Jim, do you think the US and the CIA consistently miscalculate the extent of tribal influence in Syria? How do the tribes populate the geographic areas and where do they align in comparison to the Sunni looked at as a "whole" but like any religion there sects more powerful than others. I am stating that we can label HTS as ISIS or Al Queda or even Jhaddhist, but to what extent are the tribes organized with future potential in the power shifting alignment. Trump is only clarifying what is the US mission in Syria ??? Is the risk worth it? The Kurds and the Syrian oil fields are the reason for the 1600 to 2,000 US troops, but what if Trump does not care about the oil fields and breaks with the Kurds?
Jim, I totally appreciate your insights and updates, but is news about Syria more important for you than what's happening here in our own Congress??? As a long time subscriber and supporter your work, I am confounded as to why you would give an update on what's happening halfway around the world rather than the battle over the CR currently being waged here in the US?🤦
