at 1:00 -- "Lynn" reminds me of the guy in a Chinese restaurant bragging about his new "Chinese" tattoo and how it stands for bravery and courage or somesuch. Owner of the restaurant (Han Chinese born in China, etc.), open the menu, points to an item and say, "No, it say 'chicken soup.'" while pointing to the same character on the menu.

I literally had a guy at my retail store racially curse out one of my cashiers for accidentally scanning an item that was his for someone else (no divider) then get offended when I told him his conduct was unacceptable and we where closed so he had to leave. He started cursing and asking for a manger. Was so satisfying to tell him I AM the manager.

Managed a fast/casual restaurant for 7 years and 50 weeks. I ran a profitable successful business. It paid well but my God it beat the crap out of me, dealing with all the buttheads(customers and upper management).....got to the point when I wasn't at work I was at home drinking myself into a stupor.....then it got to the point I was drinking before and during work as well. Then one day the King Butthead district manager being his usual jerky nit-picky self was there and I gave him my keys and walked. Was in the hospital, then rehab, in a week. That was about 20 years ago. I've never had a job dealing with the public since and I hope I never will.

I have often clapped back at people who mistreat retail workers. My mother worked in retail for 40 years and she came home nearly every shift and tell us about badly behaved or aggressive customers. I met my mother for her lunch break at her store one day and witnessed a really, REALLY nasty piece of work berating my mother because there was no more of an item in stock until the delivery the next day. This cranky crap told my mother, "I'll have your job for your incompetence!". I just tapped her on the shoulder and informed her that she wouldn't want my mother's job (didn't give it away that the employee was my mother) because she would have to deal with people just like her. That was the first time I ever witnessed the person being called out "clasping their pearls"!

@@ogivecrush Exactly what can a 75 year old man do to instigate anything? Man can hardly instigate a proper bowel movement for fucks sake. And that wasn't the only old many this happened to another one was just standing on the opposite street from protestors observing what was going on when a cop with a riot shield I assume told him to move before immediately pushing him. He turned to start walking away but he's old as shit and has a cane so he doesn't move fast and the cop just rammed him down onto the ground. What kills me is that there were several cops who all witnessed this did nothing to admonish the one who pushed the man the first time then wanted to crowd around and help the man up after he knocked him to the ground like what the fuck?

I worked for a dairy queen. Dairy queen has a salad bar with different things you can add to it. Now one day a woman comes in and orders a taco salad, no tomato due to an allergy. Because she mentioned the allergy I, the cashier, both made sure it was impossible to miss the edit on the order by punching it in multiple times and adding "allergy" to the ticket. She receives her salad and comes back red in the face angry that tomatoes were on the salad. Still could have been a mistake, so I took it to the kitchen to get it replaced. Again she comes back complaining about the tomatoes. I personally watched them remake a new salad no tomato, and she insisted we just tried scraping them off. It was then I noticed raw jalapeño on the salad. There is only one place in the entire store you will ever find a raw jalapeño. The salad bar.

In a half hour it got 50 upvotes and an award and the admin threatend to ban anybody who commented on or upvoted my post. One dude was pessimistic about my post and even he got the threat. I asked the chick why she banned me and she said it was because my post "was positive in nature". She then said that positive things have never helped anyone with depression. I then asked why she thought negative things helped people with depression and she told me I shouldn't try to be an expert in things I never went to school for. She then blocked me. I used to work at walmart, I don't have any stories of people getting psycotically violent like you see in r/tailsfromretail or r/Idon'tworkherelady, but there were some people that yelled at me when they didn't have an ID for alcohol. But the rudest person was an old lady who would start cussing at you for the most inane things, like leaving the conveyer belt on for a few seconds too long, or asking her to repeat a request because the store was loud and you didn't hear what she said. The one I found most annoying was when I was monitoring the self checkout station, and she expected me to scan and bag all her items for her. Sometimes people unfamiliar with the self checkout station would want me to scan a couple items as a demonstration, just to be sure they were doing it right, but she didn't ask for only a couple of items or for an explanation of how the machine worked. She just expected me to do everything for her even though it was self service.

A couple weeks ago, around 9:30 pm, my sister announced to me that I would be driving her to a friend's house immediately and picking her up some time after midnight. Didn't even give me a definite time. A few weeks before that, she was going to the store and I gave her $10 to buy me a pint of ice cream. Without asking, she used the change to buy razors for us to share (which she didn't even tell me until I asked for the change), and tried to hold that over my head when I wouldn't share the ice cream with her. I still don't understand the thinking behind that: "If you don't share what you bought with your own money, I won't let you use the razors you paid for."

I have one that happened recently. No throwing or being an absolute piece of shite but a guy came through self check. Asked if he could use his rewards or write a check. Blah blah. Sure. Check him out. Run check, run Id, "please see customer service". Try again. Same thing. Call my manager. She tells him it won't take it and that she is sorry. So he says "just push it through." She says, "sir, we can't do that." So he apparently said some crap about myself and her under his breath and she goes, "would you like me to call my manager so I can tell him what you just called us?". He gets super pissed and embarrassed and walks out as my manager loudly proclaims, "You have a nice day sir!". The guy has had to be removed from the store for buying alcohol and drinking it outside while waiting for a cab. And he's yelled at me and a few other co-workers for not calling him a cab for him when he has a perfectly good cellphone he can use. Fucking asshole. Get a life and stop drinking yourself to death, and learn to be a nicer person, piece of shite.

Starbucks. I would work a seasonal indoor faire (a long weekend with a banking holiday on either Friday or Monday as well) and there was a dealer (merchant) that would come in with 4-8 cups of Starbucks coffee every morning, slightly different variations on a theme but always more complicated as the number of cups increased. She would round them up a little to even buck amount and sell them off, claiming she'd picked up extras for others. Then I got to the event early enough one morning to actually visit the Starbucks myself. She would order, claim it was made wrong and add another thing, they would remake it, and she'd repeat until the manager put a stop to it. And she would have a carrier stuck in her tote to hold the cups (if it was made wrong you got to keep the wrong one). Well I told the event organizer about this (ripping off the Starbucks and selling the free ones) and they weren't at any more of the events.

My most recent douchebag that I've gotten to deal with came in to order something that I know is very expensive. I warned him that the item was going to be very expensive, the guy said he didn't care and that's exactly what he wanted. I total up the item and tell him the price and ask him how he will be paying. The guy loses his crap and tells me he refuses to pay. I tell him 'all right', back out of the transaction and cancel the PO completely. I have not taken one cent of his money. I ask him if there's anything else I can help him with and he demands a manager because according to this man I have taken his money and won't refund him.
I get into the system and show the manager the canceled PO, and a check of the POS shows I have not accepted any form of tender. Manager has the douchebag escorted out and 86'd

This lady calls saying her PC doesn't work, I try all the troubleshoot and doesn't work, then tell her she cannot send it to the company for repairs since it is a 10 year old desktop. She went mad, and I remember the last she told me "I'm never gonna buy any product Acer ever again and your bosses gonna get that money from your salary!" And end the call. Bitch, you haven't bought something in a decade, they probably don't even remember who are you.

That "I know the owner" line is just crawling with flaws/holes. Even if they're related to the owner (friend/family), the owner would personally need to come to clarify or call. And if you refuse service because they fire you only *after* refusing the customer service without a prior call regarding that, you can take it to court... surely...
40:50 Bro, just ask the waiter how they'd rate the meal (x/5), and tip them accordingly. Even a waiter would likely hold an opinion on a dish's visual appeal, or if the chef was cutting corners out of anger but [waiter] can't voice their opinions... Both this tactic and theirs won't suffice if the restaurant's understaffed/overworked though.

Used to work in a retail store, and after a late shift one time 4 of us went to a strip club. The d-bag was a co-worker, not a friend only reason I brought it up to explain why I was hanging with him. Though he was pretty chill, until I saw him get drunk.
I was designated driver, had a couple drinks before switching to soda. Another patron at the club started hassling my “friend” about not putting money down for one of the stage dancers. It isn’t a requirement, if you don’t want a dance from them. My “friend” got physical with the guy hassling him, and the bouncers forcefully removed him from the club, then asked the rest of us to leave as we came together.
I then spent 30 minutes trying to convince the furious drunk guy to get in my car. It was freezing outside. The other two yelling drunkenly at him to get in the car too.
He started saying shit like “do they know who my father is?”
His father was a bank manager/owner or something, at some random bank.
I told him I don’t give a shit who his dad is, and the bouncers sure as fuck don’t either.
I got him to leave when I told him I’d go and speak to the bouncers. So I stepped back inside where he couldn’t see me, not intending to talk to them at all. They came to me though and told me they asked us to leave. I explained what he was doing and could they give me another 2 minutes and explained what I wanted. They let me stand there before I rushed out being “forced” out by the bouncer and the bouncer yelling at us all to get the fuck out before they had to call the cops.
Thank you to that bouncer for going along with it. Cool as shit dude that guy was. And man did it scare the guy to rush to my car after that. Guess dad wouldn’t have been pleased if he got arrested, lol.

Used to work for speedway(for 1 month)
On my last day, I came in and before i even cleared the threshold of the door a very large black woman screamed at me asking why the coffee isnt fresh. I replied that I will make a fresh pot as soon as i clock in. Well she didnt like that answer and decided to toss out every racial slur (I'm white) and then i started to lose my cool a bit and just walked into the back to clock in. After i clocked in, i took a few deep breaths and put on my -I make minimum wage and in customer service- smile. I didnt even get a word out before i heard her snort up a large loogy (snot and spit. Idk how its spelt and im NOT googling that) and then spat it on my new uniform.
I looked up at her with i guess a terrifying look and with my deepest voice i said to get the f*** out of my store while you can walk.
Well lol the cop that sits in the back saw this and she was arrested. I then got cussed out that same night after having to pull my 5th double that week bc my 3rd shifters and 1st shifters kept calling in so i filled the spot. Well that night i was cussed out by a biligerent drunk gay man bc he wanted a burger and we were out. Mind you that we are literally surrounded on 3 sides by burger joints. So when he put his finger in my face and was screaming all sorts of profanities at me I told him to lower his voice and gave him a free coffee(bc he fuckin needed to sober up) to which he then dumped it out on my counter and spit on me... i then yelled very loudly to get his ass out of my store before he starts picking up his teeth.
Well the same off duty cop was still in the back watching the cameras then ran out and arrested him.
If you wonder why he doesnt come out sooner, its more of if they are absolutely needed and to catch ppl shoplifting.
Loved that job bc we were like wolves. You messed with one of us then you got all of us on you and if you want to retaliate, we gotta cop. Kinda shitty but so is customer service.
Edit: i walked out of speedway that night and went to a rock quarry, swam, drank, smoked, dishes and had a nice bon fire. I now work in IT and only mildly miss customer service.

You know the only time I yell at retail workers is when they lie to me because they are too lazy to do something... my opinion is if you have a retail job then do your job and me as the customer will do my job. Yes I do understand that you decided for what ever reason to become the face of that company so please understand that I do not want to call you or come back in for buying a broken product yet here I am because the company that you decided to become the face of sold me something broken. Tldr treat me with respect and I will treat you with respect.

One time I was at my local pizza shop that I've been going to since I was 5. Its just my gf and I and the employees until a wild Karen comes in ranting about metal in her pizza for a solid 7 minutes before turning to look if anyone was on her side. She locked eyes with me and asked what I thought about the situation. Which I replied listen Karen frankly I dont give a fuck about your kids and you probably put the metal there because I've been coming here since I was 5 and aint never got metal in my pizza. At that point they already offered to make her another pizza and a 50% off her next order so I just reminded her that and she just stfu my pizza was a solid 9.5-10 wasn't metallic enough

This was about a year ago, so not that recent. Anyways I told one of the nerds at my friendly local game store that his girlfriend has had, at least, semi-formal training in how to be a *pain in the ass* because she uses language like 'misogynistic' instead of 'sexist' (particularly when badmouthing some of the less balanced nerds), and has a friend who describes herself as an 'asexual' instead of a 'tomboy'. In a city with a woke community this wouldn't be out of place, but we are in a rural community.
He didn't listen; he loves her.
Now they're married and he complains about her hating him.
Not really sympathetic - he's attracted to toxic females (she's not as bad as the last one, who he called 'the warden')
    P.S.
Yes, I know I used the term 'toxic'; I'm appropriating woke culture, it's my privilege as a CIS-gender, hetero-normative, while, male, capitalist, Illuminati, attack helicopter (swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh).

Those retail jewelry exchange stories make me laugh every time. Gold prices vary but when you are talking sometimes 2 thousand dollars an ounce, and making a 3 dollar replica from plated tin is basically free. It's just a thing. The indignation of the thieves wad hilarious.
Or "we can't take used underwear or bathing suits back" but want to say, you may be a great person but people try to return undershorts with cum and or crabs in them, we can't take anything that might infect another customer.
