All I got to say is cleaning that thing (the shifter) is gonna be a lesson in OCD techniques. That has to be the most intricate cosmetic car part I've ever seen. "How can we make the shifter knob and linkage itself as complicated as the transmission"...... Brilliant!

Can't stop watching videos on this car. I think the man has actually managed to save the manuals. Some of the most significant progress in sports cars has come from this firm. Long live Koenigsegg.
Saved manual transmissions single-handedly. Right... Surely I don't have to tell you or anyone else that In the end its up to the consumers voting with their wallet, but ok. Current day, manual transmission seems reserved for purists and enthusiasts so don't get ur hopes up. Someone please explain how making 50 cars by hand is considered a production car? Is 50 makes right on the edge of what is considered a production car or what? I love how open he is about the naming the model in reference to his 50th birthday as well. I'm not hating, but it comes across narcissistic the way he brought it. How hard can it be to come up with a name that honors the CC8S without mentioning the amount that gets produced and the company owners' birthday? He's not even 50 yet! This promo video is almost like a comedy sketch. Love the aesthetics and can't wait to never drive it.

@@vergaerd the system seemed to be developed to reach emissions and other regulations, so as the regulations get more strict in the future, the manual can be preserved with this system, and other systems like the Toyota manual transmission on electric cars

When people say they want a coupe, it means they want a coupe. When they say they want an all-wheel-drive, it means they want an all-wheel-drive. This is everything that a true petrolhead needs in his life in the era where ICE's are dying with manuals and the fact that they are eco friendly with bio fuels. However, research is still ongoing. Fossil fuels = environmentally damaging no matter what, biofuel = potential to be less environmentally damaging. I put so much love and appreciation to Koenigsegg and the team behind him. He almost made my cry when he said *“created from blood sweat and tears from a VERY little crew of people,”* this is a man’s dream and embodiment of what a “teamwork makes dream work” truly is. It only took 20 years from this small group of people to stand up against bigger and older motorsport companies. It is such a marvelous job from a guy who started everything from nothing to something.

this is actually insane what they've managed to pull off here, I don't know how they do it but whatever they do is just perfect and they somehow keep improving upon what's already perfect without compromising anything. @Andy Cooke yup it definitely does but the main factor is the passion and hunger for innovation, to create something new and revolutionary. Many other companies have way more money and are almost a century older than Koenigsegg, but Koenigsegg are the only ones coming up with crazy stuff like this
@@northernhemisphere4906 what regulations? since when did we start having regulations for these type of gearboxes? I'm mainly talking about the gearbox here when I mention the "innovation", they made a gearbox that can operate both fully automatically and like a traditional manual, has different number of gears for both, has different gear ratios in different modes, and can deliver 1300+ hp smoothly. And even other than the gearbox, they developed an engine which has no turbo lag, which is not as big of a deal as the gearbox but still worth mentioning.
I've officially added "Drive in a Koenigsegg car" to my bucket list. I don't even care if it's in the passenger seat! These cars are works of art. More so than any other car on the market IMO.
I am so happy for Christian and his People at Koenigsegg, and wish them all the very best, it is well deserved. A side note, they are at the forefront of new technology and the fact you have a choice of a 9-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual in the same gearbox is mind blowing! Kudos to you guys
@@JT-oz7yn from what I understand there is only a 9 speed auto transmission. The cockpit controles are basically a sim racing rig that emulates manual transmission.

@@simonrano8072 Thats what i understood as well. The computer controls the gears in the automatic transmission based on the feedback from the "manual" transmission. But the manual transmission is not physically connected to the automatic transmission.
Its hard to believe how young Koenigsegg is, they have been perfect since day one. They are a Supreme class to hyper cars. I almost mistook the 20 yo one for the new one. Thats how much ahead of their time they were.

Supercars generally don’t do the “modern” design facades and gimmicks as they try to keep their cars timeless (look at Bugatti and old Ferrari etc). Having a screen in the car could make it look tacky 50 years down the line for example.
It’s one thing to make a fast car out of high quality materials, it’s another to completely push the boundaries of engineering ENTIRELY in house with a small team. This guy is a living legend. I just hope to see and hear one of these cars in person someday!

This is just magnificent. Didn't know about this presentation and it's a great tribute for the 20th anniversary of the CC8S. But what I wasn't expecting at all was this revival of the manual ... with a bang! Not only is this maybe the only hypercar I can think of that comes with a manual transmission but it also innovates it further, with the total 9 gears available into the typical 6-speed configuration, so that you can have different ratios based on the use case. If I got it right it will still feature the typical auto mode which means it's a win-win situation, you'll be able to choose how you want to drive it without giving up on anything. I'm enthusiastic about this new breeze of manual transmissions, especially for the hypercar segment. I hope this will inspire more auto makers to follow Koenigsegg's lead. I'm all for these new innovations such as bio-fuels and even full electricity, though without renouncing to a good old manual which, in this case, is also a really evolved and refined version of it. It's proof manual can co-exist with the latest tech. Thanks Christian and team for understanding how vital manual is for us petrolheads. 💛💙

Honestly, the most surprising thing about this for me is that Koeniggsegg managed to build a clutch that can handle being slammed with almost 1400 hp. Like, I don’t even know what demon Christian had to sell his soul to to get that clutch alone made, let alone the engine or transmission, which are both equally astonishing pieces of engineering. Also, happy 50th to Christian. God I hope he has 50 more in him.

The first supercar I ever saw was a Koenigsegg CC8S, when I was 5, at Top Gear, now I'm 16 and seeing my childhood dream car come back again is insane, thank you so much Koenigsegg.

I actually made a correct prediction about their next move with LST lol. When I first learned about the LST and how it's work, I thought that with the capabilities of LST, it's a no brainer to make a simulated manual transmission. And they are actually going to make it and put it in their cars now. Best of the both world, road and track. Massive congratulation and happy 50th birthday Christian.
@@srinitaaigaura I know, it's just at that time I just thought if they simulate the LST like a manual gearbox with the software alone, that's in itself will be a gamechanger. But, Koenigsegg just being Koenigsegg, went beyond that. Just mind-blown. I just watched MrJWW video about this car, and the sound when he blip the throttle was super responsive like a race car. It's unbelievable.
@@Nick-kv3pv based on my understanding, they used the same LST from the Jesko, so the clutching and variable ratio selection is done by software. But, the trigger for the clutching and selecting ratio is done by using the clutch pedal and a gated gear lever to simulate the analog feeling and engagement of traditional manual transmission. The drive will feel connected, but technically not. If they make it truly connected, the size and the weight of the transmission will significantly increase as more component will be added into the transmission. But based on the video, the LST in the car still use solenoids for the clutches, so they are not mechanically connected.
@@budokpantai I think you're right in that gear selection is done "by-wire" but as far as I can tell from the video the clutch is hydraulically actuated and connected to the rear in order to have the real feedback and stalling ability. I suppose it is still a compromise but it's not really akin to the simulated manuals that Toyota is talking about doing 100% in software at all.
That is absolutely awesome. Keeping the manual and integrating it with an auto I thought was impossible. Hats off to Koenigsegg for not caving to ditching real engines like Dodge and others are doing

@@timetraveler_0 The major difference is you're in direct control of the clutch with the pedal. "Manual Mode" automatics are still in control at all times and won't let you stall out.

When it come to attention to detail nobody beats Koenigsegg. Their cars are about as close to automotive perfection as you could ever get. They make Lamborghini and Ferrari look like a Suzuki if you ask me.

It's a 6 speed manual with different gear ratios depending on mode the car is in AND 9 speed auto? WOW! Having the choice between a manual and auto is incredible but the gear ratios changing on the manual is just another level!
It's not really manual. It's fake manual. The gearbox is fully automatic. When you switch to manual, the clutch and shifter are just sending a signal to it, same as paddles do. It's the same as paddle shift, just with a fake clutch pedal and shifter..
@@gstylez0107 If it gives the feel of a 6 speed, and has unique gearing for it, its a manual. The fact that it can be driven as an auto does not affect the purity of the car in any way. If anything, it is an added convenience.

There is no mechanical linkage from the clutch or shift knob, it's all electronic. That's no more a manual than any other triptronic paddle shifted car.. If this is manual then so is every other paddle shift car.. They did nothing different here other than sell a bullshit gimmick. It's a triptronic shift transmission with a fake clutch pedal and shifter so idiots can pretend like they're driving a manual trans, controlling a clutch and shifter that literally does nothing but add unnecessary steps in order to shift, all so they can feel nostalgic.. It's for dipshits with more money than sense. Seriously, it makes absolutely no sense to press a clutch pedal down when it serves no other purpose than to fool the driver into thinking they're driving a true manual.. Ese también es un problema para Koenigsegg y sus clientes. Como cada vehículo tiene diferente transmisión innovadora, ellos son los únicos que puedan solucionar cualquier problema del vehículo. Entonces si algún vehículo tiene una falla de motor, nomás Koenigsegg te lo puede arreglar y como es una empresa pequeña, van a tardar más de 6 meses e incluso hasta el año en reparar el problema. Porque todo el personal está enfocado en la producción y todo eso, hay muy poco personal en taller. Pero claro, son problemas de millonarios.

When I was a Child I always wanted a car with 3 pedal with a shift, but could also turn as a fully auto gearbox, 20 , years later someone finaly did it

I love how open he is about the naming the model in reference to his 50th birthday as well. I'm not hating, but it comes across narcissistic the way he brought it. I put so much love and appreciation to Koenigsegg and the team behind him. He almost made my cry when he said *“created from blood sweat and tears from a VERY little crew of people,”* this is a man’s dream and embodiment of what a “teamwork makes dream work” truly is. It only took 20 years from this small group of people to stand up against bigger and older motorsport companies. It is such a marvelous job from a guy who started everything from nothing to something.

I'm mainly talking about the gearbox here when I mention the "innovation", they made a gearbox that can operate both fully automatically and like a traditional manual, has different number of gears for both, has different gear ratios in different modes, and can deliver 1300+ hp smoothly. And even other than the gearbox, they developed an engine which has no turbo lag, which is not as big of a deal as the gearbox but still worth mentioning.

@@simonrano8072 Thats what i understood as well. The computer controls the gears in the automatic transmission based on the feedback from the "manual" transmission. But the manual transmission is not physically connected to the automatic transmission.
Its hard to believe how young Koenigsegg is, they have been perfect since day one. They are a Supreme class to hyper cars. I almost mistook the 20 yo one for the new one. Thats how much ahead of their time they were.

Supercars generally don’t do the “modern” design facades and gimmicks as they try to keep their cars timeless (look at Bugatti and old Ferrari etc). Having a screen in the car could make it look tacky 50 years down the line for example.

This is just magnificent. Didn't know about this presentation and it's a great tribute for the 20th anniversary of the CC8S. But what I wasn't expecting at all was this revival of the manual ... with a bang! Not only is this maybe the only hypercar I can think of that comes with a manual transmission but it also innovates it further, with the total 9 gears available into the typical 6-speed configuration, so that you can have different ratios based on the use case. If I got it right it will still feature the typical auto mode which means it's a win-win situation, you'll be able to choose how you want to drive it without giving up on anything. I'm enthusiastic about this new breeze of manual transmissions, especially for the hypercar segment. I hope this will inspire more auto makers to follow Koenigsegg's lead. I'm all for these new innovations such as bio-fuels and even full electricity, though without renouncing to a good old manual which, in this case, is also a really evolved and refined version of it. It's proof manual can co-exist with the latest tech. Thanks Christian and team for understanding how vital manual is for us petrolheads. 💛💙

This thing is magic.
Honestly, the most surprising thing about this for me is that Koeniggsegg managed to build a clutch that can handle being slammed with almost 1400 hp.
Like, I don’t even know what demon Christian had to sell his soul to to get that clutch alone made, let alone the engine or transmission, which are both equally astonishing pieces of engineering.

The first supercar I ever saw was a Koenigsegg CC8S, when I was 5, at Top Gear, now I'm 16 and seeing my childhood dream car come back again is insane, thank you so much Koenigsegg.
Love the new car, looks great and has the technology to go with the looks. The gearbox is amazing with the different track and road ratios. The people at Koenigsegg are truly amazing. I actually made a correct prediction about their next move with LST lol. When I first learned about the LST and how it's work, I thought that with the capabilities of LST, it's a no brainer to make a simulated manual transmission. And they are actually going to make it and put it in their cars now. Best of the both world, road and track. Massive congratulation and happy 50th birthday Christian.

@@Nick-kv3pv based on my understanding, they used the same LST from the Jesko, so the clutching and variable ratio selection is done by software. But, the trigger for the clutching and selecting ratio is done by using the clutch pedal and a gated gear lever to simulate the analog feeling and engagement of traditional manual transmission. The drive will feel connected, but technically not. If they make it truly connected, the size and the weight of the transmission will significantly increase as more component will be added into the transmission. But based on the video, the LST in the car still use solenoids for the clutches, so they are not mechanically connected.
@@budokpantai I think you're right in that gear selection is done "by-wire" but as far as I can tell from the video the clutch is hydraulically actuated and connected to the rear in order to have the real feedback and stalling ability. I suppose it is still a compromise but it's not really akin to the simulated manuals that Toyota is talking about doing 100% in software at all.
That is absolutely awesome. Keeping the manual and integrating it with an auto I thought was impossible. Hats off to Koenigsegg for not caving to ditching real engines like Dodge and others are doing

Most of these changes aren’t wanted by these companies, it’s true of they don’t comply they’ll go extinct, if you can’t beat the system join the system
it's an automatic with better manual feel, emulated better than others. Every modern automatic cars have manual shifts these days.
@@timetraveler_0 The major difference is you're in direct control of the clutch with the pedal. "Manual Mode" automatics are still in control at all times and won't let you stall out.

It's a 6 speed manual with different gear ratios depending on mode the car is in AND 9 speed auto? WOW! Having the choice between a manual and auto is incredible but the gear ratios changing on the manual is just another level!
It's not really manual. It's fake manual. The gearbox is fully automatic. When you switch to manual, the clutch and shifter are just sending a signal to it, same as paddles do. It's the same as paddle shift, just with a fake clutch pedal and shifter..
@@gstylez0107 If it gives the feel of a 6 speed, and has unique gearing for it, its a manual. The fact that it can be driven as an auto does not affect the purity of the car in any way. If anything, it is an added convenience.

There is no mechanical linkage from the clutch or shift knob, it's all electronic. That's no more a manual than any other triptronic paddle shifted car.. If this is manual then so is every other paddle shift car..
They did nothing different here other than sell a bullshit gimmick. It's a triptronic shift transmission with a fake clutch pedal and shifter so idiots can pretend like they're driving a manual trans, controlling a clutch and shifter that literally does nothing but add unnecessary steps in order to shift, all so they can feel nostalgic.. It's for dipshits with more money than sense.
Seriously, it makes absolutely no sense to press a clutch pedal down when it serves no other purpose than to fool the driver into thinking they're driving a true manual.. It's adding to shift time, limiting performance by adding useless steps when all the transmission uses to shift is an electronic signal, a literal digital button press..

Como cada vehículo tiene diferente transmisión innovadora, ellos son los únicos que puedan solucionar cualquier problema del vehículo. Entonces si algún vehículo tiene una falla de motor, nomás Koenigsegg te lo puede arreglar y como es una empresa pequeña, van a tardar más de 6 meses e incluso hasta el año en reparar el problema. Porque todo el personal está enfocado en la producción y todo eso, hay muy poco personal en taller.
Pero claro, son problemas de millonarios.

Wow. I fell in love with koenigsegg ever since I laid my eyes on the CC8S and CCX. This is just the perfect car. I’ve always wondered why no one made a transmission like that and I hoped I could make one like that. But now you guys have. Thank you for making the car that introduced me to the universe of cars and thank you for being the best car manufacturer out there👊
I never liked the Regera and the Jesko, but this one looks old school and beautiful like the old CCX
Thanks for 20 years of inspiration. I can't imagine I'll ever ever ride in a Koenigsegg. It goes beyond the car for me. Seems like a team doing what the love and not held back by much bureaucracy.

When I was a Child I always wanted a car with 3 pedal with a shift, but could also turn as a fully auto gearbox, 20 , years later someone finaly did it
