      I don’t think you should be so hard on us British. Firstly it was a question of high policy about which the people at large knew nothing. Secondly a statesman’s job is to balance competing interests but to look after his own state first. I don’t buy the contention of this film that the British were deluded about the extent of influence that Weisman’s people might have. We can only speculate about what this influence might have been used for. Possibly to move opinion in the USA behind the war. Balfour’s letter did not promise a homeland and it provided a safeguard for the Palestinians. Many foreign officers took their task of safeguarding Palestinians very seriously. They were eventually overwhelmed by the Irgun and other terrorists. Britain’s whole imperial edifice was collapsing.
      Unfortunately when you are in charge you get the blame.

      Israel was a totally independent country before the Ottomans muslim land grabbers stole the jewish lands. Then came the Balfour declaration that the Jews deserves.     I am a British and Canadian "citizen " living in South East Asia since the 70s and I stand with Justice for the people of Palestine! I am also appalled and disgusted by how the British Empire, the royalty: the Kings and Queens and their worker bees felt it was their birthright to invade, conquer and control other people's lands and to take away the rights of the original inhabitants! I feel like denouncing my citizenship out of sheer shame, even though none of my family or ancestors were involved.

The holocaust was caused by an interupted plan - hatched in talks between Zionists and Hitler - to deport Jews to Madagascar.     First of all I want to express my gratitude for this essential documentary that helps to understand how was possible to zionists go and invade Palestine. I’m almost entirely watching it. It remains 15 minutes left but what keep my attention is in any moment, not a single ones, there were any concerns about the owner of the land, I mean obviously the Palestinians living in their lands. That was OFF the table.

This needs to be mandatory viewing in all high schools. Unfortunately this important history isn't taught in most US public schools. Human urge to feel superior and control others has been one of the root causes- responsible for causing suffering to millions. Reciprocated love and compassion for each other is one of the solutions to bring peace.       that no Palestinain Arab
      has ever governed a Palestinian Arab state -
      ever.
      The Palestinian Arabs
      were merely vassals of the Ottoman Empire,
      and
      many of what are NOW called " Palestinian Arabs",
      actually migrated to British Palestine
      from neighbouring post-1920 Arab countries
      because Palestine was amore go-ahead place
      than Egypt or Syria, etc.

      the Palestinian Arab support of Hitler,
      and the general Arab attack on Jews in 1948,
      suggest to me
      that the Palestinian Arabs
      consistently shot themselves in the foot,
      losing their land to the Jews of Israel
      by right of conquest.
      Whatever loss the Palestinian Arabs suffered,
      is matched or exceeded
      by the 900,000 Jews
      expelled from Arab countries post-1948.

      Those Palestinian Arabs
      who made their peace with Israel,
      and live within her borders,
      are better off than most Arabs.
      As an outsider,
      I think it important to stress
      that this blanket term "Palestinians"
      obscures a deeper truth.
      What it really means
      is "Palestinian Arabs".
      What it leaves out
      are the other religious groups within pre-1948 Palestine
      who are just as entitled to be called "Palestinians",
      such as "Palestinian Druzes",
      who numbered roughly 13,000 in 1946.

      HAS recognised the rights of the Palestinian Druzes,
      and one might deduce from this
      that this is because
      the Druzes never sought to destroy all Jews,
      and never lost a war,
      having never started one.

    The British and French had a great deal of involvement in dividing up the Ottoman Empire’s Middle East. If Britain’s action was illegitimate in Palestine, then the entire current map of the Middle East, eg all of the existing countries are illegitimate.

      ...which was why Saddam Hussein (remember him?) tried to take back Kuwait back in early 1990s thus Desert Storm 1. Apparently British colonialists split up oil rich Kuwait from Iraq proper, which led to Saddam's attempt to re-absorb Kuwait into Iraq.

    1. There was and there will always be Israel.
    2.Ottoman Empire a.k.a Turkey must compensate for chasing Israelites out of Israel and later running away leaving clueless Britain to manage the conflict.
    3.Palestines must accept that their great great father took their future by selling the land and accepting that they are from Egypt,Syria,Lebanon.

    Can someone give me timeline on how i should research and learn about history of all this? I was thinking abt
    Theodor herzel followed by Balfour declaration and then the Nakba but i don’t know if thats the right order or what should be next after these
