I just wanna say I've been watching your videos for a long time and I want to give props to Charlotte for the genuine effort and enthusiasm that she has developed to the part where she's becoming as natural and good at doing this as Shawn who has been an absolute tv-quality presenter for so many years. I absolutely love the new theming on The curse at Alton Manor. The atmosphere, the costumes, the RC baby carriage. I love how they used the Crypt as the entrance to the ride. Fantastic stuff, I can only hope they keep some of the actors around the queueline moving forward! Can't wait to visit the park again soon. Great vlog as always both! 😃 🎢 👻

Been waiting for this one! Agree that the retro squad needs to go now. Seems the park is pumping lots of investment into new projects and even things such as the lighting so hopefully we will see more improvements coming soon. Absolutely stunning theming from the Ride, the SFX and VFX are incredible. This ride definitely didn't disappoint. If this is the level Alton towers is getting to on theming then this park definitely has an Amazing future it really makes you think what Project Horizon is gonna look like

I used to go to Alton Towers as a kid at least twice a year with my family in the 80s and early 90s. Lots of memories of rides opening and things like the monorail being built, I was obsessed with Alton Towers as a kid! Last time I was there was in 1998 when Oblivion opened, as I then moved out and it's a bit of a pain to get to from London when you don't have a car, I've been meaning to do a hotel stay one year with my daughter for years but haven't got round to it. However watching this video make me just book a train ticket, taxi and park ticket for this Wednesday so I'm coming to Alton Towers on my own for one day, lets see how much has changed in 25 years!
Surprised you didn't hear it, but one of the new announcements on the approach to the waterfalls on the CRR says "time to face those waterfalls head on!". Why would they put that there if the waterfalls weren't returning? I think they'll return in the summer once the weather gets warmer!

I’ve been once before last Easter and I’m going again this Easter I can’t wait to ride the smiler again
I experience the curse at Alton manor today and OMG it is amazing the amount the look at and the atmosphere in there is incredible. The two John’s have done a fantastic job in just the space of 8 months and I am so glad the weird tunnel thing is just amazing. Overall I will give it a 8/10 if they filled the dead spots it would be a 10/10

Network engineer here, I was there on Saturday and noticed that they have installed new WiFi access points all over the park, there are tons of them all over the place, they are high quality devices rated for very high capacity traffic. Seems like they are preparing for public Wi-Fi in the park. This will have been a massive investment for the park, as the cabling and work needed for these devices is expensive and time consuming. Great to see!

We went today and rode the Alton Manor, we were massively underwhelmed, though we aren't avid theme park fans and did not anticipate the ride, or even realise it had such an uplift. Watching your enthusiasm for the ride and theming has made me wonder if we took it for granted really and didn'ty take the time to appreciate the effort into it.
I saw you and charlotte whilst I was in the curse of Alton manor queue. It was a very good ride. Hope you guys had a good day.
That theme tune from Congo Rapids is the thing I most remember when I first visited Alton Towers all these years ago. Nice to see it's been updated.

Enjoyed our visit yesterday and managed 4 rides on Curse. Every ride I saw something new and I think it’s going to take a lot of re rides to take it all in. Music and audio in there is awesome though.
Like I said park looks a little tired in places, smiler in particular looked dirty. Retrosquad absolutely has to go now.
Can’t wait to get in and see Emily again on my next visit!

Hello Shawn, great video excited to go and see this ride in action, I know that you record your coaster credits on excel, and so do I, I would love for you to do a series of videos/live streams showing us the list of credits and each unique story for every coaster/park on the list! This would be awesome so we could find out all of your trips and first visits to parks and so on...

I’ve said to for the past 3 years now, but I’d love for Alton to do 3/4 back to back seasons of a new flat ride each year, proper built in with tons of theming. I think it could work out quite well for them.
I love that there's a broken window on the house.
I genuinely think they could have included the retro squad rides and integrated it properly into theming of the park. They could have had a new section of the park that they made look old and rundown, but with old looking neon signs and 80s colours and actually put up a few of the temp rides with a bit of faux rusting and weather damage and themed it around an abandoned fairground semi reclaimed by nature, sort of similar to the dark forest
I love that not only is the Flume Duck is back to scare a new generation of guests (though could be placed in a new location on the ride IMO) but according to the gravestones outside, his new canon name is Uncle Duck...huh, go figure 😂😂😂

When I was at Alton Towers I didn’t notice the new speakers or anything else apart from the new flooring but I mostly noticed the Phalanx dude guarding both of them and apparently I found out that the pre show was spotted playing on the tv
Wow 🤩 It’s great to see that Alton Towers have kept the original spookiness formal glory theming from Duel with additional elements features throughout including the audio that enhances the spooky eery atmospheric vibe experiences, Alton Towers have gone way above beyond with their impressive major projects working progress, I’m really excited but confused right now with mixed information with the new attraction The curse, some people are saying it’s family friendly others are saying it’s the ride just for adult with devil evil content entertainment hmm 🤔 if you can Shawn please can you clarify this, I trust you as your a theme park enthusiast with so much knowledge and experience cheers 🥂 Shawn great vlog as always

Omg the queue line, Took me right back to 1992. HH opened on my first trip to Alton towers when I was little I remember reading all the grave stones with my bros! wild to see the full queue line open again. So sad to miss the opening day but my girl friend was on call at the hospital, we are looking forward to going together soon!

I've not heard of new divisional director Bianca before, but from what I'm seeing in the park there's definitely some changes going on. New management is maybe just the shot in the arm Alton Towers needs.

Great video Shawn!!! I love Alton Towers but one of my biggest problems with not just Alton towers but the Merlin parks in general. The opening times are really poor. I don't think Alton towers is open long enough for the size of the park it's a 2 day park really and I always find myself having to rush around because the park closes at 5 even during the summer. I know some days are open until 7 but that still doesn't really seem late enough for peak summer seasons. The park is always still busy up until close and people would be willing to stay longer especially when the weather is nice. It's something that has always annoyed me with the Merlin parks when parks in Europe stay open late and it creates a brill atmosphere. And even Oakwood does late nights and that atmosphere is great! I wish Merlin would make this change for the future because it would be brilliant.
Another good vlog, love the immersive creepy music featured in the queue line of the Curse of Alton Manors queue line. Creepy, but such a good soundtrack, currently listening to it right now, from outside. Really looks like a good addition to the resort & park itself, agreed 100% about portable flat rides, need to go as its not a funfair or travelling funfair Alton Towers, its a theme park with themed lands, which is where those types of temporary rides don't fit in at least the two next door to each other. Especially with soundtrack & music competing against each other to be heard, going to be irritating in that section for riders, aswell those who don't ride while waiting around for family members to ride. Yeah, think they need to go & think its time for new permanent flat rides in here if not? Maybe a walkthrough attraction? Dungeons can see this going in future especially with not many people going in there, not many people paying for ride / attraction, im surprised its still in operation, think can see a new coaster going here in future especially if new inside attraction is not a coaster which it could be, but I think it maybe a big indoor water ride? Maybe a flume type attraction? But if not, then could be a coaster? Talking about water rides, would love to see a flume attraction in David Walliams land, behind where Blue Building is? Built behind inside a big new show building with multiple levels, small aswell big drops. Think a new immersive themed log flume like level as Curse of Alton Manor themed storyline & level would be good in this area, but not scary & instead something like The Gruffalo at Chessington WOA? But a flume & not a circler boat ride. Think that be a good addition next, but apart from this, nice vlog, really enjoyed. Look forward to seeing more, new content & videos again soon, again really good music for new ride 2023 Curse of Alton Manor, still listening to music, very atmospheric & love it. Cheers again. 😀👍

Just to let you know Shawn that the vehicle in the lake in Katanga Canyon by the Congo River Rapids (Lazy River) is a Land Rover Discovery (1995 Model).
I know this because my father used to have one in the past when i was a 16 year old kid.
I am now nearly 44 years old.
And The Curse at Alton Manor looks absolutely fantastic.
The house facade looks more rundown & dilapidated then the Original Haunted House & that looked brilliant.
But this looks even better.
The Curse looks like a proper rundown Haunted House now more than ever, especially with the smashed themed window at the front.
And some of the grave stones are quite funny as well.

Not sure when I'm gonna go back to alton towers but hopefully it won't be as busy as this because I'm definitely going to go on this!

Some of the books in the shop for the curse were the books from the back of the ride vehicles when it was duel
