I just went to thorpe park with my year 9 class and it was really fun, i rode nemesis inferno, the swarm, and stealth twice. Which were my very first 'upside down' roller coasters
Amazing!
Love the channel and great presenting - this video has put me off visiting Alton towers due to the scruffy areas and the distance between rides is a pain too - not worth the entrance fee should be £20 max

can't wait for sub terra to reopen , I'm going on Wednesday and I'm going on it first
Hate to say this because I love Alton Towers as it’s one the best parks in the UK and I sure you do aswell but unfortunately, there are no signs of removing The Retrosquad at all if I am being honest. This is because Merlin and Alton Towers are a business meaning many of the GP love the Retrosquad in terms of the ride experience on all three of them or most likely, flat rides are extremely expensive to maintain them. Basically most of the flat rides at Alton Towers are simply removed because of maintenance costs. Take Ripsaw and Submission for example at the time, one side of Submission broke down when it’s life was deteriorating and Alton Towers haven’t got the money or parts to fix the other side of Submission and for Ripsaw, gradually over time the cycles were struggling and it was making a horrible noise in the latter part of its life. I didn’t ride it myself but it’s a shame really. I’m hoping since we have new management for the park, they will consider doing TLCs on their big coasters and also spending some investments on Thrillseeking Flat Rides themed to the area that will bring a new lease of life to Alton Towers.
Great vlog, I don't like to be negative, but I really feel altons Tower has been going down down hill recently, with a disappointing amount of rides yet to open this season, the tacky and annoying smiler takeover and the general wear and tear yet to be repaired. I wished they got the towers opened and refurbished the monorail before wasting money on "temporary" funfair rides and cringy events
Unfortunately so. Major changes and improvements are needed!

Hi. In your opinion, what is the best day to go during a term break (Whitsun)? I promised my lad I'd take him but am torn as really dont want masdive queues and cant afford fast passes. How early can you park too?
Definitely a weekday. Car park is open all the time!

I feel like if they keep on doing the cheap repairs with hex and don’t get vekoma out we are gonna lose the ride or towers are going to have spent more money that getting vekoma out in the first place
They really need to spend the money and do the job right!

Alton towers really like there retro rides that a lot of people don’t like and they also like to not spend the money that they need to spend. They are wasting money on retro rides.
Nice seeing Shawn's parents! Having them on really emphasized how having guests can really add a lot to the Vlogs. I hope the USA trip isn’t exclusively Shawn and Charlotte.

I think after sooo many years of basically free advertising for alton towers they should let you guys film on ride now so you can do reaction videos I'd have love to see your parents reaction 😂😂😂
I really wish they would fix the sky ride. It makes getting around the park as a wheelchair user so difficult, especially as some of the areas are really hilly or the paths between areas are in a terrible condition. Makes it an exhausting day to be honest. I love the rides but haven’t been back since last summer purely because of this which is a shame.
They really need it back in action.
David Walliams area needs to be rethemed, lot of issues with hex, need to get rid of it. Get rid of funfair rides, nice seeing Shauns parents again also x
They can’t get rid of Hex, it’s too iconic. They just need to put proper investment into getting it fixed rather than trying to cost cut and only doing partial repair.

We cancelled our big family trip to AT for these reasons.
Shouldn’t really include Nemesis since it was already well known it was getting retracked , plus at least Sub Terra is opening up to fill that void. The rest is understandable though.
Let’s hope we see Hex and Skyride open soon!

Hex and skyride now confirmed to be closed for the duration of the 2023 season. Not good enough from alton towers.
Strange to see Mardi Gras celebration starting there when we stopped them one to two months ago and are starting summer celebrations.

It was a shame that the Skyride, towers and Hex not being open last year but at least they’re coming back next Saturday also I agree on the dungeon not being as popular since it is a upcharge attraction located in a theme park and I remember in the 2022 vlog from May when people didn’t have time to experience a dungeon that lasts about 40 minutes it’s even confusing how it isn’t included in admission to the park but sharkbait reef is Hex was like Duel because they kept fixing things temporarily but with Duel they just let it go and leave it

You'd think after all the free publicity you guys have given alton towers over the years, they'd let you film on ride, go behind the scenes and stuff.
Maybe you should stop talking about them as much even though they are your local park.

I am 10 and I did every ride they had ! Even smiler it wasn’t scary at all !
Also the the holder things on rita vibrate alot when the rollercoaster comes past

I know that the new food vendor implemented an increase in price and a down grade in quality but has the park changed management. It's still a Merlin park but does it have new management? This is usually a reason for unpredictable ride operations and lack of communications!. Shawn, it was great to see your mom and dad again but we've not seen Charlotte's parents, will that ever happen or should I just MYOB! 😉

Great vlog and a great day out. I can't help feel that the new commercially driven director is using data to literally open and shut rides that cost v any human feeling about how it affects the overall experience. I know it has to be viable but alton towers has heart...don't rip it out with cost cutting and outsourcing poor quality offerings..like food..I won't be back otherwise
Alton Towers is a world class theme park unlike any other with it's incredible castle ruins as the park centerpiece. The whole park has a very historical and mysterious aura to it. WickerMan, The Smiler, Nemesis, Oblivion, & Galactica are absolute top-notch attractions. The Congo River Rapids could use some work, it's more of a lazy river experience.

I have a huge, huge fear that Hex's days are numbered... if they don't see the need to invest and keep it running well for the future I'm worried they'll just leave it closed and allow it to decline and eventually rip it out. I would be devastated 😢it is my favourite dark ride experience in the UK.

Loved vlog, really enjoyed and always look forward to seeing more in future. Loved the Battle Gallons part of video, looked like you all had a lot of fun lol. Really good ideal ride for summer especially if interested in getting revenge on family via pranks lol aswell for a bit of fun. Never been on it before, but on next visit its a ride I would love to experience 100%. Dungeons could see that going in future, but I did state to Coaster Crazy via comment section below one of his videos especially after he suggested on video about what if Towers built a restaurant and Entertainment street with venues, restaurants on Towers Street? Where I stated could take some ideas from London Resort & build an undercover street area with restaurants, entertainment venues especially in Monorail part of entrance a street entrance with maybe Dungeons as separate attraction off to side with entrance & exit? Be its own attraction instead of upcharge in park? But could build it on a land where a lot of new rides & coasters could be built on in future as part of it? For new additions for addition over the years? Could even with street have it like Disneyland Paris with Mainstreet be village for hotel guests to get dinner & watch shows etc, could even maybe move main park gate further down the street? Creating current street aswell extension for street outside of park for anyone to access? Just a few ideas? But maybe could be considered? Would love to see more inside coasters & attractions here, thinking maybe Smiler could be one rethemed into Stranger Things IP? Or maybe make more indoors around current theme, but maybe storyline updated a bit? But apart from that, this was a nice vlog, really enjoyed & yeah look forward to more in future. 😀👍

About retracking/removing coasters im really curious on what they would do with oblivion.
It’s a shame the sky ride is still closed I remember when I last went with my grandad and he absolutely loved it and managed it really well to get around the park
While we’re on the topic of The World of David Walliams Theatre, what are some memorable shows that have played at the theatre over the years? Also, I feel that that they could have returned the area with a more relevant IP, like maybe to Mattel or even DreamWorks.
