I can't believe I'm saying this with their recent design choices, but inside and out this looks *great*
Excellent as usual, Thomas. The two things that stick out and bother me are the elimination of the eight pre programmable buttons in the center, and the unnecessary and cheap looking arrows with the X5 logo on the dashboard in front of the passenger seat. Do those look cheap to you?

This looks so much better than many of the recent BMW’s. Very nice, but a little busy under the grill. Looking forward to seeing one in person.

I think they’ve done a phenomenal job, I’m more a Mercedes fan but these new models look much better than the GLE. Great review as always 👍🏻
The fact that the other models do in fact look sometimes even worse than much cheaper cars (and even less reliable than some) and people still buy BMW, is just indicative of how much power a brand holds. And how much people just want to flex.
Mercedes is the worst design ever nowadays, not like previous design or mercedes. Even other brands already much better than mercedes. Same can be said for reliability that other brands also better than mercedes

My immediate reaction was thank God they didn't give it the new X7/7 series headlights treatment. So, overall I find the facelift quite modern and aggressive, just right for the X5 image. No doubt it gets a thumbs up from me!👍

Many nice improvements but as personal choice, overall I prefer my 2021 X5 , the deal breakers are missing air conditioning physical buttons and more importantly the gear shifter lever (sorry I really dislike the new nub design). Just bought the X5 m60i and 1000% agree HATE the dials missing and the hidden switch for gears, hope nobody ever needs to reverse fast.

I think this is the most successful update BMW have released for a very long while. It shows that new BMWs can be handsome.
Compared to the IX this thing looks fantastic
BMW designs been very controversial lately, but I think that they nailed X5 and X6 lci models. Very happy about the change.
Well they didn't change it dramatically from the old design, so it still generally looks good. I think the older one looked nicer (more up market) though for some reason

Another excellent review Thomas. I’m in the UK and have just ordered the M Sport 50e, delivery late July which is surprisingly quick, sensafin seats looks great as does the pano roof - haven’t been so excited about a new motor for a long time! Cheers

The front looks AMAZING on the M-Sport package...i love the gray...i love the new i-Drive infotainment screen...BMW is truly the best , and it drives like a sedan...im currently driving a 2022 X5 with the B58...i wish the would have had the M40i like the X3's did on launch...👍👍👍

Excellent review! I have a loaded 2020 X5 M Sport that I love and while I might be envious of some of the new changes, they are not sufficient to make me regret owning mine. I am not sure how to feel about my (now obsolete) laser lights. Maybe I should just get someone to code them so I can have all the features they were designed to have(?) Thumbs up for a great job!

Thank you, Thomas for a high quality snap shot of the facelift. I drive an X5 30d (2020) and love it. The X5, IMHO is the most practical SUV I've driven- size, boot space, driving dynamics, tech, audio, reliable engines - a fabulous package. I like this facelift and I'm glad that BMW have retained some tactile elements- particularly on the steering wheel. I'm looking at replacing my current X5 with the newer one- tossing up between the M40i and the M60i. I'm quite keen to know a bit more about the M40i and I'm sure you will be comparing the models at some stage- perhaps in Q2, 2023 I suppose, all qoing well. Deep within me, I know I have a grin on my face when I hear the V8. 😂. Thanks again Thomas. Hope you are well !

I am glad they kept the I-drive controller. This shape is very susceptible to stone chips. I prefer these headlights to that of the X7. I hope the seatbelt height is adjustable this time.
I see have to get use to the curve screen didn’t realize it was so long. Overall can’t wait to get mine in all black. Great review.

It looks brilliant. Very strong sharp features for the facelift. Crisp and clear graphics. A good choice not to enlarge the grill. I love it ❤

this face lift looks really good! Especially the M sport model!
Love the new pulsating turn signals. I like the iDrive 8 screen size and implementation; although, the page with the long list of apps is overwhelming and I would think unsafe to use while driving. I would still prefer climate controls outside of the screen.
The new styling is quite nice.

Yes...I agree...curved display and iDrive 8 were features that caused us to buy pre-facelift (coming 2025) x3 M40i.
Now that what we call a nice facelift. That nardo grey is perfect!Thank you Thomas for this.😊

It is strange that Nardo doesnt appear in the Configurator, maybe special order. The data sheet defo said Nardo Grey 6 k option Individual. Brooklyn Grey has a more blue'ish note to it, but the colors are similar. I am re-checking with BMW though.
Also compare how the X7 in Brooklyn Grey looks like, afaik you can see there that Brooklyn has a more blue ish note: th-cam.com/video/1pRNkW9nrrw/w-d-xo.html
Is indeed Nardo by special order. Maybe I do prefer Brooklyn though as seen in the X7 video
@@autogefuehl I think these paint versions of what I'd refer to as "gloss primer grey" are getting overdone by auto manufacturers....what was once a unique and attractive color, now a color seemingly everyone offers. Reminds me that now "ancient" gold trim option...once that trickled down to the lowliest Toyota model...from its Mercedes origins many years ago.

The polished chrome looks good, but I still prefer the black pack to the shiny stuff. As for the seats, well they certainly do light up the cabin. But they'd scuff far too easily and would need constant cleaning. Definitely not a color for a family with small kids.
The take on infotainment, well there's no doubt there. It just looks tacked on cheap. Love the panam roof.
As for the exhaust, they are real even if the surround is an add-on. Can't wait for the driving test.

My wife’s new X7 takes getting used to for voice everything like heated seats. I want some buttons back. The steering wheel heater button could have staid on wheel. Will new X5 have off road package??? Nice job.
I love the way that BMW publishes their figures for the XDrive40i.. they keep getting more power on paper and keep claiming slower 0-60s. In reality the 2019-2023 versions were putting 330+hp to the wheels with most people getting real world 0-60 runs in the 4.9 range. If the new one really has 15% more power at the crank, this thing will be lightning fast.

Hi Thomas, great review! Are you sure that the M color is Nardo Grey and not Brooklyn Grau metallic? Can't find Nardo in the configurator.

Three points, I love this colour but am frustrated that the hybrid is not available in this colour in the U.K. Also disappointed that four wheel steering is not available in the U.K. except on the 50i model. Finally, it seems a pity that you have to order the sport model to avoid the grey plastic around the wheel arches and on the bumper.

Enjoyed your review from the BMW Welt. Brought back memories of our 2014 Welt delivery of our 328 xi Touring...Alas...no longer is BMW Welt delivery available in the U.S. We considered a 2023 x5 45e but found the size too large for our needs so opted for a 2023 x3 M40i...and will take delivery at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, SC.

Very interesting! It's an elegant upgrade of the X5 and not too "transformer-ish". The shadowline elements on windows & roof are optional even in the M Sport trim, at least in Belgium.
Love that place :) Rented an i8 a few years ago from the museum :)

The car with m performance parts looks amazing.
Thomas is the guy! Like all the new and facelifted Bmws, looks good outside (disconsidering the M3 and the new 2 series), but much worse inside; those screens are so much harder to use and also make the dash look cheap and uninspired (remember people: stick two screens is much cheaper than design and develop buttons and dashpads). I definetely won't trade my pre-facelift version for this one, I'll have to look elsewhere, to other brands, BMW designers pushed me away :(

Whoa! The design is mad! An absolute head-turner. I could never own a car with such a design, because to me it's just silly, but it's definitely bold and unique and you can never mistake this for a different brand. It's funny how Mercedes and BMW go in totally different directions design-wise. Love the heated cup holders though 😮

The new instrument screen looks very good but can’t say that about the front below the grill. Should have left it alone. Looks like just added some additional angles that are too much. I own a 2021 which I love but was looking forward to the power upgrade on the 2024 but now I doubt I’ll buy one.

Hi Thomas, nice review as always! I heard you quoted the pure EV range is ~60 miles, which is a lot higher than the ~40 miles range I've heard for the US model. Why is there always this difference? Could you please clarify? Thanks!
Thanks 🙏 hmm that might be a different consumption cycle. Battery should be the same. 60 miles is also just with optimum conditions
In the US the usable battery capacity is reduced in the software or it was in the 45e, I don’t know why but the US reviewer discussing it thought it might be to do with US warranty or legislation but that it could be opened up with software to give EU range so the battery is the same physical capacity

Hey i just ordered the X5 2024 with m sport and m sport pro package (also in Brooklyn Grey like this one). Quick question, on some videos i see the front bumper with the diffuser underneath, like the grey one in this video, and some say they have the M-package but i don't see the diffuser. Do you by any chance with which package that comes? PS Love your video! Danke :)

The top of new display seems like it doesn't align with the dash on the right side, that sort of bothers me. Also it seems like it would collect lots of dust on back side of display which is not easy to clean.
I love that you can get adaptive led headlights without going to m sport now that laws have changed in US. I think for night driving this is a game changer in night driving.

I guess the 21 22 X1 paved the design languge because on its own before it looked like a runt, now the bigger brothers adopted makes sense i like it.
