Glad to see to work on Wickerman after the small fire on that took place last week. It genuinely took me by surprise to see any sort of small fire at it, just goes to show how well trained theme park staff are. Getting everyone out of the queue quickly, and stopping it before anything else more serious could’ve happened.

apparently a source said that towers want to focus on refreshing the park first before horizon, hence the tape and painting for the smiler, not sure how true this is though

I usually take my daughter to AT we have had an annual pass for the last 5 years but we didnt renew it this year. Watchibg your vlog i am glad we didnt. Since Covid ride availability has been patchy and it doesnt look to have improved much. My daughter has a ride access pass and it has been so difficult having to pre book, plus lots of queues when you get in for a mobility scooter etc, the last time we went it was over an hour to queue when we got in which isnt really doable for us. We will keep watching though and hopefully if things improve we might sqeeze a visit in for Scarefest as we do miss our visits. Thank you for the updates!

We went for the first time on Tuesday/Wednesday, so just before your visit. The trommel wasn't working in Curse on Tuesday either. Lovely visit but agree with your points about ride availability. After coming up from the South of England to visit, it felt underwhelming at times. Highlight was X Sector, Gloomy Wood & Forbidden Valley. We noticed lots of empty cars on various rides despite long queues too. Also some areas of the park seemed a bit rundown or dirty.. but overall, a beautiful park with a lot of potential in the areas that need love. Hope they can get it all upto the same quality as Cursed, Nemesis, Smiler, etc.
Absolutely adore Nemesis, it's the rollercoaster that made me fall in love with theme parks and every single coaster I've been on since. Now have a custom hoodie with a photo of the loop and I'm always excited when I get to go on it. The rollercoaster that is such an AMAZING experience every time without fail and just always never fails to make me smile. Love Nemmy so much! ❤❤ Great vlog as always x

I think hours are so poor, that it's a case of leave it until Oktoberfest weekends (7pm) or Scarefest (not Saturdays). Even 6pm in summer makes Alton one of the earliest closing major theme parks on Earth. If you were travelling from abroad, it would be so jarring to visit Europe and then come to what is a famous place, and find it closing so early on top of poor availability.

18:14 I ALWAYS wait for the front (providing the queue isn’t too long). Personally, Icon has the best front row for me. You definitely feel it more, and you get better views. I would love to do front row for a big one, but it’s often a bit too big for me. It's not worth it as muxh when it's not a launch coaster. I've also had a front row on nemesis reborn, nemesis, and the smiler, and those were amazing.
After a particularly frustrating day at AT in June 2022, with the help of your vlogs, I started planning several European trips with my family. In the last 18 months, we've experienced Europa Park, Phantasialand, Toverland, Walibi Belgium and Holland, Plopsaland, Parc Asterisk, Eftelling, and Energylandia. Ride availability has always been exceptional on our visits to these parks. On August 2nd, we visited Thorpe Park for the first time, and at 10.20, Hyperia, Nemesis Inferno, Stealth, and Swarm were all closed. We ended up having a good day but my initial impression wasn't great. It does beg the question of whether ride availability is connected to Merlin Group's financial woes.
I'm going to be there for the first time ever in a couple of days, so it's great to watch this so I can have an idea of what should be open and what's gonna be closed and what shows things there are. Thanks guys!💜
Seems you picked the right day to go.Tues+Weds were the worst days we've ever had at towers.I could list dozens of things but it would take me hours.Always been a huge supporter of the park, but it really feels to me that management simply don't care if people enjoy their visit anymore.Ride availability awful, queue times totally incorrect on the boards and app, early closing too(to fill the accomodation for early access I believe) and too many more things to mention.What really annoys me is being lied to though.Positioning people around Wicky(the path under Wicky was closed both days) to mislead people.I wanted to know on Tuesday if it would be open Wednesday and the guy lied to me saying it's daily maintenance which each ride has to undergo blah...some company line they've been told to say.Really annoyed.Half the rides were down half the time, Rita didn't open until 1pm on Tuesday, with the cable cars STILL down, Hex STILL unavailable and now Wicky unavailable they should be making sure everything that can be open IS OPEN and is open ON TIME.sorry guys, rant over.

I love your vids because I have been able to go to Alton towers since summer of 2022 and we had a day in school where we could have gone to Alton towers but I sadly didunt get it so I enjoy watching because it just let me see the park and just allows me to know more information I can tell others if needed to so thank you (I hope you had a good day)
We visited the day after you guys on the Friday and Smiler was running but had a few issues through the day. We managed (with three families of 4) to get on, in order; Nemesis, Galactica, Nemesis Sub-terra, Runaway mine train, Gongo river rapids, Oblivion, Th13teen, Rita, Nemesis (again), Battle Galleons, Smiler (fast pass purchase), Oblivion (again), Spinball whizzer. Arrived at the car park at 8.30, left the car park at 19.10! A proper good day out.
I always find cbeebies land to be much busier in the morning and quieter in the afternoon. Also when you can bring toddlers any time, avoiding school holidays is something i would do.
I throughly enjoy all your theme park vlogs as you give me fantastic information about the rides and I get a feeling that I'm at the theme lark with you. I'm so looking forward to returning to theme parks again soon and I have Alton Towers on my list to go to as I have never been there

The donner and chicken kebab wrap in a naan bread in the dark forest area opposite Rita is UNREAL. Me and my partner got one around 10 pound per wrap at like 11am and kept us both full the entire day even for a night time ride on the new nemesis! if you've forgot your packed lunch highly recommend. Me and my partner both huge fans and were gutted we missed you that day hahahah
I’m so happy with my visit to Alton towers been here for the 5&6 of August and managed to get my nemi reborn hoody and got on oblivion for the first time and am going on the smiler for the first time today! My daughter is 8 and is gutted we missed you by one day. We were there from Ireland on Friday and Saturday. She was keeping an eye out for you. I’ve been going to Alton towers since the early 80s. She loves it. She has to watch your videos to keep up with the latest developments.
Nail on the head regarding food, we visited for 2 days this week & the only thing we purchased was an ice cream. Would have bought something later in the day but the early close forces you to snack during the day and eat out after leaving the park. The water park hours were also baffling, shutting the outdoor pool at 4pm on one of the warmest days of the year 🤯 Would love to have had the chance to cool off in the pool after a day in the park. Great vlog as always!
Went to Alton towers on Saturday, and I had a bit of a disappointing day, all the rides had a hour queue. Spinnall whizzer closed all day due to maintenance. 13 was evacuated from the bottom of lift hill 1. Rita and Nemesis reborn beat me up somehow, had head banging on galacticia, but I do have a few funny moments: conga river rapids got me absolutely SOAKED😂 and Flávio’s fabulous fandango in one row got me squeezed even though I was on the right hand side, and I did enjoy oblivion and 13, when it was open! Overall I had a 5 out of 10 day!
We are off to Alton towers on the 17th and hoping to bump into you guys! We have purchased some fast passes to avoid the queues! We have a 4 hour journey there and 4 hours home in the same day, so thought we’d go all out and get as many rides in as possible 😅
We were lucky to visit Alton towers on the 19th -21 July and stay in one of there tree houses . The galactic gate was open at 9 on the Saturday and also nemises reborn open at that time . We were able to get 3 rides done with hardly any queuing and the ride was awesome . Best ride ever . X
I was there at the same day! I talked to a smiler member and he said that smiler was having maintenance but will open in 2 - 3 days And for wicker man Apparently someone dropped a vape into the track and when the second tram came along it run it over and it set on fire The person who dropped the vape has since been banned and wicker man won’t open for roughly 6 weeks :/ I got a smiler shirt tho soooo
Ride Availability does need improving majorly especially in the morning I would suggest they start earlier to get the rides prepped for 10:00. But we can only hope it does improve soon
Cant believe I didnt manage to see you since I went that day, managed to get caught up in the rapids queue and left at 2pm because almost nothing worthwhile was open
We went Friday and stayed over. We had a great day but I don't think I will go back till skyride is open as it is a lot of walking especially in the heat
IMO im avoiding going back to AT until Wicker Man is back up and running. Given how expensive it is for a family of four, I wouldn't waste my money without that ride. We all love it x
Such a shame that arguably the best theme park in the uk has such poor opening hours, love coming every year but it's a 5 hour journey which is a lot for such a short day. Loving the vlogs as always guys and hope your both well
I agree, a park of this caliber should better. It pushes people to buy fast track options because realistically, even on a 6pm close your only going to get 5 maybe 6 rides on all coasters, majority of the day is spend standing in a que. Ive always loved alton towers but in recent years I tent to avoid it
Was supposed to go next week but they run out of Ride Access Passes. So I can't go. Sad Hex is still not open it's my favourite ride. Cable cars not open. Wickerman down. I'm glad I changed it to September now. The only other ride I will go on is nemesis and the rapids.
We went a couple of weeks back during school trip season, and the ride availability upon opening was awful. Only Rita was open at 10! Still, on a positive note, the Rollercoaster Restaurant experience was brilliant, followed by an excellent front row ride on Nemmy. Great Vlog 👍
We were there on this day too and loads of big rides shut so that meant big queues on those that were open. We went on 28th July and had an awesome day, loads of rides open and queue times not big.
Love the august vlog Shaun and Charlotte - I really think the area where Gangsta Granny should be a classic funfair area which appeals to families and kids that are a bit too old for the Cbeebies Land area. It really is a good space there at Alton Towers and hopefully in the future they do something with it!
It's a difficult balancing act with theme parks and close times, particularly when it's pay to enter then ride all day. The longer opening of course means higher costs, electricity, staff etc, and looking at the vlogg they probably called it right to say 5pm, as it didn't look that busy they will also have good data from many years to predict when the highest amount of customers come to the park and as its the full school holidays many have probably gone away from the UK for holidays. And also with rides out of action they will cut back opening time

The time towers is open to in the summer holidays is shocking. Gardaland is open til 11pm in the summer yet for some reason Merlin close their Uk parks ridiculously early. 7pm for Thorpe is slightly better but it should really be at least 8/9pm for all of them in summer!
I hope you enjoyed your honeymoon. Great vlog! Alton Towers seem to be busier than usual, but near where I am the attendance of thorpe park and chessington have been down massively - most queue times are under 45 minutes. It might be due to the cost of living crisis, or simply that there is less appeal to theme parks in the south and south-east.
I really like the pizzas from the new mobile food shacks at X sector. My partner and kids like their burgers and chips, although there was a long wait from ordering to getting their food.
My kids prefer Drayton Manor over cbebbies land.. Alot off families I know seem to prefer Drayton manor now…. Thomas Land is incredible, Lots more rides!!!! Love your videos btw!!
I went in June where it was quite quiet because of school but I’m going in August so hopefully i can get at least 1 ride on all the coasters! And hopefully I’ll go on the smiler for the first time!
We went to AT at the end of July, first Friday after school broke up with my 5yo. CBeebies was a semi hit with my daughter. Longest queue was for treetop adventures (40 min), and Octonauts kept having issues with the auto release on the lap bars so kept closing. I was really keen to get here this year because next year she’ll likely be too old, and then she’ll be in the awful in between ages. She loved Heave Ho, battle galleons and Mine Train. Didn’t even make it to gangster granny area (more because i forgot 🙈) or any of that side of the park, which is a shame. We had a parent queue pass it only got on Nemesis Reborn. Really could have done with the 6pm closure, I missed out on galactica with the 5pm queue closure because a 10 minute queue as listed. Park didn’t seem too busy and overall we had a good day. I had my 4mo baby in tow too and Alton towers could certainly do something to improve the feeding rooms. Daughter found forbidden valley area quite scary, definitely glad I didn’t take her curse of Alton manor! 😂 Desperately need Hex back for more family suitability rides for those who have outgrown CBeebies.
I went for a 2 day visit not long ago, no rides were open for the 10am said time, the odd one opened around 11 understandably some issues may have happened but the 2nd day none opened before 11:30, and most of the staff at the front of the rides were telling customers to move away from the ride area and go elsewhere, I do understand trying to stop the area getting so busy but it left everyone at a state of confusion as you can understand we didn’t all want to go and swim with the swans until a ride actually opened 😂
The new Greg the sausage roller coaster soon,Mark and roxy ladbaby are taking over the runaway mine train kids coaster for national roller coaster days 16th and 17th august 😅❤

I would say Alton Towers is in a transition phase at the moment new management only came in 2 years ago and so that is very little time to turn the park around they have put projects in place to improve the park the south west section of the park WoDW, Fountain Square and Alton Towers Dungeon needs major work and it will take time for new improvements to come.
yeah, the price and the fact i never know if the food im gonna get is gonna be nice makes me push to buy a tesco meal deal for theme parks lol, i still treat myself to treats like doughnuts but i think merlin need to find a better food provider imo.
My favourite place on park is still definitely coach house confectionery, the prices are not too bad and the food is outstandingly delicious. We had purchased the ice cream in the plastic doll cup only for £8 but that was with the Merlin discount. Plenty of food options on park but we will also be doing a food vlog soon!
This is probably very unlikley but id love to see a Scarfest style museum be placed in the Dungeons building as they already have the spooky horror theming but they could set some different seasons up based on the different scare mazes that used to be at the park for the event across the years and have actors from them mazes. It would be a nice throwback and mean some people can experience a little bit of an old scare maze. It doesnt have to be called a scaremaze but can be more of a museum style walkthrough but still with the themed room and actors!
most of the rides opened up really late on Wednesday as there didn't open up till 12 and 1pm for some rides that lead to big queue times for rite conga and other rides due to late opening and it was a shame the curse at Alton didn't get much love that day was it was a straight wake on but due to no one going on it they end up closing it early for the day i just hope they do fix the problem with ride capability and opening on time with the lack of rides so the guest do get the money worth for they visits.
We love CBeebies land but haven’t been for a couple of weeks as we thought it would be so busy! My little boy is 2 and goes on everything so will definitely be going soon x
We taking our daughter for the 1st proper time on the 10th August. She did go with her school a couple of weeks ago by the time they got there they got on 1 ride. So she's very excited to go on the 10th

My daughter is 8 and is gutted we missed you by one day. We were there from Ireland on Friday and Saturday. She was keeping an eye out for you. I’ve been going to Alton towers since the early 80s. She loves it. She has to watch your videos to keep up with the latest developments.

Nail on the head regarding food, we visited for 2 days this week & the only thing we purchased was an ice cream. Would have bought something later in the day but the early close forces you to snack during the day and eat out after leaving the park.
The water park hours were also baffling, shutting the outdoor pool at 4pm on one of the warmest days of the year 🤯
Would love to have had the chance to cool off in the pool after a day in the park. Great vlog as always!
We would much rather take our own food and eat when we get home or somewhere out of the resort!

Went to Alton towers on Saturday, and I had a bit of a disappointing day, all the rides had a hour queue. Spinnall whizzer closed all day due to maintenance. 13 was evacuated from the bottom of lift hill 1. Rita and Nemesis reborn beat me up somehow, had head banging on galacticia, but I do have a few funny moments: conga river rapids got me absolutely SOAKED😂 and Flávio’s fabulous fandango in one row got me squeezed even though I was on the right hand side, and I did enjoy oblivion and 13, when it was open! Overall I had a 5 out of 10 day!

I remember the swan boats, it was one of the few rides my parents would go on including the log flume and the original dark ride 😅

We are off to Alton towers on the 17th and hoping to bump into you guys! We have purchased some fast passes to avoid the queues! We have a 4 hour journey there and 4 hours home in the same day, so thought we’d go all out and get as many rides in as possible 😅

We were lucky to visit Alton towers on the 19th -21 July and stay in one of there tree houses . The galactic gate was open at 9 on the Saturday and also nemises reborn open at that time . We were able to get 3 rides done with hardly any queuing and the ride was awesome . Best ride ever . X

I talked to a smiler member and he said that smiler was having maintenance but will open in 2 - 3 days
And for wicker man
Apparently someone dropped a vape into the track and when the second tram came along it run it over and it set on fire
The person who dropped the vape has since been banned and wicker man won’t open for roughly 6 weeks :/

Ride Availability does need improving majorly especially in the morning I would suggest they start earlier to get the rides prepped for 10:00. But we can only hope it does improve soon

We went Friday and stayed over. We had a great day but I don't think I will go back till skyride is open as it is a lot of walking especially in the heat
IMO im avoiding going back to AT until Wicker Man is back up and running. Given how expensive it is for a family of four, I wouldn't waste my money without that ride. We all love it x

I agree, a park of this caliber should better. It pushes people to buy fast track options because realistically, even on a 6pm close your only going to get 5 maybe 6 rides on all coasters, majority of the day is spend standing in a que. Ive always loved alton towers but in recent years I tent to avoid it

Was supposed to go next week but they run out of Ride Access Passes. So I can't go. Sad Hex is still not open it's my favourite ride. Cable cars not open. Wickerman down. I'm glad I changed it to September now. The only other ride I will go on is nemesis and the rapids.
We went a couple of weeks back during school trip season, and the ride availability upon opening was awful. Only Rita was open at 10! Still, on a positive note, the Rollercoaster Restaurant experience was brilliant, followed by an excellent front row ride on Nemmy. Great Vlog 👍

We were there on this day too and loads of big rides shut so that meant big queues on those that were open. We went on 28th July and had an awesome day, loads of rides open and queue times not big.
It wasn’t the best day sadly!

Love the august vlog Shaun and Charlotte - I really think the area where Gangsta Granny should be a classic funfair area which appeals to families and kids that are a bit too old for the Cbeebies Land area. It really is a good space there at Alton Towers and hopefully in the future they do something with it!

It's a difficult balancing act with theme parks and close times, particularly when it's pay to enter then ride all day. The longer opening of course means higher costs, electricity, staff etc, and looking at the vlogg they probably called it right to say 5pm, as it didn't look that busy they will also have good data from many years to predict when the highest amount of customers come to the park and as its the full school holidays many have probably gone away from the UK for holidays. And also with rides out of action they will cut back opening time

The time towers is open to in the summer holidays is shocking. Gardaland is open til 11pm in the summer yet for some reason Merlin close their Uk parks ridiculously early. 7pm for Thorpe is slightly better but it should really be at least 8/9pm for all of them in summer!

I hope you enjoyed your honeymoon. Great vlog! Alton Towers seem to be busier than usual, but near where I am the attendance of thorpe park and chessington have been down massively - most queue times are under 45 minutes. It might be due to the cost of living crisis, or simply that there is less appeal to theme parks in the south and south-east.

I really like the pizzas from the new mobile food shacks at X sector. My partner and kids like their burgers and chips, although there was a long wait from ordering to getting their food.
My kids prefer Drayton Manor over cbebbies land..
Alot off families I know seem to prefer Drayton manor now…. Thomas Land is incredible, Lots more rides!!!!

I went in June where it was quite quiet because of school but I’m going in August so hopefully i can get at least 1 ride on all the coasters! And hopefully I’ll go on the smiler for the first time!

I'm going to alton towers! On Thursday to Friday! I'm so scared but I I'm so exited! What's you favourite ride?
We went to AT at the end of July, first Friday after school broke up with my 5yo.
CBeebies was a semi hit with my daughter. Longest queue was for treetop adventures (40 min), and Octonauts kept having issues with the auto release on the lap bars so kept closing. I was really keen to get here this year because next year she’ll likely be too old, and then she’ll be in the awful in between ages.
She loved Heave Ho, battle galleons and Mine Train.
Didn’t even make it to gangster granny area (more because i forgot 🙈) or any of that side of the park, which is a shame.
We had a parent queue pass it only got on Nemesis Reborn. Really could have done with the 6pm closure, I missed out on galactica with the 5pm queue closure because a 10 minute queue as listed.
Park didn’t seem too busy and overall we had a good day.
I had my 4mo baby in tow too and Alton towers could certainly do something to improve the feeding rooms.
Daughter found forbidden valley area quite scary, definitely glad I didn’t take her curse of Alton manor! 😂
Desperately need Hex back for more family suitability rides for those who have outgrown CBeebies.

The Nemesis helicopter has a few AV racks inside with amps etc running the area audio systems. I guess it's got a bit hot in there hence the Ac!

I went for a 2 day visit not long ago, no rides were open for the 10am said time, the odd one opened around 11 understandably some issues may have happened but the 2nd day none opened before 11:30, and most of the staff at the front of the rides were telling customers to move away from the ride area and go elsewhere, I do understand trying to stop the area getting so busy but it left everyone at a state of confusion as you can understand we didn’t all want to go and swim with the swans until a ride actually opened 😂

I would say Alton Towers is in a transition phase at the moment new management only came in 2 years ago and so that is very little time to turn the park around they have put projects in place to improve the park the south west section of the park WoDW, Fountain Square and Alton Towers Dungeon needs major work and it will take time for new improvements to come.

yeah, the price and the fact i never know if the food im gonna get is gonna be nice makes me push to buy a tesco meal deal for theme parks lol, i still treat myself to treats like doughnuts but i think merlin need to find a better food provider imo.

My favourite place on park is still definitely coach house confectionery, the prices are not too bad and the food is outstandingly delicious. We had purchased the ice cream in the plastic doll cup only for £8 but that was with the Merlin discount. Plenty of food options on park but we will also be doing a food vlog soon!

This is probably very unlikley but id love to see a Scarfest style museum be placed in the Dungeons building as they already have the spooky horror theming but they could set some different seasons up based on the different scare mazes that used to be at the park for the event across the years and have actors from them mazes. It would be a nice throwback and mean some people can experience a little bit of an old scare maze. It doesnt have to be called a scaremaze but can be more of a museum style walkthrough but still with the themed room and actors!
We had a caravan rally there in 1978 before there were any rides except a carousel and bumpy slide.
most of the rides opened up really late on Wednesday as there didn't open up till 12 and 1pm for some rides that lead to big queue times for rite conga and other rides due to late opening and it was a shame the curse at Alton didn't get much love that day was it was a straight wake on but due to no one going on it they end up closing it early for the day i just hope they do fix the problem with ride capability and opening on time with the lack of rides so the guest do get the money worth for they visits.
