Your setup is my dream one, I have just started building mine but it's a start, I came across yours and it amazes me how much inspiration there is! Keep it up!
Man, you have a great mic right now but having an extra weapon of choice never hurts. Let me know when you grab the U87 and let me know what you think of it.
if you like the regular faderport... you'll love the faderport 8... you can control your plug ins with it and it works with the original faderport as well
Edgar Price yeah, I saw it a few months ago during the launch promo. The fader port is just something small before I get my C24 or S6 this year. I'm more of a larger format controller or console guy. Thanks for commenting Edgar!
As soon as you said musicians collect instruments, I looked up and saw my 6 guitars, 2 basses and my keyboard. You're damn right we collect instruments!
Archie, I am a subscriber and a fan! Your studio is par excellent; mines small and mediocre, but has had a profound effect on many young black men through my foundation. At 50...lol, "An Old Singer Returns to the Stage," my debut album, which will be a blend of neo-soul, gospel, r&b, and spoken word, a mixture of Jill Scott, Karen Clark Sheard, J Moss and Jennifer Hudson (of course I can't sing like them..lol); however, I plan on using my falsetto more so than my natural voice, which went from Soprano age 6 to 13, to 2nd Tenor, 14 to 49 (low range juxtaposed low register). I can't hit them notes like I use too. Nevertheless, like many artists, I need that first, "one hit wonder...lol." For me, it about the love of my craft, recording my first CD, and I need just one song to sing, which I am interested in hiring you, where applicable and feasible. Although many genres are expressed herein, the artist I want to be is neo-soul!
Hello. These are cheap amazon lights which I discovered that they were bleeding a buzz into songs I recorded sometimes. I upgraded to the Philips Hue Home Kit and LED strip. A bit pricey but I don't have that terrible buzz in my songs anymore. I hope this helps.
Have been checking and keeping-up with your video's :) adds more flame to the motivation and inspriration. :) helping me keep up with my own recording studio. :) just starting. but hey........ everyone has to start from somewhere. looking forward for tips and lessons. ;) keep it up. ;) thanks for this. ;)
This setup is ridiculously awesome. Please, teach me your ways! I'm converting a box truck into a mobile recording studio and with such limited space it's a challenge to produce top quality sound. But I'm going to make it happen no matter what. Watch me do it 🤘🤘🤘 Oh and thanks for the dope vid btw
Hello Archie, I love what you do ! I'm a 23 yo french producer, working on making a living out of my music. I've been practicing the guitar for 8 years and piano for 5-6 years (when i started beatmaking), but I'd really like to step up my piano skills. And I cannot afford to take classes.. I would just love to be able to play some stuff like you do when you show your Korg. Do you have any advice on this ? (btw I don't know music theory, i can't read a piano sheet for example.. always did all by ear, but I feel more and more like I'll come to a limit this "blind" way) Cheers from Europe, keep up the good work
Thanks bro. Well, the AKG are open back so you do get some audio leakage. If you are looking to record, I would get something closed back like the Sony 7506 or something more higher end.
I am a studio owner. I am now moving into the technology age. I've been doing my recordings by way of a stand alone DAW. KORG D3200. Now I am finally switching over to a computer workstation. . Question....... Is there any reason to hang on to the Korg? Or should I sell to fund other equipment?
You might hang onto it for a little while, just in case you need the extra preamps. You can use the channel inserts as direct outputs by inserting a cable "to the first click". That might come in handy if you end up with an audio interface with some extra line inputs, if you ever find yourself at a shortage for preamps. But heck, more money for other gear is always a good thing :)
Hello, just need some info. I am a musician not a recording pro :(. I want to fix my pc to put my music down in it. I play guitar, base, accordion, a little bit of piano and drums. How would I get stated what I need to start small. I do have powered speakers and a 22 Chanel mixing board
Hi, how are you? That's awesome that you are getting into recording your own music. Since you are getting your PC fixed, have powered speakers and a mixer, you already have a great start. I would suggest that you get an audio interface to connect your mixer to so you can record your instruments on the CPU and DAW(Recording Software which comes with most audio interfaces). Or plugin your instruments directly into the audio interface. Headphones would be an addition if you will be recording vocals as well. A condenser microphone will be a great idea as well. Keep in mind you will need cables and microphone stand (if you are recording vocals as well) for your setup. I hope this helps.
What do you use the Rode NTK for if you have the Neumann? Also, how would you compare it to the Rode K2 and AKG C214? I currently have the AKG C214, but am interested in replacing it with another mic and I'm hearing that a lot of people (especially singers/musicians my age for some reason) use Rode mics so I'm curious as to which Rode I'd get... I know that William Singe uses a K2 and I do like the quality of the vocals in his videos, but I'm not sure if that means much.
Thank you. The lighting is just general rope LEDs from amazon. I have 4 of them. Here is the link and thank you so much for commenting. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R98Z7R2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used one mic stand for the my Neumann U87ai microphone and pop filter. That mic stand is the Ultimate Support MC-125 which is about $199. Then I used a cheap OnStage MS7700B for my SE Electronics Sound Reflection Filter Pro. I hope I was able to help! The Ultimate Support MC-125: amzn.to/2pz67jQ Onstage MS7700B: amzn.to/2oK5CSy
hey Brother Thank you so much for this video. Im just started as engineer, so can you help me to understand things require to set up home studio and explain me in easy way??.
Hey Archie, just like anyone else, I want to start making music. I have a basic understanding of what i'll need to get started but what exactly should I start off with? My budget isn't the big so I understand i'll be limited.
What's up Masabi? I use logic because I feel like it's geared more towards musicians and composers due to the scoring (music notation/film) protocol. I've used FL before as well.. FL has it's advantages especially when it comes to speed. Watch a few videos on each while doing some other research and you will choose the right one bro. I hope this helps.
What's up Kaleb? The lights used in my previous home studio in this video are cheap amazon lights. After using them for a while, I realized they were bleeding a buzz into some of the songs I was recording. So I made a switch to the Philips Hue Home Kit and LED strip. I will be posting the new home studio tour within the next few weeks showing the new setup. I hope this helps.
That's a sick setup, but that U87, NOOOO way. The new Warm Audio Wa87 holds up to it for a quarter of the price. your setup is off the chain though. Warm also has a preamp (Tone Beast) that holds up to that Avalon 737. You would be surprised at how good that Warm stuff is...
Thank you so much bro. I've heard the Warm audio gear, REALLY GOOD but there's a big difference. In my experience the U87 has more presence but the WA-87 is a great deal for the price. A few of my friends here in Atlanta have the WA-87 and Wa76, it's good gear. I'm such a original design circuitry guy tho.
Thank you. Yeah bro, I've been working over 10 years to get the right setup for my workflow. It definitely takes time. Planning for an SSL 300HD, classic outboard and Augspurger duo 12 in the years to come.
It's actually some basic rope led lights I ordered from Amazon and I got a little creative lol.. Here's the link www.amazon.com/Rxment-Lighting-Flexible-Controller-Decorative/dp/B00WRDG9CQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1485819706&sr=8-4&keywords=led+rope+lights
The Apollo 8 and the twin have the same ad/da converters. Also, the unison preamp technology/circuitry is the exact same. Thanks for commenting and you are welcome.
Brittney Pantallion that's really all you need, if you can record, edit and get your takes done it will take you a long way, more gear is just EXTRA and doesn't mean much if you can't do anything/write with it.
Well, over the past year, I realize these lights cause noise in my recordings. It's like a subtle buzz. I use the philips hue home kit and led strips now. Right here: amzn.to/2BNkGnL
Hi there. Pretty nice setup. Was just wondering (as I am looking to replace my main studio computer), why did you chose the 21.5 iMac and not the 27 inch model ? Regards. S.
I use an On Stage Z stand. I pointed the top tier inward to hold the MPC.. Here's the link to itwww.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002F6JH6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Breaking Ice TV Canon T3i with a standard 50mm 1.8 canon lens. Also, a Panasonic GH2 with an HD 14-142mm Panasonic lens. For some close ups, I used a Sony A5100 which is what I normally use for vlogging. Thanks for commenting!
Which components are you referring to? If you are referring to the microphone, workstations, instruments and monitors, I have them connected to my Universal Audio Apollo 8 Quad.
Hey Ayanna! I have all my equipment listed including light here. The lights are down at the buttom! Thank you for dropping by! www.amazon.com/shop/archiebeatz
I have foam on my walls and I rent. To get around spraying the walls with adhesive, I cut out cardboard, used small nails to hang the cardboard, then taped the foam to the cardboard. Not the most elegant solution , but it works and I wont damage my walls when I end up having to take them down.
He's telling us the price for everything he bought. Just add it up and add a a couple of hundreds maybe a few thousand to it. That will give u an idea.

Hello. These are cheap amazon lights which I discovered that they were bleeding a buzz into songs I recorded sometimes. I upgraded to the Philips Hue Home Kit and LED strip. A bit pricey but I don't have that terrible buzz in my songs anymore. I hope this helps.

Is that good for my home recording unit?
It gets the job done for sure. You will get some great recordings from it.
Archie, those drums sound nice. Love the studio. Would love to hear you live. Why no mixing board? Just curious

Are you ging to show us how are you actualy recording and mixing vocals like tutorial or Vlog
How did you set up the mic hanging down with the pop filter? Did you use two mic stands? one for the mic hanging down and another for the pop filter?
I used one mic stand for the my Neumann U87ai microphone and pop filter. That mic stand is the Ultimate Support MC-125 which is about $199. Then I used a cheap OnStage MS7700B for my SE Electronics Sound Reflection Filter Pro. I hope I was able to help!

BlueLT7 thank you!
Would you recommend the krk rokit 5 gen 3?
I have some questions. Do you have an email address so I could ask. or another social media?
What's better, Logic Pro X or FL Studio?
I need to know what's best for my money..
Thank you I'll do that! Appreciate the help
i recommend fl studio, ive had it for almost half a year now, and i love it!
Masabi Beatz fl
Masabi Beatz Logic, geared towards songwriting, been using it for over 7 years now. Great DAW.
Can u get in touch with me about the lights, whenever you are free
What's up Kaleb? The lights used in my previous home studio in this video are cheap amazon lights. After using them for a while, I realized they were bleeding a buzz into some of the songs I was recording. So I made a switch to the Philips Hue Home Kit and LED strip. I will be posting the new home studio tour within the next few weeks showing the new setup. I hope this helps.
Much appreciated man. Nice communication 🤙🏽
Just curious bro...why do you have two yamaha motifs of the exact same model but different color in the studio?
I'm a musician and play live. Also, they work really well together when you cascade/daisy chain them for onboard production.
Hey shat stand are u using to hold that MPC Renaissance up like that?
where in my room should i place my microphone?
Man you are growing. I wish i had even a 1/6 th of the stuff you had.. but one day right? :)
Thank you. Yeah bro, I've been working over 10 years to get the right setup for my workflow. It definitely takes time. Planning for an SSL 300HD, classic outboard and Augspurger duo 12 in the years to come.
What's your lighting setup dude? Is that the Philips Hue?
It's actually some basic rope led lights I ordered from Amazon and I got a little creative lol.. Here's the link www.amazon.com/Rxment-Lighting-Flexible-Controller-Decorative/dp/B00WRDG9CQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1485819706&sr=8-4&keywords=led+rope+lights
Bro is there a difference between the Apollo Twin & the Apollo 8 when it comes to the sound quality of the Unison Preamps/converters? Thanks.
The Apollo 8 and the twin have the same ad/da converters. Also, the unison preamp technology/circuitry is the exact same. Thanks for commenting and you are welcome.
Im so broke. I wish I could afford some of this gear. I use mxl 770, icicle, and garage band :( I want to cry. Great video
Brittney Pantallion that's really all you need, if you can record, edit and get your takes done it will take you a long way, more gear is just EXTRA and doesn't mean much if you can't do anything/write with it.
Take a shot every time he says "it gets the job done..."
Hey bro can you help me get my lighting like yours?
Well, over the past year, I realize these lights cause noise in my recordings. It's like a subtle buzz. I use the philips hue home kit and led strips now. Right here: amzn.to/2BNkGnL
good video bru where u from
+Marcusd Gucci thanks bro. From Mississippi but live in ATL
Hi there. Pretty nice setup. Was just wondering (as I am looking to replace my main studio computer), why did you chose the 21.5 iMac and not the 27 inch model ? Regards. S.
That Neumann costs 3,600! I see who getting money! Keep up the good work
Lol. It's a great tool and well worth the investment. Thank you.
What kind of stand is your motif and ren sitting on?
I use an On Stage Z stand. I pointed the top tier inward to hold the MPC.. Here's the link to itwww.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002F6JH6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
how much did all of that cost?Wow!
I don't have the exact amount but I've been investing and adding pieces for years.

Awww thank you so much Ms. Samore :)
Hey Archie. How do you hook up your proteus 2000?
Midi from my motif because I play the sounds from the module live into 2 of the quarter inch inputs on my apollo.
Archie Beatz Thanks.
What's the song you use in the background?
It's a track I produced called "High"th-cam.com/video/1uRBwwlV9eE/w-d-xo.html
I love it, man!! Now you gotta get someone to throw a dope-ass freestyle over it and you're golden!
Have u ever worked with J Roc
What camera and lens do you use?
Breaking Ice TV Canon T3i with a standard 50mm 1.8 canon lens. Also, a Panasonic GH2 with an HD 14-142mm Panasonic lens. For some close ups, I used a Sony A5100 which is what I normally use for vlogging. Thanks for commenting!

Hey Ayanna! I have all my equipment listed including light here. The lights are down at the buttom! Thank you for dropping by! www.amazon.com/shop/archiebeatz
How to buy a studio and how much it costs
how much do you earn from your engineering?
Do you own this house..? Caan you put acoustics on a wall in a house you rent..?
I have foam on my walls and I rent. To get around spraying the walls with adhesive, I cut out cardboard, used small nails to hang the cardboard, then taped the foam to the cardboard. Not the most elegant solution , but it works and I wont damage my walls when I end up having to take them down.
Thanks !!
Nice gear though
