I agree with not upgrading every year. I personally had a 11 and just got the 15 pro makes it feel like a big jump in features.
It is quite a jump. If you went with the 13 pro, it'd have been an upgrade, but you'd definitely have that feeling that the whole experience is a little hollow and unnecessary. Instead you're fully enjoying your purchase because it's well worth it.

@@dikni1390 my brother has both, and IMO 15 pro is better. i believe the features on the S24 are gimmicks that are fun to use for a week, but you'll forget about them shortly after, and don't forget about how damn big it is, makes you feel like you're holding a damn brick.

I got my 15 Pro yesterday and he’s absolutely right. In terms of YoY, it’s nothing special, but compared to my Xs I upgraded from, the difference is astounding.

I upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro today, coming from an iPhone 12 and honestly. It’s not so bad, I’m actually really liking it so far I love the bezels I love how nice the screen looks, I love the camera it looks great with the beautiful cinematic mode on video recording and the brand new little bar for notifications on the top still excited to see what other features this new phone is hiding but for one full day of use got to say I’m pleased and satisfied with my upgraded.

This intro animation was a step above most of the other ones I’ve seen you guys make (although all of them are great), it was absolutely awesome!
It is better than Apple's. Absolutely flawless photography, music, animation and editing.
I think his latest story on Insta is from the guy who made the animation. Wonderful job from him!

It took 1 min 40 minutes to get to the actual review. The intro is annoying. Huge fan of mkbhd but he's moving in the wrong direction, over stylizing more often and filling vids with less actual content

I went iPhone 15 pro from S22 max.
After a month:
Battery seems better than I was getting with my S22 Ultra. I was expecting it to be worse but it has easily outperformed it. I’m not playing games. Primarily browser, audio, TH-cam and camera.
I do not miss the larger screen.
I do NOT miss the fingerprint reader. Face ID is excellent and it allows me to use a glass screen protector.
It is always smooth and apps like both the ones I use for my 2 cars (VW and ford for a Mach E) definitely work better and more consistently.
I’m impressed.
What about the heating issues, has it been a problem?

Your production quality is taking the same approach as Porsche or Apple, just getting slightly better with every video. The opening scene with animations, the subtle C light in the back when talking about the USB port. Amazing. Well done

You are a great reviewer - one of the best I've come across. The videos are arty, fun and informative but the biggest draw to you is your complete honesty and practical approach to reviewing these products. You are totally right about these new product releases - let's face it Apple and the rest of them want to you want to buy a new device every year but unless you review for a living it's really not necessary especially with what the listed changes/improvements are yearly. Also - I like the fact that you are not gimmicky or flashy - just tell it like it is. Really appreciate that. And you are very good at explaining the higher "tech" hardware and software upgrades and the use in the real world (especially to people who might be "age" challenged.
Writing this as I sit in my vehicle typing on my new iPhone 15 Pro Max I just bought. I’m coming from an 11 Pro Max that I’ve had since it came out. Everything you said and your main point overall is extremely spot on. I think people have oversight at times on trying to justify buying a new phone each year but that was never really practical anyway. Truth is when I get an Apple product it’s an investment and something I plan to keep for a 3-4 year period. My point is coming from and 11 pro max this 15 feels light years ahead. From the smaller “notch” to the overall “feel” IFYKYK

I went from 10S to 15 Pro, not much different but my phone had dying battery and slower charging, needed repairs, and I don’t think future iOS will support the 10 anymore, it’s proper upgrade it’s been 5 years, it was time

My mom got me this phone as a present and honestly it’s such a pleasure and luxury to have. I’m extremely grateful had a 12 in good condition but the battery was always dying cuz of how long I had it for,this tho the battery is crazy and it runs games so well

I always appreciate his honesty and constructive criticism and appreciation. I knew I wasn’t going to buy an iPhone 15 this year he helped me. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max that works just fine and from what I was looking it’s very similar to the newer iPhones just without a few things but not worth going and buying a whole new phone.
OH MY GOD that intro! This is one of the few channels that consistently makes me re-watch a scene to appreciate the amazing cinematography / animation. Absolutely incredible!

I haven’t updated iPhones in years. I always felt Apple’s “upgrades” over the years were incremental at best. So, I just held on to my iPhone XS Max since 2019 and I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max yesterday. Now I feel like I’m Captain America standing in the middle of Times Square after being sleep for 70 years with this phone.
Also, thank you, Apple, for *NOT* telling me that I needed to purchase the Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable when I picked up my phone yesterday. Because why get everything I need with my phone when I pick it up the first time when I can just make multiple trips? 👍🏽

I upgraded from the iPhone X to the 15 pro max and the jump is insane.overcoming all the lag and overheating, battery draining so fast it has definitely been what I needed.
Just did from xr myself… it’s pretty wild.

You’d see the same difference if you got a 13 pro just cause of the extra battery and 120hz

A good thing to note is that most people aren't upgrading from the 14, but the 13 or earlier, which means we also don't have Dynamic Island, an Always On Display, and all the small stuff the 14 previously had.
It really does compound over time.
Still using iPhone 7. Upgrade to 15 Pro would be pretty exciting, but I will hold on for just one more year to see if they sort out battery and overheating issues.
yeah, upgrading from 12 mini didn’t feel like it made enough sense last year but i have no qualms about it now. the 15 pro refinements are just enough for me, and i’m sure there are a lot of users that get moved to buy every 3 years or so in a similar way

As a Designer and one-man Marketing Department, the pixel-peeping, the zoom, the Camera RAW and the log video stuff are all my JAM. Today’s day 1 with this 15 Pro Max, and I already had an occasion that I HAD to shoot a video at work without notice and had to use my phone in this pinch. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about Log on here yet, and it’s gonna look VERY different than my Sony Alpha footage. 😅

Thank you for all the great information on all the gadgets. My main issue with the iPhone security is the ability others have to jailbreak your phone. I hope the next time you are with the iPhone Apple team you can bring it up. I currently have an iPhone 13 and plan on moving to an iPhone 15, but my current issue is security the ability others have to jailbreak the phone put stealth spy apps, or clone the phone. You can keep your phone updated with the most current patch. If the has been compromised it won't make a difference. So my issue is security not features but actual soft or firmware. Again thank you time you took out.
I had a Blackberry around 9 years ago and that had a customizable action button, not called exactly the same but function was exactly the same. Always missed that on all phones. 21:02

The hype for the next best thing has always been set by TH-cam reviewers. I remember the time before the internet and this kind of thing just wasn’t prevalent at all, the TH-camrs need content so they post these videos and find new ways to tell you that you don’t need to upgrade but ya want to upgrade 🤣 This video is a classic example. The ending plug for the Eight Sleep was just perfection, £2250 for a bed topper!
That intro sequence was fire.
Also, the whole video was just a great, thorough analysis (as always) - but it's so hard to make someone get chills from a phone review intro and you guys nailed it.

Why does no youtuber mention that the selfie cameras of the 15 pro / pro max models take pictures like zombies? There is an incredible difference between what you see on the screen and the image saved in the gallery. Camera is worse than Nokia 6670. I will have the 15 Pro Max tested by people passing by in front of the Apple store and then set it on fire so that the whole world will see the fraud committed on the 15 series.

I upgraded from an 11 so I had my 11 for 4 years and I am enjoying the 15. It’s definitely a significant upgrade for me. The display alone for me I can tell the refresh rate was much better. Also, could cut the lightning cable so I thought why not.

Yeah, but the thing about Porsche, at least they give you the gas tank included with the car and don’t sell it separately. Just saying 🤷🏻♂️ and I doesn’t overheat, you can repaired as you please, the next year software update will not make your car slower, and I can continue.
Also yeah I am an iPhone user, but I used with other android phone. I can’t make the final switch to apple ecosystem even though I have a MacBook Pro and an iPad, I also have a desktop PC and a windows gaming laptop.

Satellite S.O.S , fall & crash detection are THE feature game changers for me.
I solo travel, hike and climb and although trees and valleys can affect readings its better than not having any location tagging in emergencies.

The main issue I see with the Action Button is the lack of multi-purpose use without having to go into settings to change it each time. For example, on the Pixel phones, single clicking the power button will lock/unlock the phone, double-clicking the same power button will launch the camera, clicking and holding the power button will either bring up the power settings or launch the Google Assistant, and clicking the power button five times will start Emergency SOS, notify your loved ones of your location and call 911 for you. The Action Button should be able to have similar multi-purpose functionality like this.
But you can create a multipurpose shortcut for it. This shortcut can execute different actions depending on your current focus mode, current location and so on. I think I even saw a shortcut already that recognizes double clicking. Of course it would be nice if you Apple would provide this out of the box but the shortcuts offer a lot of possibilities.

I bet that this will come next year, but the power button on the iPhone already does the same thing you described except double tap is wallet and single hold is Siri.
I asked someone about my iPhone 6s heating up and they said because it’s such a small, compact phone it gets hot easy… But when I bought it new, it didn’t get hot for almost 6 months and then it started getting hot more easily. When I’m driving and it’s getting hot, I just push it into my air vent and turn on my air conditioner and cool it off that way, lol when it gets hot at home I put it in the refrigerator for five minutes. I can’t imagine being someplace like the desert on a camping trip and the phone overheating with no way to cool it down.

The Porsche 911 analogy is spot on and is the best one I’ve heard! Really helps shift my perspective to realize how reliable and performant flagship smartphones have become recently that the fact that annual updates are just iterative is just so fine, and there’s nothing to complain about.

As a car guy, I love your comparison to the Porsche refinements year-after-year. Definitely agree with the upgrades being more noticeable every 3+ years compared to always upgrading every single year

The intro is a thing of beauty and the closing sequence, with that super clean technical shot of the iPhone sat on the desk surrounded by items relevant to the new design and direction of the latest models, it just took it to the next level again. I've probably said this a hundred times already, but you folks are absolute masters at what you do, and for people like me who are very visually fixated, your imagery and editing choices are a fricking delight.
