    For whatever reason the free option that I show doesn't work on cars with the 5.7 It'll only work on 19 and up 6.4s and Hellcats.

      I have a 17 392. So I assume the Free method you remove the spring from the casing and screw it back on? That way it can’t twist the valve that’s wired? I have a rattle and it’s annoying.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@erikleach1753 my guess is it's something to do with the programming. While 6.2s and 6.4s went through some changes in 2019 they must not have made changes for the 5.7s. But again that's just my guess. So far everyone I know that's tried it with a 5.7 has said the check engine light comes on

    I have a new, Scat Pack, Shaker Challenger and I opened the actuator servos, removed the springs, *zip-tied* the valves open (way better/easier than wire) and bolted the servos back on... 20 minutes, soup to nuts and it runs fine with no code Absolutely no problems and it sounds terrific! 😊

      Zip ties might be easier, but I wouldn't say better personally. I'm going to trust metal being next to a hot exhaust more than I would plastic, but I know others that have used zip-ties too, I just wouldn't myself. Glad the free method worked for you too and thanks for watching

    Now I know why I had so many problems with the active exhaust system on my 2016 SRT 392. Had a borla exhaust and once added the check engine light stayed on. Purchased a kit from active exhaust solutions which was a nightmare. Bulky and difficult to install and it never worked correctly. I ended up selling the car after literally driving around for 3 years with the check engine light on! Looking to buy a wide body Scat with shaker now so I'm glad that there is a much better alternative with the Z automotive kit. Thanks for sharing

    Great content Chris! What a pain in the ass...lol I was going to get a new catback for my 2021 Challenger Scat, but I would imagine I will have to get this Mod so it doesn't throw a code. It sounds better in "inactive" version for sure. I seen a Scat owner using zip ties, not sure if I would trust that to hold the valves open.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've seen people use zip ties too, I've seen melted plastic under cars too often to trust them, especially when put directly onto hot parts. It depends which catback system you want to get. A lot of them that are made specifically for these cars are made to address the inactive exhaust. Some will have their own valves built in to where you use the stock actuators, others will have a mechanical delete built-in.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just for something extra at idle and low rpms, so that it sounds more like it does during a cold start. Even if you get the mid muffler delete or swap them, the valves are still there and active, so although it'll be louder overall, it'll still quiet itself down. In a later vid I did the free delete on a friend's car who did have the mid mufflers replaced because he didn't like how it was quieted down by the valves.

I can see it not being worth paying for a delete kit, unless it's the Z Auto plugs so that you can get a completely different catback exhaust, or just remove it like I eventually did, or if one of your actuators go bad, in that case the Z Auto plugs would be cheaper than paying for a replacement actuator.

      I haven't been able to verify that Track or Drag mode keeps them full open, although I do believe it does. I don't need a Tazer since it doesn't really give me much I don't already have, but also I save my Drag mode for the dragstrip only. It's rare for me to put it into Drag mode on the street. Plus if you have a 2019 or newer with the 6.4 or 6.2 there's no need to pay money for a Tazer when you can wire the active exhaust open for free. 2018s and older though that should work if you want to run in Track mode all the time.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely your active exhaust valve with that code. Having that code shouldn't hurt anything, just annoying. Short term if you at least want to get rid of the rattle you could always safety wire the valve open. It won't do anything for the codes so you'll still have the light but it won't cost anything. Then it depends on what's actually broken. A mechanical delete probably won't fix the code if it is a bad actuator. In that case it's either buy a new actuator, or for about the same price as one of those you can just get the Z Auto plugs that I used here.

I haven't had any lights or codes pop up at all since I did this. And a couple of my friends that have done the free method haven't had any lights or codes either.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the light is because of a bad actuator the plugs should take care of it. Squeaking should be gone too since the valves won't be moving. You shouldn't have to remove the actuators and wire the valves, unless the actuators aren't keeping the valves still and that's the rattling you might be hearing, in which case wiring them open should definitely get rid of any noise.

      I would. It doesn't really make your exhaust any louder. It just gives you more of that cold start sound all the time. So the only time you might notice it being louder is when idling or cruising at low rpms since thats when the valves would normally be closed to quiet it down. When you're in track mode if you have it or at WOT the exhaust will sound exactly the same.

Looking at the Corsa Extreme, I see they sell them where you can re-use the complete stock valves, which involves cutting them out of the stock system, and is therefore cheaper, or you can pay more to just get Corsa's valves where you don't have to chop up the stock cat-back.

      Not dumb at all. This isn't going to make it louder like a mid muffler delete would. This only keeps the Active Exhaust valves fully open all of the time. At WOT the valves normally open up all the way, so the sound is identical with or without this delete. But when idling or just cruising along, the active valves close to quiet the exhaust down, so this delete prevents that. That's what you're gaining with this. Basically what I like to say is, you get that cold start sound all of the time since the valves also fully open up during cold starts.

Just unplug the wire from the actuator and install the Z Auto plugs and zip tie it out of the way. The actuator stays on with the spring which is what keeps the valve open. • @Scavenger1320

      All you have to do is attach the plugs to the wire connectors. Leave the actuators and springs alone since they keep the valves in full open position when not powered up.

      No flipping needed. Just remove the spring and reattach the actuator same as it was after wiring the flap. Here's another vid I did of just the free method on a buddies Challenger that might be a little clearer. th-cam.com/video/aDXoCybYRkQ/w-d-xo.html

    • @Scavenger1320

      If you get the Z automotive plugs you can do whatever you want with the actuators and no CEL light will come on. Leave them in, take them off, cut off the valves. It gives you all those options. As soon as I go to the exhaust shop I'll definitely have them cut out the valves on mine.

    • @Scavenger1320

      That sucks. Wonder if maybe there's an issue with the actual valve inside the exhaust pipe. That's the only thing that would really make sense with the valves being held in one position outside of the pipe. Best fix for that case would probably be to just get the Z Auto Plugs and cut the valves out entirely and straight pipe that portion.

    Is there any reason why you shouldn’t just buy the tazer and leave track mode on 24/7? From my understanding track mode leaves the active exhaust valves completely opened. Does it not?

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't been able to verify if track mode leaves them full open but I think it does. Mine doesn't have track mode, just drag, which I'm sure also leaves them open, but I only like to use drag mode when I'm actually on the dragstrip. Nothing wrong with leaving it on all the time, but the way these cars "learn", I'd rather not have everyday driving affect the mode for when I need it most. A lot of people I know also don't like to drive in Track/Drag all the time.

      @@Scavenger1320 do you know if the transmission mode affects the active exhaust valves? I can put on sport mode and I can make it so the drive mode transmission is normal even when in sport mode. • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe, I'm honestly not sure. I have no reason to get a Tazer and from what I know of them, 19 and newer Scats don't really benefit much from them, so the plugs would still be a cheaper option. afaik though, I think the Tazer just unlocks modes like "Track" which keeps them open, but there's no setting specifically for the AES. I just looked through the user guide on Z Automotive's site for the Tazer and I didn't see any mention of the AES in the list of features it has.

      Somewhat noticeable is how I'd describe it too, at least through the video. I had to throw on some good headphones to really hear. It's a little more noticeable in real life but not by much. Although there are some moments where you can tell that exhaust is fully open, I'd say usually in the 2K rpm range.

I hope its exhaust.. but I hear it at cold start & anytime.. .. I was gonna spray soap water on my manifolds. . & hope its that... weird though. One thing I did notice as well was the exhaust popping on cold start. Never did before I got on it.. but I think its cuz. All the exhaust got fully broken in on that trip.
    Either way she sounds like crap.. dont like it.. & do you hear anythingfrom your 1320? Lemmeknow 🙏 your thoughts

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to say without hearing it. I once had a work truck that all of a sudden sounded like someone cut off the exhaust and it was running open manifolds, I figured it was an exhaust leak, but turned out one of the cylinders blew a spark plug completely out. But that was a ford v-10, just bringing it up as an example of a time something sounded like exhaust but was something else. It sounds like its probably exhaust related but you never know.
      Being new with that low mileage, I'd take it in to the dealer for a warranty issue. If it sounds that bad, they should hear it right away, and if not, tell them to find another 392 on the lot and start it up side by side with yours. Just getting on it shouldn't cause any issues like that, and if it started doing it because you did, then whatever the problem is was already there and would of come out eventually regardless.
      My 1320 sounds perfect to me, and my first time at the drag strip I only had around 700 miles on it. I just passed 1500 miles and have made 14 passes down the 1/4 mile so far, plus I don't drive her easy either.

    Hey bro I have a quick question im getting codes u113 & u1140 on my 2018 daytona an the dealer is telling me basically its from me straight piped the exhaust so it's receiving alot of back pressure you think this will help far as removing CEL & the back pressure by keeping the vavles open?

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like your dealer doesn't know what they're talking about honestly. Those codes are saying there's something wrong with the active exhaust actuators and has absolutely nothing to do with any kind of back pressure. Did you leave the active exhaust valves and actuators in place and keep them connected? If you did check all of the connectors. A bad connector, or damaged wiring would stop the computer from communicating with the actuators which would cause those codes. Doing this active delete won't fix that until you find out what's causing it. If the actuators themselves are bad the Z Auto plugs would be a fix, but if its a connector/wiring issue none of these active exhaust delete options would do anything.
