorite i love it
tool gets played on the radio, atleast nowadays sometimes
Love this band since the 5 song casette came out 1991
JDownloader does more than just audio. It will let you get the video as well. It will also let you get all of the images posted in an image board thread (4chan, Reddit) in a couple of clicks.
Also, sounds interesting, please post the result later, I'd love to hear it :)
I like Adam's stare down at the camera in the Hush video at 1:35.
If you only want the audio there are plenty of free programs, just search "download youtube to mp3 converter" in google.

No i am not saying they did drugs. Maybe they did but who really cares. It is all about the music and amazing artwork they put out with the albums.
They only play sodding Indie bands on radio stations that used to play Tool in the UK now :'(
It's not fair!
great upload..........CHEERS....

This is exactly what i'm talking about. a lot of tool is on in knoxville
i listen with artists ears, i still want a free toy with this happy meal!
@NearbyHermit I suppose the people that are able to grasp what they're all trying to convey would be a good thing....I mean from the bands prospective. Otherwise, what would be the purpose? We're artists in our own way... says maynard. :)
i already downloaded the audio, but im caught up in another song, atm but im constantly thinking about how bad ass i will make this song :D
Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc...
@Cameron227700 Do you have you're story up somewhere? I'd like to read it.
Thanks for you're time.
They appeared in Hush too.
"the australian fans aren't as knuckle-headed, like us." i agree. i'm fond of not seeming knuckle-headed. lol
"turn up just to get a free toy with this happy meal." lol
they play them regularly in Los Angeles
good job thanks
only by about 8 years.
I agree. He is making APC and Pusicifer album before TOOL this year. I'm not sure about Puscifer but imn certain of APC. Don't get me wrong they are both kickass bands but I'd rather see more TOOl stuff than APC or Puscifer.
it says at the end of part 3, 2001
@crazebox66 lol i meant without being in their music videos. my bad
Can this story that you wrote be shared on here? I be curious to read/hear it!
Maynard laid it to rest about any negativity towards paul by saying at 3:19-3:20 that "it worked out for the better" Justin > Paul
@johnnydepietro1968 came out in '92 actually
woops the narrator messed up lol
they've appeared in two vids - hush & sober (for a split second)
Track 01....as in Stinkfist? They aren't in that video....pretty sure they aren't....
I think the free toys in happy meals cost more to make than the actual food in the happy meals.
Mern3k Bit late to reply to this. but there is no real food in happy meals
@DisturbedDanny94 what town is that?
it does say god. good eye mate!
is there a way that i can get this interview? i want to use it in a song i want to write about tool.
Tool = epic
Not really, they do now but still not much this video came out in 2006. Before TOOL was really on the radio.
They don't get played on the radio for good reason. They know that people like us won't listen to the radio because of the crap that's already on there.
ok thank you i only need audio
Whoops, it says that in the video. ._.
@Snakepit4321
A Perfect Statement!
lol i was getting ready start head banging and playing air guitar at 8:25... then they changed the song on me.
@trulysarcastic Later this year or 2011
HOLLY CRAP i just noticed on that Lateralus artwork thingy at the beggining in the brain it says "God".
Not sure but for me and because of what i know until know they probably suggest that we are our own god...
Or god is in our brain...
i hear probably the pot and prison sex the most but i also hear schism and late at night laturalus (shortened) and parabola
they apeared briefly in sober
just there faces
Is that Maynard's real hair?
don't think so
wig
the only Tool record i never ever liked was the Opiate EP, i love the others
fucking right perfectly said
Google a program called "JDownloader"
is mjk wearing a wig?
so true but i'm proud to be a person who listens with an artist's ears but it's hilarious to see people try to headband to tool when it's such odd time signatures
@buriedinlight I agree with everything you say in exception to Nirvana's fake-ass sentimentality comment.
I don't see much sentimentality in Kurt's lyrics, tbh... I don't see where you got that from.
@DisturbedDanny94 tell me where you live. I´ll move.
You will never know, if they are really honest....;) think about mjk words, not just listen...;)
i heard schism on the radio. and stinkfist
they play prison sex, schism, sober, and the pot here in michigan often.
Look, I know being critical of them on this channel was like stirring up a bees nest, but I grew up on Opiate and Undertow. I was hoping to hear some feedback on those of us who have. you must look underground
sooooooooooooo true hahah
you cnat understand the logic behind the concept "like" and differentiate how another can like some things and not others.
some people dont like anger
According to the band it is pronounced 'On E Mah'. Perhaps this isn't true grammerically (i doubt thats a word) but technically they created the word, so whatever... I still say 'A Knee Ma'
Subtitulos por favor!
deveria ter mesmo...
@Snakepit4321 hell yeah
sober right
they came out in sober?
england at least has radiohead and porcupine tree
A Tool fan censoring Tool, i've seen it all.
Why?
Musicianship? After waiting years for an album, I basically spent 20 dollars to listen to them dick around on their instruments for an hour. If you had grown up with Opiate and Undertow as your version of them, you'd see why I feel that way. I mean, really, was 10000 days worth a 4 year wait? Also, during an interview with Metal Edge, Adam stated that that album would be alot heavier, due to an influence of them touring Northern Europe and playing with alot of the death metal bands.
Move to America :D
everyone has a third eye. some people's are just closed
and Sober.
I've been listening to Tool since the good 'ole Opiate days, and find everything after Undertow to be, well, boring really. Maybe i'm just not as stoned or as "enlightened" as them, but it just does not get me pumped like their earlier stuff. Queen's english?
its not queen's english, its proper english.
the reason we know how to say it is because its called ENGLISH
not AMERICAN?
Anyhow, I'll pass on your ambient sounds CD, but everyone having their own opinion should be allowed and not attacked. So I'll listen to your opinion even if it is different. I would be worried if EVERYONE thought the same.
