The regular 15 this year looks like the best value of the new iPhones. You get quite a few upgrades will still pay a few hundred dollars less than the Pro models. For the average user like me that doesn’t obsess over specs, the 15 is a great choice because I would be getting mostly the same experience while also having 90 percent of the features of the Pro models. For those looking to upgrade it’s worth it more this year because of all the upgrades over the regular 14 or older models.
People think they are gonna re invent the wheel year after year. Keep your phone for 5+ years and you'll see the differences !🤣

It’s because it’s Apple and it cost more. When you realized you paid $800/900 for a 60hz screen your eyes get watery and that 60hz screen starts to look 120hz.
Average consumers cant tell the difference and wont even know what 120hz is

I really have to struggle with these impulse buy moments. All they really ever seem to upgrade with these phones is the camera and a few basic things that don't make much of a difference to me. As a pro photo/cinematographer I just never use my phone as a camera for anything other than a happy snap. If I want to take good photo's I'll pull out pro cameras and glass. I have an XR and I have to ask my self if I spent almost 2k on a new phone, would I really use it for anything more than I currently do. I'm certainly not one of those people who has to be looking at my phone every minute. I''d probably just walk away a lot poorer and with a bad case of buyers remorse.

Except for the dynamic island is still an eyesore on the TH-cam app I could not see her eyes in any frame it would be nice if they would just put some ions of top and lower the screen
They missed one thing one the red screen. The 48mp can take full 48mp or binned photos at 24mp. The 14 pros were binned to 12.
14 pro has a larger sensor and takes 48mp pro raw photos tho
Is the iPhone 12 mini -> iPhone 15 a good upgrade? Only reason I'm doing it is that the lightning port on the 12 mini stopped working.

Huge upgrade. And it’s the smallest feeling 6.1” phone apple has done.
I did this exact switch because my camera stopped focusing properly most of the time. It's a good upgrade, different enough that it feels like an upgrade, and you get usb c. (Usb c is what made me choose 15 over 14p because i have an ipad and just cared enough about using the same cable for everything). Just be ready that some apps aren't optimized yet. (they should be soon though)

I've suggestion, that probably be eliminating the dynamic island notch while watching a video in full screen, this might help a lot of people.
I wish that the iPhone 15 camera will take pics as good as my Leica Q. would love to take my Q to travel. But a phone that can do it is much more more convenient.

The dynamic island needs an 'Atlantis Mode' ....it's so intrusive when watching a video.

Still not enough for me to upgrade from my mint condition (and mint green) iPhone 11.
I *adore* the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 sleek design and very rounded corners over the 'boxy' look of the 12/13/14/15 design.
I recently purchased the Apple Battery Pack (it's completely gone off the Apple website now) and a very nice mint green colored magnetic case so I can easily keep my battery level from around 90% to 100% for an entire day. I also had the battery recently changed-out so I now am back to 100% battery health!
The iPhone 11 in the number 10 best selling phone till this day so yeah I think you made a wise choice

I have 11 pro max 256gb also in mint condition, finished my plan July 2022 didn't like what any of the 14 range was offering, wait for this year 15 range so far liking 15 plus will see what my carrier will offer. If I don't like will wait until this time next year. Use personal hotspot for everything battery capacity 78% software upgrade iOS 17 yesterday.

Just keep using the iPhone 11 it’s a great phone and it got iOS 17 and it will get security updates all this year and so I think you’re right I just keep it … I think it’s the smart move

Since Steve Jobs passed, Apple has stopped comparing its products to the competition in its keynotes. This show the shift in the company. Steve was shameless about putting the competitors on the big screen because Apple products were so much better. And it was true. iPod was way better than the competition, then the iPhone blew away anything close, the macbook air was the best laptop by far etc... Now it's been years since Apple has had a "by far better" product (except for the M1/2 chips). The product vison is dead, now it's just a bunch of engineering teams making incrementals upgrade in their department and a management focused on maximizing stock price through rse etc
I agree with you wholly , that’s not to say these phones are bad though , just not “far and away better” than the competitors like they used to be. I still prefer the iPhone over androids.
The smart phone has already been close to perfect. Blazing fast speed, amazing camera, and very easy to use. Apple is working on a VR headset and probably more behind the scenes
Apple stopped being hardware focused since the M1, most of its new features are software/ quality of life features. Which I think is okay because apple does most of them better than any competitor

i have a 14 pro and want to get the regular 15, the 15 will have the same brightness and dynamic island as the 14 pro but the 15 will weigh less and the camera will be less protrusive, with the same resolution, 120hz will be gone but i dont use that much anyways, just a waste of battery

@@MatthewVlossak ive had mine since february and its still at 97%, with the optimized charging turned off, battery life is still great but yea the weight of the phone just irks me, please the MASSIVE camera bump
@@CJ-vq5tg Consider yourself luckily! I’ve had mine since last year’s launch and it’s at 88% which is embarrassing since my friends’ 12 and 13 Pro’s have better battery life and they’re older phones. The weight and camera pump are the reasons why I’d love to go to the 15. I use an iPad Mini 6 and the 60hz refresh rate so the regular 15’s 90hz wouldn’t bother me though 120hz is smoother. I barely utilized the 14 Pro’s ProRAW too.

@@CJ-vq5tg Yup. Both of those have 60hz. Supposedly, Apple will bring 120hz to the regular iPhone’s in years to come but who’s to say when that is. As for the charging question, 95% of the time I use the Apple 20w wall charger overnight with optimized battery turned on. But if I’m traveling and need a charge, I use my Anker one.

The USB-C ports on my Macbook Pro tend to drop attached devices. I hope the port on the iPhone 15 is far more reliable.

People going on about the 60hz screen. I broke my 14 pro and had to go back to an iPhone XS for a month (im getting a 15 next week) and it’s barely noticeable. The iPhone is so well integrated with its software even on a 5 year old phone it’s hard to tell the difference.
Main thing I want it for is the always on display. I have it on my Galaxy S23 and that makes me really wish I had it on my 13 mini (especially with the new nightstand mode in IOS 17).
Then it should cost like 60hz phone. 799 is not a reasonable price for this phone. You can't deny that.

@@JelaniSuper So the 14 Pro I have I noticed you can do this ONLY if it’s shot in the portrait mode. It won’t automatically shoot a portrait like the 15’s in the native camera. You can go back and edit the focal strength. I just used it the other day.
@@randellesepillo6344 I upgraded from the 12 Mini to the 14 Pro last year. I miss the form factor of the 12 Mini, but definitely do not miss the battery. I always had to bring a charger and or external battery with me everywhere. The regular 15 is a 14 Pro Lite without the refresh rate (Not a deal breaker tbh) and third camera lens which isn’t a big deal either. I barely use 3x’s zoom. I’d upgrade to the regular 15 and save some $. Esp. for the lighter weight.

I needed a new phone last month, boyfriend surprised me with 14promax, and I love it!….but I was bummed bc I woulda rather waited for the 15. But after watching videos and reading and researching I’m no longer upset about it and actually glad I got the 14prmax instead of the 15. 14 pro max has better features than the baseline 15 and the few things the 15 is better in are so insignificant to me (personally) I wouldn’t have noticed anyways. Even the processing chips are the same in the 15 vs 14promax.

Unfortunately 'always on display' are not on it. Love that features. That potrait mode on the main camera already with androids phone years ago. not new. Iphones are way behind.

@@Mark-uk8wz it has literally no purpose, it doesn't stop battery running out in fact it drains it quicker. The customisability options are horrific and you can't even use photos in always on
@adamxnia Battery drains slower on Android because of no photos and you can use widgets on the AOD on android, even shortcuts such as torch. iOS AOD tells the time, looks pretty and that's it. Android is way ahead

Why hasn't Apple brought Smart HDR5, 24mp pics and Next Generation Portraits to the iPhone 14 Pro through a software update? Since the iPhone 15 has the same processor (A16 Bionic), there is no justification for the iPhone 14 Pro not having these new technologies.
cause 14pro has been dropped, no incentive to do it, and if they do it, more people will buy second hand or remaining stocks instead of 15.

My wife has an 11, and my 13 is absolutely a big upgrade from that. A 15 would be a huge upgrade. The screen alone would be a huge upgrade. LCD vs OLED.

Zzzzzzz these people going on about 60hz screen. I’ve used 120hz on androids and it still stutters hahaha. Never noticed this on iPhones with 60hz. Much more smoother and optimised

Instead of lying to the customers, apple should reduce the price. They are producing their goods on a large scale. That should lower the cost of production. Dead spots on my old Android phone screen looks like a dynamic island. It is what it is.

I Think This phone So Many Overrated! Only one company in the world who earns 7x the cost of a phone. There is nothing in this phone that other phones don't have. The Apple company is only now running on name. They release the same phone every year, name it and change the chip. They don't want their phones to be affordable by selling them at low prices. Apple keeps everyone curious. Buying this phone means luxury as far as I'm concerned 😑
