Well done Lucy. I started cutting hair at 47. I too find Matts education videos so helpful and informative. I wish you well and hope that you enjoy your career as much as I do :)

I think it’s a prerequisite for all beauty schools to hold back really valuable information.
I graduated in 1981 and maybe shears were made differently back then, But they never taught that you only moved your thumb.
So I got out of cutting for many years. I develop back problems from stand against the letters I know how stupid is that. I kept cutting family and friends, but I finally need a new pair of shears. I ordered a nice pair and when they came they would not cut the hair they would just bend the hair. I thought that there was something wrong with my shears. I thought maybe because I buy a left handed shears that maybe they had sent me right handed shears or some thing was just made wrong with mine. I called the manufacturer to only be super embarrassed to find out that you keep your fingers completely still and only move your thumb. This was a couple of years ago. It didn’t take long to unlearn what I had been doing since 1981.
They also never taught you how to palm your scissors in beauty school.
I have developed my own system, but my shares were pointing at my client. It took a while before I learned how to undo that.
It was because of you that I learned how to Palm my shears!!!
      Thank you for that.
      I really love your videos!!
      I love FSE NOW

Might sound dumb but.... anyone experience pain in their fingers or wrist while trying to do this? I notice I'm holding mine to lose and not using my index finger to hold them down. Explains a lot with me cutting my dang finger.
