How do you compare it to Audi q8 50 tdi?
I was in a car showroom this week and I open/closed the doors twice to listen to the sound and solidity. Immediately the staff members laughed & accused me of watching too many youtube videos by Thomas on Autogefühl. I pleaded guilty as charged whilst everyone agreed your reviews are honest, informative and in the words of the song, " Simply the best "

How do you fit on streets? I was forced to slow down to a stop to make room for some X5 owners to pass. What do you, X5 owners, do when you find yourselves face to face? Reverse to the end of the street? I could never understand a 2m wide car...it has no purpose

I'd also cross shop this with the Range Rover Sport PHEV. The RRS is nice in that it has DC fast charge up to 50 kW for road trips.
Still don’t understand the logic behind the blacked out grille option. If the designers realize the signature front design element is so visually loud that it should be offered in a blackout option, maybe they should consider revising it smaller?

Great Autogefeuhl show and tell walk through the new features plus handling and practical tips. I have a 2021 X5 and it’s excellent. BMW is best value for the price and their reliability now since about 2009 to present is off the charts good, number 3 behind Toyota and Lexus which means these BMWs will live “forever” if maintained properly. Their styling is timeless for all models.

BMWs are nice but to call them great value is just wrong. For example a Skoda Kodiaq would be great value for money. Also BMW reliability is not top tier.

Can you get the Bowers and Wilkins on the 40i?
Is the 40i more of a comfortable ride than the 60i? or a 40i with msport appearance package?
BMW oversizes their bodies so much that even 22" wheels look too small
I actually think they look about right, but they don’t exactly look big either

Would love to hear your opinion on the sound systems in your reviews. You would assume that at this price point they would be incredible but in my experience that is not necessarily the case.

I picked up a new 50e at the end of April and coming from a 2017 Jeep GC Summit it is like night and day! One thing I see you didn’t cover is the different driving packages, which at 150 MPH on the Autobahn probably wouldn’t matter that much. But the ability of this wonderful vehicle using cameras, radar and other different sensers is simply amazing!!!

These new headlights with the signature are just a reminiscence of how awesome the halo lights were before. They look like the custom headlights we had in 2005 in the „tuning“ scene, with blocky leds. Just bad. Backlights are awesome though
Does it have Autobahn assistant option in the X5 like in the new 5 series or not?
At 2:32 , I have the pre face lift and the rear wheels doesn’t steer when stand still, only when moving. It’s not new in the LCI model. It’s very smart from BMW, as this car is heavy, 2.4tonnes plus.
Yeah it's just that they now already move when driving very slowly, they kinda lowered the threshold a little bit

As always great reviews and completely honest. I own the new 24 X6 M60I model and I miss the physical controls as well as the shift knob. The I8 is great but it relies too much in voice commands in my opinion.

Excellent review, can´t wait to take delivery on my X5 50e, it should come in a couple of weeks. I was choosing between the Cayenne and the BMW but the Porsche was way too expensive.

It is still good looking well driven car!!
I actually don't mind the exterior redesign and new interior tech features, it's still very standard BMW without the Beaver Tooth grill, but those new turn signals are absolutely not it with the pulsing. It's like they want to be Audi, but it looks so much worse. I also don't like that they removed so many buttons and moved everything into the touchscreen/combo driver information screen, which I also don't care for. It looks like someone took an ultrawide monitor from 2017 and glued it to the dashboard. Every manufacturer seems to be going that way, and it's never going to look good or last nearly as long as buttons. Excellent and thorough review as I've come to expect from this channel.
Really wish BMW would offer a 35-30-35 split with the middle row, instead of always having a pointless 20 in the middle, they are not a 7 seater until that's changed

I'm driving a 2024 X5 xDrive40i for the last 10 days ..
To me - Pros: Instant power at your disposal, very good gas mileage
Cons: A bit overwhelming tech, buggy Wireless Apple Carplay - had too many issues with the connection
Too many moving parts and I'm not sure how the maintenance will be for all these tech.
What are the thoughts from the @autogefuel and the viewers on reliability and maintenance costs atleast from a 2023 model perspective?
Can the pulsing effect be turned off ?

Is "pulsing" BMW's official marketing language or is that just a way of describing it? Either way, the LEDs are just imitating incandescent bulbs now.
100% agree with you
We have the current (now old) X5 45e and think it’s a fine car. The only issues I have with it is the limited leg room in the back seat and the overly firm central rear seat - the kids hate sitting in the middle on a long journey as it’s just too uncomfortable. Although the actual car is big on the outside it’s surprisingly cramped on the inside.
It’s been to the south of France many times now (just coming up three years old in Jan ‘24) and on the long drives down there it averages around 31mpg. Not too bad for a 2.5t car with 5 people on board and a full boot.
I’m not a massive fan of the new BMW dash and the car as a whole just isn’t different enough from the car we have to consider replacing it with this new model. We’ll probably change brand this time around but might consider the X5 again when the full model replacement comes out in a few years time.

I'm very interested in the 50e as I've ruled out the 45e - I like the bigger battery pack, the more HP, and the facelift. However, the price difference between 45e and 50e is so big it really makes one stop and think: does one REALLY need the newer version?
My driving would be mostly in and around the city, rather shorter and more frequent commutes, and with 1-2x a week distances of about 100km at one time. I'd prefer not to go for the purely petrol version. Would it make sense to go for 40d? Again, the price difference between a 40d (which also gives you good HPs) and the 50e is astounding...
Well, bottom line, is the 50e a sensible option? In my country there's no advantage of owning an EV/hybrid when it comes to taxation or city driving. The only advantage I think is the fact that when used for private rides (as a company car) one pays 0.25% instead of 1%. But then again, this would not be too many kilometres in a year to excuse the price difference.
What do you guys think, which is the sensible option? Cheers :)

I use voice commands pretty much for everything, especially for climate control and don't have to touch anything in screen. physical buttons would have been great addition though but not a deal breaker.
I love the fact that all the buttons on steering wheel are real.

BMW's style, one curved display fits for all is a huge step backwards. I remember cockpits e.g. from E30, E34 and E39, those were really tempting, good looking, driver focused and easy to use.
Still, can’t order the rear axel steering, it’s only available for 60i ( in Europe).

Hi Thomas. I remember owning a 2008 Buick Enclave with dual-exhaust pipes, which were connected to the tail pipes. The tips of the pipes where extemely hot, of course, and would burn skin if mistakenly touched. This may be a concern when cleaning the vehicle or opening models with sensors that open the rear hatch. I also owned a 2013 Buick Enclave, which had the same exhaust pipes, however, the tail pipes weren't connected to the exiting area. Therefore, the tempurature of the exhaust didn't matter, if the cosmetic chrome areas were touched. It wasn't no where near as cool as the 2008's. However, it was definitely safer? I now own a 2018 Buick Enclave, the exhaust pipes are connected to the tail pipes. However, I have never touched them while the vehicle is hot! I am definitely gun shy!! Do you think that may be one reason why several manufacturers may not connect exhaust pipes to the tail pipes, other than it costs them more?
The manufacturer say that they use fake exhaust to be free in design, no matter which engine it is

It's very odd this 50e has real wheel steering because you couldn't and still can't order it for the 50e and no one knows when or if it will ever be available again. Really surprised this 50e has it since the only model it comes with is the M60i, where it is standard.

@@autogefuehl I think its a prototype as I've never seen it or even heard of any other G05 LCI besides the M60i who had it. I had to order mine without it and tons if people had to as well. Theres a few who insist and had their orders pushed back to at least Q4 2023 but no one knows when or if it will ever be available again. Some dealers suspect it will be cancelled completely for the 50e.

BMW X1 looks the best so far in terms of shape and overall look. Looks more symmetrical , aggressive and elegant all at the same time.
I think if comfort and luxury is a focus, the GLE wins this generation. It is more expensive but interior looks so much better on the GLE! Lack of physical buttons on the X5 just makes it seem bland.
It seems the European versions of the M Sports have additional M badges/emblems on the sides of the vehicle near the wheel arches. The US versions of the M Sport doesn't come with these additional badges 😮
