the cayman is such a beautiful and poised car. i read a base cayman is actually faster than a base carrera. porsche designed the cayman's gearing so it would be slower because they wouldn't want a cheaper car to top they're flagship 100k carrera
It may be on a green engine. the VQ engine is known for being slow until after it has been broken in. I have a 03 350 Z and I pull from a roll my friends Evo. Thats why if you check 0-60 times the car is all over the place from mid 5's to mid 4's. The company said at press release it does 4.4 form the factory. Also the car over heats easily until the 2012 model so power is lost on any model below 2012
and those stock bridgestones were easily the worst tires on any car I've driven in 25 years. Michelin Pilot Super sports completely transformed the car, revealing that it now needs a stiffer front swaybar and endlinks. Other than that the compliance on public roads is about perfect with the stock suspension (2014)
True, but one thing I've come to notic in all BMI battles that involve the Z is the Z's sub par performance compared to other cars in it's class. It's too heavy, as you pointed out, and too big, volume wise, plus the engine doesn't even have direct injection tech and all that good stuff that gives an engine great response. It's still great value for money, if bought used, but is it ?, especially when you can get a decent, used Cayman S that still has life in it for the Z's starting price.
When you buy a Porsche you get what you pay for in every area. With cheap sports cars you get just performance, and nothing else. With proper high quality sports cars such as Porsches or BMW in this video, you get quality, refinement, comfort, everyday usability and performance that is available everywhere, not just on a smooth track.
The Europeans really have the know-how to make a great sports car. The 911 is probably one of the best in terms of the balance between performance and practicality. The only car I could think of that betters this balance is the Lotus Evora S, but it doesn't hold a candle to a C2S in all out speed.

To fix the aspect ratio: Firefox+Scriptish or Chrome, and add the "TH-cam Center" script: it can fix the aspect ratio, resize automatically and so much more ;)
Yes, Porsche is insanely expensive, but you really get what you paid for in terms of performance. I'd love to own a 911 one day, even if the maintenance is going to be complete hell...
Over a an entire race consisting of 50+ laps the 911 would eventually hunt down the cayman S. Even its' great handling can't overcome being down 65hp to the 911. The race should finish in the order: 1. 911 S 2. Cayman S 3. Boxster S 4. Nismo 370z 5. Z4 sDrive35i

Porsche and BMW are not cheap cars , Nissan 370z you can repair at your home garage, here nobody talks about BMW LOST , However spend little more money for 370z and buy turbo charger kit , 370z will powerful enough...

370Z's typically get worn down in a race, the brakes particularly start to go. There is a reason why in the real world a 370Z is not the car of choice for the amateur racer.
If the z had a freer revving engine it would be perfect check the rpm difference coming from a guy that drives a g35 everyday but there very dependable I must add... Come on Nissan u can do it!!!
I wish new Cayman 2012 have a new engine with more power. There is no reason to keep better engine for inferior car. Let porsche keep 911 for one who like classic car and give Cayman for one who want modern sport car.

@aimcoclutch 911 had more traffic to get through, which gave the Cayman S time to get away from the pack.

FYI, the fastest time in GT5 Academy 2011 round 1 is less than 1:05:00 with 370z and comfort soft tires.

The time these cars are posted are very slow. Perhaps the track wet. Im pretty sure they should have all been at least 3 to 4 second faster per lap
