  • My 3D printer extruder was “clicking” as filament was going through. At first, I replaced the nozzle, but that didn’t fix it. I noticed that my extruder gear was worn down from 2 years of use and was causing the filament to slip, messing up my prints.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to replace the 3D printing extruder on the Longer LK5 Pro with an upgraded aluminum version:

    Step-by-Step Guide:
    1. **Power Off and Unplug**:
    - Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged to avoid any electrical hazards.
    2. **Remove Filament**:
    - If there is any filament in the printer, heat up the hotend to soften the filament, then unload the filament.
    3. **Detach the Bowden Tube**:
    - Unscrew the fitting with the Bowden tube from the extruder and put it aside.
    4. **Remove the Old Extruder**:
    - Use the appropriate screwdriver or Allen wrench to remove the screws securing the old extruder to the printer. There might be a few screws, so make sure to keep track of them. Careful to support the extruder motor as the 4 extruder screws is what hold it in place.
    5. **Prepare the New Aluminum Extruder**:
    - Unpack the new aluminum extruder and ensure all parts are included in the kit.
    6. **Install the New Extruder**:
    - Unfortunately, the kit didn’t come with instructions, so follow this video for the installation steps.
    7. **Reattach the Bowden Tube**:
    - Screw the fitting with the Bowden tube back into the new extruder. i
    8. **Load Filament and Test Print**:
    - Turn the printer back on, load filament into the new extruder, and run a test print to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
By following these steps and watching my tutorial, you should be able to replace the extruder on your Longer LK5 Pro 3D printer with an upgraded aluminum version, improving its performance and printing efficiency. Let me know this was helpful!

Nice to see a young kid working on printers like you. As a printer mechanic i can only tell you never to stop being curious and keep on learning about printers and technics. Never let you stop by making a mistake or even worse, ruin some things. Keep your head up, keep on trying and keep on learning. Good work!
