    Something to add would be a good chair. You're going to be sitting anywhere from 1 to 10+ hours, a cheap office or gaming chair will cause you so much back pain that it will be unbearable. A good office chair is something you won't notice until it's time to stand up and you're not hunched over like a 90 year old construction worker.

    3 things.
    Never use beats by dre in the studio.
    Dont sit monitors on the table with the computer without isolation under the monitors. Otherwise, it will vibrate and can damage the hard drive's disks.
    For cheap sound isolation, moving blankets and bed topper foam works great.
    Have fun and be creative Champs🏆

    • @prodbynessuno
      @prodbynessuno ปีที่แล้ว +16

      moving blankets have worked amazing for me in my experience. and if you want some more just double up the layers. best part is theyre really cheap. also, couldnt agree more with beats by dre. the bass is turned up in them so you'll never get a good understanding of what you're mixing.

    • @MartyNotes
      @MartyNotes ปีที่แล้ว +30

      @@JadeThaRapper they are preprogrammed to sound better than the true sound of your audio. When mixing, you want a true sound, so if something doesn't sound good, you can hear it accurately and fix it.
      They are for the average listener, not mixing engineers.
      Great question though. Have fun! Be blessed 🙌🏾 🙏🏾

    One highly important point to mention about condensor mics, is NEVER plug them in when the phantom power is switched on, and NEVER disconnect when this power is still on. Always plug in and then turn on the phantom power and allow a minute or two for the mic to warm up. Before disconnecting always turn off phantom power first. It only takes one bad connect/disconnect to trash your expensive microphone.

I literally went on till my laptop crashed on the CPU use and open a new studio soon in Miami but this time much bigger as my song gave me good revenue.. thanks to winning BBC xtra awards with big collaborations coming soon .so I invest in better now . I’ve been recording at home for a few years using a desktop and two dell monitors. Presonus USB 2x2 and relatively cheap headphones and monitors. Works ok and I’ve enjoyed it. After some experience, I’m still an old guy beginner, I’ve learned that quality gear makes a huge difference!! Next month I’m revamping my set up with a MacBook Pro, some really good headphones and monitors, condenser mic and stepping up to studio one professional. Can’t wait! Thanks for the video, gave me some ideas. The comments are great as well! I have plenty of moving blankets and the foam bed top for sound deadening the room is brilliant!! Thanks again!

    Another aspect may be this one: when you're a beginner you may want to experiment with certain things before spending a lot of money on software. There (still) is a lot a freeware on the web. However, this most often is 32 bits. The quality can be very good. But when your DAW only supports 64 bits this will rob you of this change to try all kinds of software to get skilled or make up your mind about it. Sometimes/often quality of freeware may be not so good, but when you want to try out sleigh bells, tubular bells etc. it may matter.

Next I jumped to digital / portable recording studio machines like the Boss BR-1600 which at the time were absolutely amazing! Now I'm swapping my recording production setup out again and trying to get on board with the newest technology. QUICK TIP FOR BUYING MICROPHONES:
    If you’re on a strict budget you’ll likely get a lot more for your money going for a Dynamic microphone rather than a Condenser microphone at the same price.
    The SM58 & AT2020 are roughly the same price but I believe you get a lot more in terms of versatility, sound quality and durability going with the SM58.
    The 55SH series ii is also an excellent budget microphone that won’t require replacing any time soon.
    (You will still need a audio interface for it to work)

    Thank you for your video - I am lost about setting up but you video helped me. I have a lot of the equipment and am working through an Apple M1 Ultra Mini Studio with Pro-Tools and I also have Pro-Logic - I am learning about both of those. I have JBL Monitors that I also utilize when practicing and my Microphon is the Shure MV7. I have a couple Focusrite but have the 4i4 on this specific computer. I also have the Arturia MiniLab mkII - still trying to figure all of this out. Right now I utilize the audio interface for when I do online concerts, however I would like to start recording. Now to work on my learning curve on the DAW. I would prefer Protools so we shall see which is easier.

    You answered one of my questions about how a condenser microphone works. As it turns out, I work in a computer and electronics store so perhaps I can get some of the items that I don’t already have for home recording. I’ve also downloaded software such as ProTools and Ableton yet it’s hard to figure out how to use them. Thanks for doing this. I’ll be checking out more of your videos.

    • @prodbynessuno
      @prodbynessuno ปีที่แล้ว +4

      just some advice: ableton is more directed to beginners rather than pro tools. pro tools is also more meant for live instrument recording rather than heavy focus on synths and plugins like ableton or fl studio is. i have a blue spark SL condenser mic and it works amazing for the price, would 100% recommend to beginners. i also would say to get closed back studio headphones if you're recording vocals as u dont want the microphone picking up the sounds from the headphones. good luck!

      @@prodbynessuno Thanks for your input on ProTools and Ableton. I honestly didn’t know what the differences were. Concerning your DAW you overlooked one aspect, if I may say so. Some entry level DAWs don't offer the possibility to record audio tracks, so when you're a singer songwriter (and you want to record your singing or playing guitar) that may be a problem.
